Is there a vaccine for it?

Who said it would ever be easy to calm the crazies and far-right and far-left lunatics? I believe that when a Congressperson or news reporter says their number one goal is making a president’s administration unsuccessful, they are voting against America. The Donald Trump administration drummed up support of a loud vocal minority, but much of what it did was not successful in terms of America.

I hate this, but when statements are made, they must be verified. Are there more or fewer countries with nuclear weapons since Trump came to power? There are more. Is the trade imbalance that so many screamed about better or worse? Well, it’s just about the same. Was the bragging that we defeated ISIS just more hype in an administration that gave Afghanistan back to the Taliban? Yeah, that’s about right And, yes, the withdrawal was terrible, but I am sure the Generals behind closed doors were honest about the ineptitude of the Afghan army. By the way, I wonder why members of the Afghanistan government were not involved in those Taliban negotiations that the Trump team finalized?

Taliban Leadership

We now know that unvaccinated people have an 11% greater chance of dying of Covid-19. So, the Biden administration worked to get more people vaccinated and the far-right media soon reported it was an OVERREACH by an out-of-control president. The Fox-Brains screamed about using executive orders to get more people vaccinated. Did they forget that Trump signed 220 executive orders in four years? It’s a normal path presidents take to get things done. Why is the practice suddenly demonized? Woodrow Wilson signed some 1,800 orders during his eight years in office. If you care to look, click here.

Clearly, the far-right dumb-sters and hardcore Trumpers in the GOP have taken a stance against any further government management of the global pandemic. Our governor in Florida has placed all his power in the idea to protect “parent’s rights,” even though his actions have clearly hurt children. His vindicative garnishing of schoolboard wages to get back at them for imposing mask mandates is indefensible. As Ron DeSantis’ poll numbers decline, he’s doubling down on a harmful and scornful strategy. After missing so much school kids are now missing even more because of the Covid resurgence. Every expert agrees, better to be in the classroom with a mask on, than at home without one.

Republicans who believed in Trump’s cry to end the war in Afghanistan have done a one-eighty and now sound like they want us to send in more troops to quell the inevitable, an inevitable that Trump brought them. Let’s not forget that Trump wanted to host the Taliban at Camp David on 9-11! Yes, he did. It’s all right here if you want to read about it. And may I mention one more thing? Joe Biden wanted to get out of Afghanistan years ago but was overruled by President, Barack Obama.

Joe Biden is a good president because he’s been in politics so long he has experience with all we’ve done, both right and wrong. He knows that Obamacare was a good idea. because more people have healthcare insurance. He knows that partisan politics and bad press coverage are part of the game. Sure, he likes to be liked, but I am sure he doesn’t lose any sleep over such stuff that doesn’t matter.

Chris Wallace

In Chris Wallace’s new book, Countdown bin Laden: The Untold Story of the 247-Day Hunt to Bring the Mastermind of 9/11 to Justice, the ace reporter and interviewer discloses that the night Obama was making fun of Donald Trump at the Correspondent’s’ Dinner in D.C., his team was working behind the scenes to plan the raid that killed Osama bin Laden the very next night. Chris points out that a president must keep his focus on the important things, even while they are being speared and skewered by self-serving zealots and jealous partisans.

Many people are so wrapped up in the dogma of their dens and tribes they fail to see the bigger picture. The doctor of one of my neighbors asked him why he hadn’t gotten a vaccine yet. My neighbor answered the question with a question, “So it’s really that bad? How many people have died from Covid this year?” The doctor didn’t know the answer. Shame on him! I sure know. In 2021 so far, 100,000 people have died from Covid-19. In eight months, that’s thirty times the death toll of 9-11. Why shouldn’t that be a cause for concern? If your possible death could be eliminated by getting a shot, why wouldn’t you do it? To me it seems unamerican to not get the vaccine.

A president telling everyone to wear a mask and get a shot is not an act of treason. How many more people need to die before the non-vaxxers begin to wonder, “What were we thinking?” Truth be told, they many never reach that point. It’s because Fox News, One America News Network and Newsmax have signed a pact, not with America but with their investors to keep strong ratings. Unless someone starts a sponsor boycott, or sues them, they will continue to tout unsuccessful or dangerous remedies for the coronavirus, looking for every opportunity to exploit the unaware.

They pound the other side hard, but any plausible deniability for them is gone. It’s no longer moral or factual to say that everything our president does is wrong NO MATTER WHAT. Joe Biden took matters into his own hands. Where I come from, we call that leadership. We surely need a leader right now and Joe is our guy. He’s trying to save lives. What on earth is wrong with that?

Biden isn’t the virus, he’s the doctor. And right now, we need to listen to him!

We knew that the great divide in America would have a major effect on the presidential election in the year 2020, but something else was lurking that we didn’t anticipate. The world suffered a global pandemic of Covid-19, and everything changed. The lockdown motivated one author to write MASHED POTATOES: Covid, Cancer & Comfort Food. The cover ironically claims the book is a “humorous” recollection of 2020, but one might ask, “Where was the humor?” This is a work of survival to motivate those who desire to get beyond Covid-19, beat cancer and defend our precious Democracy.  The world got Covid, the writer got cancer and we all ate copious amounts of comfort food. It’s time to swallow the truth, survive the madness, take a large spoon and savor some delicious MASHED POTATOES. Get some here.

The Truth About Far-Right & Far-Left Movements

Tomorrow is a sacred date in American history, and I hesitate to write this piece, but I feel compelled to connect some dots, dates and delusions. Can there be any doubt that Donald Trump is promoting and motivating the far-right to rally behind him with their pickup trucks, Trump flags and automatic weapons? If the President of the United States honestly believes that encouraging militias and their half-baked wannabe mercenaries into the streets to mess with protesters and far-left groups is a positive effort, then he’s not only an idiot but unfit for the presidency.

I can’t help seeing Trump’s young male supporters in trucks with their flags and guns and comparing them to troops from other places. Don’t we see the same picture with Taliban and ISIS groups patrolling the towns and territories of Iraq and Afghanistan? Or how about the new pro-Trump, anti-mask militias in places like Washington state, Wisconsin and Oregon? Those troops are not sanctioned to do this work. The have not be deputized and they should not be in our streets with guns because they make things worse, not better.

Trump thinks of these clowns as his army. I remember the remarkable NFL success of the Steelers in my hometown of Pittsburgh. One of the stars of that legendary team was fullback Franco Harris. During World War II, Franco’s father fought in Italy where he met his future wife, an Italian, thus the name Franco. That history produced the lore and fan base known as “Franco’s Italian Army,” whose wild fans wore army helmets displaying his number. It was playful and fun, and no guns were involved.

I believe that Trump visualizes losing the election but calling on these goons to take control of the country so he can stay in office. Donald would resist even if his golfing buddy Lindsey Graham were to visit the White House and cajole his departure. This is not a game, people. This is real. It’s plain that Donald Trump’s ego is tempting him to do dreadful things.

Just like the Taliban and ISIS, Trump’s “LIBERATION” groups are being motivated by dark and unamerican ideals. Yes, the concept of militias is supported by the Second Amendment but only if “well regulated.” It is disheartening to see local police and federal agents lending support and encouragement to these guerrillas. We must stop their lawless, murderous entries into cities, even if it’s their own city. Trump’s not-so-subtle call to action of these thugs can be adjudicated after he leaves office as a blatant form of obstruction of justice overflowing to voter intimidation. If I were a Grand Jury member, I would vote to indict this cretin.

Our society has a problem with how we apply justice. Do you remember when the Ohio National Guard killed four students on the campus of Kent State in 1970? Well, no one was ever charged in that action. There is a thin line between peaceful protesting and crime, and I wonder why members of some far-right groups can roam our streets dressed in camo uniforms, carrying long guns and waving Trump flags and be treated with respect and kid gloves, while peaceful protesters against racial grievances are beaten, pepper sprayed and pushed back.

Real Black Panthers

In 1966, it was legal to openly carry a loaded firearm in California. When the radical Black Panthers figured this out, they marched in the streets with rifles. They even entered San Francisco City Hall while armed, which inspired the state to change the law. You see, there are two standards. Most states with open carry laws do not discriminate against people of color, but their reaction to someone of color holding a gun is vastly more extreme. Black kids with guns get shot by police.

I don’t think those with flags and signs displaying their love for Donald Trump should be arrested. The moment they display a firearm however, they should be seen as a potential problem and dealt with differently than they are now. They are currently intimidating peaceful citizens with their guns.

Most legal experts will tell you not to pull a gun unless you are threatened. If you are not being in danger, raising a weapon is called brandishing. In essentially every US state there is a sharp legal distinction between a person pulling a gun for self-defense or doing so for another purpose. Even under a murky circumstance, all one has to say is that they felt threatened, and judging by the latest events it would be fair to say that either or both sides could feel in danger.

Leadership flows from the top, but our feeble President has placed himself in the middle. He’s rooting for the militias, while the real military is becoming less and less impressed with Trump’s actions and words. Donald John Trump is uncomfortable with the military and oblivious about how the Pentagon works. Military soldiers don’t like militias; they never have. Any notion that citizen groups must take up arms to protect the police and the country is stupid and ill-advised. Local, state and federal police don’t need any help to do their jobs and, contrary to what Trump has said, they are not wanting to go to war and spend lots of money.

The irony of Trump claiming that certain people in the Pentagon are spending money in corrupt ways did not sit well with Central Command. The President’s suggestion that they want to go to war and spend enormous amounts of cash is paradoxical, coming from the guy who brags about how well he funded them. According to Department of Defense records, on February 10, 2020, President Donald J. Trump sent Congress a proposed Fiscal Year 2021 budget request of $740.5 billion for national security, $705.4 billion of which is slated for the Department of Defense (DoD). Why would the Donald say anything about how the DoD spends its money? He’s an ignoramus.

One could argue that people riding around in pickup trucks draped in Trump election gear makes them guilty of voter intimidation. Our President is breaking his pledge to uphold the laws and protect the Constitution. We have a criminal in the Oval Office and gangs in the streets. Every action of Donald Trump only makes matters worse.

Taliban Taunts Trump

Our twitter president decided to call off a “secret” meeting he had scheduled with the Taliban last weekend at Camp David. I guess it’s not secret anymore.

Here is what the “leader” of the free world wrote: “Unbeknownst to almost everyone, the major Taliban leaders and, separately, the President of Afghanistan, were going to secretly meet with me at Camp David on Sunday. They were coming to the United States tonight. Unfortunately, in order to build false leverage, they admitted to an attack in Kabul that killed one of our great great soldiers, and 11 other people. I immediately cancelled the meeting and called off peace negotiations. What kind of people would kill so many in order to seemingly strengthen their bargaining position? They didn’t, they only made it worse! If they cannot agree to a ceasefire during these very important peace talks, and would even kill 12 innocent people, then they probably don’t have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway. How many more decades are they willing to fight?” (bolding added)

It didn’t take the Taliban much time to answer Trump harangue, according to the Guardian, “The Taliban warned on Sunday that the cancellation meant more American lives would be lost, while the United States promised to keep up military pressure on the militants.” Their reporting included this quote from Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, “Its [US] credibility will be affected, its anti-peace stance will be exposed to the world, losses to lives and assets will increase.”

This episode exposes one of the major weaknesses in Trump’s brain. His actions are out of sync with a normal leadership timeline protocol. He skips steps in the negotiation process. He thinks a simple meeting is better than setting up a framework for talks involving requirements or proof of sincerity. He did this with Kim Jung-Un and things in that regard have only gotten worse. The North Korean leader has done nothing but increase his arsenal since he and Trump engaged.

Many Americans may not know what the Taliban is, but those who know would have cautioned Trump from going too far with them before he got commitments. The Taliban is a Sunni Islamic fundamentalist political movement and military organization in Afghanistan, currently waging war within that country. They are not a country. At best, they are a militia. Trump somehow thinks he can achieve a unilateral agreement with this radical group of militants and then hand it to the real government of Afghanistan. Who does this? Trump’s claim that he is meeting with the president of Afghanistan “separately” is insulting. That would be tantamount to another country talking to the Governor of California and going around the White House. Imagine how Trump would react.

For Mike Pompeo to go on all the Sunday morning TV talk shows and say that American forces have killed over 1,000 Taliban in the last ten days and that “while this is not a war of attrition, I want the American people to know that President Trump is taking it to the Taliban” clearly reveals how far we’ve gotten with the Taliban.

While Trump is complaining about 12 “innocent people” being killed, his Secretary of State, a position that is supposed to solve problems around the world with diplomacy, is bragging about killing one hundred Taliban insurgents a day for the last ten days. Who are these people in our government? How can this be the right time for peace talks?

Donald Trump thinks everyone else shares his lofty opinion of himself. Not true. The people who run other countries didn’t read his stupid book about deal making. Candidate Trump constantly said that he would never show his hand when dealing with international hotspots and military actions, but he transmits much of his intentions on Twitter and adlibbed press briefings. He’s a walking contradiction who shows too much. Trump has said he wants to get our troops out of Afghanistan and the whole world knows it. The Taliban considers talking with Trump an opportunity to get their country back and under their draconian control. Peace for us will mean no school for women. What a win!

Some news outlets are reporting that Vice President Pence and National Security Advisor John Bolton were against the idea of having the Taliban on US soil to talk to our President, but Trump is grasping at wins and thinks only in political terms, never applying diplomatic methods. In short, Trump dismisses the power of diplomacy as much as he denies climate change. To quote the former Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, “He’s a fucking moron.”

Trump’s usage of the archaic term, “unbeknownst” is a sign that he finds comfort in being the holder of secrets. This is rather ironic when CNN is reporting that a US asset in Russia had to be recalled because of the fear that Trump cannot keep secrets. It’s all a ridiculous game. I think that Trump is still on the living room floor with his little army of tin soldiers. Instead of being a strong leader he plays politics and believes that he is a great salesman. It’s the same mistake everyone who supports him has made. They believed his biggest lie. If he cannot convince more than 42% of the country that he knows what he’s doing, he’s a substandard sales rep at best.

The Taliban is not a government. Why would we ever treat them as such? Even the lucky-sperm newborn Neo-Con Liz Cheney decried the idea of the group that harbored and supported al-Qaeda and bin Laden going to that sacred place called Camp David. The Cheney’s don’t like the Taliban and would have our country in a “permanent” war until they were eliminated.

To pour some salt in the wounds of America, Trump was going for a big PR win the weekend before the annual 9/11 memorial. What a thoughtless son-of-a-bitch. Trump is hurting our country and damaging the world more than any president in my lifetime. We must remember these things when we enter the voting booth.

Read About The Country We Love

The book that tells it like it is…

Gold, God, Guns & Goofballs shows how we’ve wasted our GOLD on bad wars and corruption. While GOD is there for many people as a spiritual enrichment and the provider of glowing feelings, the truth is just praying and believing will not change our major arc. We don’t determine who gets a GUN. We aren’t sure if we have paramilitary groups ready to storm the White House or a White Castle. There is no control of weapons. The GOOFBALLS with the power constantly try to manipulate us into spending more money on bombs and tanks and wars. When all of our institutions are infected with neglect and fall in disrepair, we will only have ourselves to blame. This book is not an antidote for the left or right, it’s an accelerant to move the middle off their collective asses to go do something positive for America.
