Is there a vaccine for it?

Who said it would ever be easy to calm the crazies and far-right and far-left lunatics? I believe that when a Congressperson or news reporter says their number one goal is making a president’s administration unsuccessful, they are voting against America. The Donald Trump administration drummed up support of a loud vocal minority, but much of what it did was not successful in terms of America.

I hate this, but when statements are made, they must be verified. Are there more or fewer countries with nuclear weapons since Trump came to power? There are more. Is the trade imbalance that so many screamed about better or worse? Well, it’s just about the same. Was the bragging that we defeated ISIS just more hype in an administration that gave Afghanistan back to the Taliban? Yeah, that’s about right And, yes, the withdrawal was terrible, but I am sure the Generals behind closed doors were honest about the ineptitude of the Afghan army. By the way, I wonder why members of the Afghanistan government were not involved in those Taliban negotiations that the Trump team finalized?

Taliban Leadership

We now know that unvaccinated people have an 11% greater chance of dying of Covid-19. So, the Biden administration worked to get more people vaccinated and the far-right media soon reported it was an OVERREACH by an out-of-control president. The Fox-Brains screamed about using executive orders to get more people vaccinated. Did they forget that Trump signed 220 executive orders in four years? It’s a normal path presidents take to get things done. Why is the practice suddenly demonized? Woodrow Wilson signed some 1,800 orders during his eight years in office. If you care to look, click here.

Clearly, the far-right dumb-sters and hardcore Trumpers in the GOP have taken a stance against any further government management of the global pandemic. Our governor in Florida has placed all his power in the idea to protect “parent’s rights,” even though his actions have clearly hurt children. His vindicative garnishing of schoolboard wages to get back at them for imposing mask mandates is indefensible. As Ron DeSantis’ poll numbers decline, he’s doubling down on a harmful and scornful strategy. After missing so much school kids are now missing even more because of the Covid resurgence. Every expert agrees, better to be in the classroom with a mask on, than at home without one.

Republicans who believed in Trump’s cry to end the war in Afghanistan have done a one-eighty and now sound like they want us to send in more troops to quell the inevitable, an inevitable that Trump brought them. Let’s not forget that Trump wanted to host the Taliban at Camp David on 9-11! Yes, he did. It’s all right here if you want to read about it. And may I mention one more thing? Joe Biden wanted to get out of Afghanistan years ago but was overruled by President, Barack Obama.

Joe Biden is a good president because he’s been in politics so long he has experience with all we’ve done, both right and wrong. He knows that Obamacare was a good idea. because more people have healthcare insurance. He knows that partisan politics and bad press coverage are part of the game. Sure, he likes to be liked, but I am sure he doesn’t lose any sleep over such stuff that doesn’t matter.

Chris Wallace

In Chris Wallace’s new book, Countdown bin Laden: The Untold Story of the 247-Day Hunt to Bring the Mastermind of 9/11 to Justice, the ace reporter and interviewer discloses that the night Obama was making fun of Donald Trump at the Correspondent’s’ Dinner in D.C., his team was working behind the scenes to plan the raid that killed Osama bin Laden the very next night. Chris points out that a president must keep his focus on the important things, even while they are being speared and skewered by self-serving zealots and jealous partisans.

Many people are so wrapped up in the dogma of their dens and tribes they fail to see the bigger picture. The doctor of one of my neighbors asked him why he hadn’t gotten a vaccine yet. My neighbor answered the question with a question, “So it’s really that bad? How many people have died from Covid this year?” The doctor didn’t know the answer. Shame on him! I sure know. In 2021 so far, 100,000 people have died from Covid-19. In eight months, that’s thirty times the death toll of 9-11. Why shouldn’t that be a cause for concern? If your possible death could be eliminated by getting a shot, why wouldn’t you do it? To me it seems unamerican to not get the vaccine.

A president telling everyone to wear a mask and get a shot is not an act of treason. How many more people need to die before the non-vaxxers begin to wonder, “What were we thinking?” Truth be told, they many never reach that point. It’s because Fox News, One America News Network and Newsmax have signed a pact, not with America but with their investors to keep strong ratings. Unless someone starts a sponsor boycott, or sues them, they will continue to tout unsuccessful or dangerous remedies for the coronavirus, looking for every opportunity to exploit the unaware.

They pound the other side hard, but any plausible deniability for them is gone. It’s no longer moral or factual to say that everything our president does is wrong NO MATTER WHAT. Joe Biden took matters into his own hands. Where I come from, we call that leadership. We surely need a leader right now and Joe is our guy. He’s trying to save lives. What on earth is wrong with that?

Biden isn’t the virus, he’s the doctor. And right now, we need to listen to him!

We knew that the great divide in America would have a major effect on the presidential election in the year 2020, but something else was lurking that we didn’t anticipate. The world suffered a global pandemic of Covid-19, and everything changed. The lockdown motivated one author to write MASHED POTATOES: Covid, Cancer & Comfort Food. The cover ironically claims the book is a “humorous” recollection of 2020, but one might ask, “Where was the humor?” This is a work of survival to motivate those who desire to get beyond Covid-19, beat cancer and defend our precious Democracy.  The world got Covid, the writer got cancer and we all ate copious amounts of comfort food. It’s time to swallow the truth, survive the madness, take a large spoon and savor some delicious MASHED POTATOES. Get some here.

Fake Bipartisanship or Real Possibilities?

Politics has always been a game within a game. Congresspeople constantly lie with no consequences other than being censured, thrown off committees, or shunned, all about equal to being sent to the timeout chair. Regardless of whatever turmoil and havoc they may reap, they cannot be sued. They may attempt to hide their lies by saying they are only “asking questions” or that their comments are protected by the First Amendment. Okay.

Then there’s real life with potential consequences for lying. When a person publicly lies about a company or a person and the accused is then harmed by the false information, especially if it affects their livelihood, they can seek damages in court. It was not surprising we learned of another lawsuit being filed against people who for weeks stated that the 2020 election was rigged and that two companies conspired to cause the election loss of Donald John Trump. Those lies hurt both of the businesses and they are not about to take the damaging lies lying down.

According to CNBC, Legal experts say that Dominion’s and Smartmatic’s defamation cases against Trump backers are credible. While the voting system makers have asked for billions of dollars in damages, those figures could change dramatically as the cases unfold. Both companies’ cases against Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell may prove more straightforward than Smartmatic’s suit against Fox News, which has claimed that it was just “covering the news,” but this morning another lawsuit was delivered to Fox News. See the Sydney Powell lawsuit here: gov.uscourts.dcd.225699.22.2-3

Dominion Voting Systems has filed a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News, arguing that, in an effort to boost faltering ratings, the cable news giant falsely claimed that the voting company had rigged the 2020 election. This was reported in a USA Today story.

The News Corporation is the company that owns Fox News, and I assume they will defend against the lawsuit by saying that Trump and his minions made a public claim that they were merely “covering the news” related to that. Sure, they may have reported on the more than fifty lawsuits that Trump and his campaign had lost challenging the results of the election, but the greater number of stories they ran on the voter fraud claim certainly exceeded the boundaries of fair and balanced coverage.

I suppose Fox could argue in court the difference between the “news” part of their channel and the “entertainment” or “opinion” hosts who anchor at night, but their overarching purpose is right there in their name, Fox News. They promote themselves as a news source and that implies professional journalistic traditions, reasonable sourcing and comprehensive investigating before airing allegations of fraud. I’m sure the Fox News lawyers had a bad day when they heard this next item reported by NBC News.

Ex-Trump attorney Sidney Powell’s weekslong campaign to invalidate the results of the 2020 election was not based in fact, her lawyers said, “No reasonable person would conclude that the statements were truly statements of fact.” Here’s where I must make the obligatory statement that I am not an attorney, but I have played one on YouTube videos, and this sounds like total bullshit.

Should Ms. Powell echo this defense under oath, she is either saying that she was lying all along and knew she was lying, therefore, her words pulled a major news network into the fraud of saying there was a fraud, or she’s saying that the people owning, managing and running Fox News are so stupid they were easily manipulated into believing the lies. If Fox owned a licensed, over-the-air TV or radio station in the US, they could easily be challenged and made to relinquish their license to a more responsible broadcaster. Cable channels are not licensed so they face no such jeopardy.

It’s juries, judges and legal scholars, not politicians, who are piloting the rebirth of truth in America. We are watchful when a case goes to court, especially the highest court, but once the Supremes speak there is no further recourse. If all their lawsuits are won in court, the combined payout to Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic could amount to more than $5 billion. Fox News will surely settle out of court, but for Ms. Powell and Rudy Giuliani, judgements against them could mean bankruptcy and disbarment. Sydney Powell’s admission of continuously repeating a false claim means certain disbarment.

Some people see defending the Constitution and protecting the integrity of the election process in this country as a bipartisan cause, but that is not at all correct. By their actions of introducing and passing measures in state legislatures that can best be called voter suppression, it’s clear that Republicans are running scared. Because they lost so many contests, like the House, the Senate and the White House, they are trying to “fix” their election problems by making it harder for Democrats and older Black Americans to vote. In clear daylight, they are trying to turn off the lights by disenfranchising voters right and left.

Maybe Sydney and Rudy can just say they were hired guns and they believed what their client, Donald Trump, was telling them and we’ve covered that matter on these pages in the past. An attorney cannot knowingly lie in court, even if their client assures them it’s the truth. Whenever a lawyer admits to knowing they were lying, they’re in trouble. After the fiasco news conference when Ms. Powell lied about fraud within the voting machine companies without offering evidence of her claims, the Trump people put out a statement saying she was no longer “officially” on the Trump legal team but would be working independently. Okay, I’m not sure what that status means, but she never stopped with the lies.

Sydney Powel is finished as a lawyer. Exercising my First Amendment rights, I’ll add that she’s a damn shitty attorney and anti-American zealot with no moral grounding. Rudy Giuliani is a washed-up, blathering old fool with a misguided view of justice, the law and truth. The legal profession should expel them both and clean up the craft.

American Protest

Some people in this country believe that everything is rigged, but such misinformation can be slowly dissolved with sharp reporting presented with clarity and facts. Things change quickly, Andrew Cuomo was a kind of hero at the beginning of the pandemic, now he has been brought down to size by the truth. I don’t care what party he represents, he’s a pig and a liar, “Out, damn spot.”

Slowly but surely people are starting to realize that Donald Trump lied all the time and was instrumental in the loss of lives during the Capitol Hill insurrection. Today, Trump went on TV and said the people from his rally were met with open arms by the Capital Police force. No one pushed back to challenge him about the loss of life caused by the riots. If Fox News, One America News Network and Newsmax fail to provide truthful journalism, they must pay a price.

The Manipulation of Donald Trump

There are times when I laugh at our President. He lies, yes, but he also has a repulsive arrogance about his “power.” It’s another myth held by this imbecilic fat man. He isn’t picking the judges; they are being picked for him. I doubt that Donald John Trump has taken the time to read the writings and decisions of his nominees. They appear on a list put together by hard-core conservatives and people who run the Heritage Foundation, and Trump blindly follows.

The Heritage Foundation is a think tank based in Washington, D.C. which claims their primarily function is influencing public policy. The foundation was behind much of what spewed from the mouth of Ronald Reagan because, as a former Democrat and union leader, he was “taught how to be a conservative.” For all his conservative badges, Regan was a tax raising lunatic. The Economic Recovery Act of 1981, known politically as the “Reagan tax cuts,” was indeed the largest reduction since the previous 70 years. But, as the man said, “The large print giveth; the small print taketh away.” It’s a fact that those “cuts” produced tax increases. Some say the increases were bigger than the cuts. Thanks, Ronnie.

Most presidents feel a need to kowtow to those who give them money. Some candidates attempt to put together a fan base by combining smaller groups with specific goals that can be easily massaged or gratified. Trump used a simple ploy by bonding with the evangelicals and claiming he is pro-life, even though he’s never held that belief. He claims his loyalty to the Second Amendment, and the NRA buys ads for him. He ignores some fundamental words of that amendment “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

First, what does “well regulated” mean? I’m not sure why that term was not hyphenated, but that doesn’t change its meaning. A judge, especially a Supreme Court justice, should not pump meaning into a set of words. Instead, they must pass judgement on a wide range of challenges to our laws. Jurisprudence, an interesting term, deals with the theory or philosophy of law and, digging deeper, we see that philosophy is the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline. If you think any of the Supreme Court justices can throw off all their biases and viewpoints based on their own personal reality, then you are a fool. However, that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t try to be impartial.

A bad decision or poorly worded dissent from the Supreme Court lasts forever. People will read those rulings for decades, even centuries. Amy Coney Barrett, Trump’s nominee to the Court, is morally opposed to abortion or the right of a woman to choose, but that is why she was picked. It’s quite a strange reason. Why are we packing the court with people philosophically against previously decided law? Well, it’s because our system is deficient and our highly imperfect President is messing things up even more. Justice Barrett won’t be a bad judge, but she will be an intolerant judge because she is an intolerant person. Read what she has written and said about Roe Vs. Wade. Check out her thoughts about why a convicted felon, no matter what the charge, should be able to own a gun. She’s prejudiced regarding some established laws and traditions and unable to see the better good by keeping existing laws intact.

Angry Single Senator from S.C.

The circus that Senator Lindsey Graham will chair in the Judiciary Committee is not necessary. The Republicans will get their woman and, if the Democrats take over, they will add justices to the court. Then, as the more conservative, older judges retire or die, the Court will go back to nine justices. It’s the way politics work.

Possibly the first case Judge Barrett will encounter will be deciding whether the Affordable Care Act should be stuck down. Even though this Act has already cleared other Supreme Court decisions, it could be ended in a Supreme Court ruling which would eliminate the healthcare insurance of 20 million people. Wouldn’t that automatically send 20 million voters to the other guy running for President? We’ll see.

Donald Trump hugs the flag and constantly lies about his beliefs. He evaluates all situations based on whether or not they are good for him. Our Adolescent in Chief doesn’t have the intellectual depth to comprehend the impact of his words. I think he genuinely wants to tear everything down before he leaves. By the way, he will leave, if not in January 2021 then four years later.

The Great Divider

My feelings are simple. I would like our nine Supreme Court justices to NOT be forces of religious belief. They should be unbiased to a fault and non-political. Sure, you can get in there and overturn Roe Vs. Wade but will Congress then increase healthcare services for women and funding to help unwanted, possibly unloved, babies achieve a “Christian” upbringing. These “highly religious” types are hypocrites who want to control a woman’s choice but will look the other way when single moms need help. They will talk about pulling oneself up by their bootstraps. What a shitty thing to say.

Fox News once used the inappropriate tag line “Fair & Balanced.” It was a total lie, but people believed it. If the Supreme Court can rule that your doctor is not allowed to provide the care you want, then maybe the government should have told Donald Trump that he couldn’t have that experimental COVID treatment. He could have pulled himself by the bootstraps and toughed it out. Of course, he’s more important than that girl who was raped on campus and needs to abort that damage, that unwanted memory of the pain and crime. Does Ms. Barrett understand the issue of rape and how she should protect women from the state’s overreach? We don’t have a militia to protect those women, but maybe that will become their plan should their rights be taken away.

SMART TOUGH GIRLS are coming to America. Get ready.

Brave New Trump, Just Ignore Problems

There was a running routine in the Three Stooges comedy movies in which the three men were in a small bed together attempting to sleep. Brother Larry Fine was snoring loudly which motivated brother Moe, the antagonist, to slap him and use this ironic line, “Wake up and go to sleep!” America is in this place right now, and the adversary in our current story is the President of the United States.

Donald Trump attempts to be the president he has defined as “normal,” but his actions fail to mirror any reasonable or customary expectations. When one says to me that I should respect the office of the presidency, that doesn’t mean I have to award the current resident of the White House deference he hasn’t earned. After reviewing his hundreds of actions, thousands of comments and stacks of executive orders, I have no reverence for Donald Trump’s administration. To the contrary, I disagree with 99.999% of all he’s done.

When the COVID-19 global pandemic appeared, Trump was faced with something he claimed had totally taken him by surprise. It didn’t take medical professionals and scientists by surprise; they knew the facts and even authored papers about it. Because Trump decided the pandemic would never be a problem, his administration expelled many experts who could have helped him and us with competent public health decisions.

It’s too bad Trump didn’t bother to surf the internet. Had he done so he might have learned about the ongoing struggle between man and virus. If Trump just looked at Wikipedia he would have seen this. During Donald Trump’s time in office, the world has suffered through Dengue fever in Pakistan, Gorakhpur encephalitis, the 2017 flu, the Nipah virus outbreak, the Kivu Ebola epidemic and measles eruptions in the Congo, New Zealand and the Philippines. There have been Kuala Koh, Samoa measles and then, the big one, COVID-19. The slowness in Donald Trump’s action and the overly naïve way he downplayed the reality of this virus led to more disease and death than was necessary. It’s Trump’s fault that we have had unnecessary death.

Trump made a Faustian bargain and sold his soul to the greed and money devil. Simply put, Trump has decided that all we have to do is kill some of our elderly, sick and weak citizens to get the economy moving. He justifies the need to grow the economy through more deaths but, until the man himself gets the virus, he will never take it seriously. I froze when I heard a teenager answering a TV reporter’s question about why he wasn’t wearing a mask. “Why should I wear a mask, the President doesn’t wear one.” That’s when I understood this whole human kindness thing was over and that Trump’s words and lack of action on this one aspect of the pandemic was utterly hurtful and stupid, I cannot scream this loudly enough.

You don’t stop someone’s snoring by slapping them awake then telling them to go back to sleep. They will eventually slip into a deeper state and begin snoring again. The reason people snore when sleeping is because they aren’t breathing properly. The concept of not being able to breathe has a new, special meaning in America, but it’s just another virus that Trump will deny. He’s incompetent and cannot deal with the racism hurting our country, as evidenced by this comment he made in Dallas last week, “The work of confronting bigotry and prejudice will ‘go quickly and it’ll go very easily.’” The man clearly lacks intelligence. A peace treaty in the Middle East and the eradication of racism in America cannot be fixed by Trump’s magic wand. As for racism, America has known it since 1619, the year the first slave was brought to America from Africa. But let’s get back to our snoring problem.

According to, “US Governors across America have eased lockdowns, but a new analysis shows coronavirus cases are rising in nearly half of U.S. states.” The Washington Post reports, “Since the start of June, 14 states and Puerto Rico have recorded their highest seven-day averages of new coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. Those states are Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Kentucky, New Mexico, North Carolina, Mississippi, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.” Two big lies are exposed here. One is the half-baked presidential theory that when the temperature goes up the virus will go away, like a “miracle.” The other is the hype and push by Trump to open the country based on his “analysis” of which states could reopen. The Republican governors first carried his water and they are now carrying caskets. Trump’s push to restart the economy has caused the virus to spread faster in many states.

Trump has moved on from the global pandemic and has pushed the COVID-19 Task Force from public view. It has been more than a month since the last nationally televised press conference by this important group. It’s clearly Trump’s way of taking emphasis off healthcare, medicine and virus-fighting in favor of goosing the stock market. Trump dastardly deeds have not only hurt people, they have killed people and, apparently, he has decided it doesn’t matter.

Grasp the gravity of these statistics. The New York Times reports 115,472 people have died from coronavirus in the United States. There have been at least 75,560 cases of coronavirus in Florida and at least 2,930 people have died there. The state of Georgia has seen 54,874 cases of coronavirus with at least 2,416 deaths. There have been at least 35,953 cases of coronavirus in Arizona and at least 1,194 people have died. As of Monday morning, Texas has seen at least 89,542 cases of coronavirus with at least 1,995 people dead. These are the states that followed our inept leader. They reopened early and are now suffering from the weight of Trump’s ignorance. This did not have to happen.

I could go on, but I’m sure you can see the picture. After being taunted by Governors and public healthcare officials, Donald Trump finally told us the global pandemic was going to be bad and that we should all be angry with China for starting it. His vindictiveness was more important to him than strong public health measures. He urged you to follow his White House guidelines, then unilaterally disregarded them, including the need to wear a mask in public. Donald Trump is a denier and that’s dangerous. People are dying. Don’t wake up and then go back to sleep; wake up and stay awake!

Trump seeks the approval of his mysterious base of miscreants and forges that feedback into public policy. Republicans often claim that whistleblowers and other strong voices of dissent are not credible because those folks were not ELECTED. May I remind those right-wing wackos that Supreme Court justices are also not elected, yet they decide how we live our lives under the rule of law. Let’s also remember that Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson were never elected, yet they have a strangely powerful influence over Trump on public policy. Who vetted them?

We will be able to breath better and protect our rights, but to do so we must remove Trump from office.

If you read this book, you can see why all this happened to us.

The book that tells it like it is…

Dangerous Rhetoric Trumps Expertise

As I watch this passion play of a global pandemic, there are times I want to ask how our highly educated and experienced experts do not just lose it. One would hope that cooperation and compromise would drive the narrative during this horrible event, but it’s not what seems to be important to judges, governors or the President. By his actions and words, it’s perfectly clear that Donald Trump would like this whole COVID-19 thing to simply go away, but it won’t.

During the hearing in the Senate, Dr. Anthony Fauci gave those who questioned him very direct and, at times, frightening information and advice. For the most part, the elected Senators were open to his help. Aside from Rand Paul, who sought to discredit and denigrate Dr. Fauci, most Senators know that we need a vigorous plan to test as many people as possible, otherwise we will never know the extend and power of the virus. Senator Paul says he refuses to wear a mask because he had the virus and recovered. His assumption that he cannot be re-infected or spread the virus has not been proven by science. Ironically, Rand Paul is an eye doctor and should know that his avoidance of a face mask could hurt someone. Maybe he doesn’t care.

Yesterday, in a meeting with two Governors in the White House, Trump was once again pontificating and misleading people. He decided to answer some questions, which is always a risk for this President. When asked about Dr. Fauci’s testimony in the Senate, Trump bristled and commented that Fauci is trying to play “all sides” of the equation, oblivious to the fact that an equation has only two sides. No one had the nerve to ask, “WHAT SIDES?” as Trump, once again, drew a redline that separates us into “You are either with me or against me” in this fight to reopen the country. The virus knows no sides and fighting it should be the focus of us all.

When a reporter asked what Trump thought of the warnings about opening schools too early, the President said Fauci’s warnings about reopening amid coronavirus crisis are “not acceptable.” Imagine a patient meeting with their doctor who has just stated that they have cancer. Most normal people would ask, “How bad?” or, “How much time do I have?” In that circumstance Donald Trump would likely reply that the advice is unacceptable. REALLY? You know, you still have cancer, right?

During the testimony in the House of Dr. Rick Bright, director of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, he slammed the Trump administration’s COVID-19 response and urged lawmakers to listen to the voices of scientists and predicted “unprecedented illness and fatalities.” Trump’s comeback was to say that Dr. Bright is just a disgruntled employee. Okay, another person telling the truth gets put on the “I don’t know him. I have never met him” human category. Why has Trump not met the guy in charge of a vaccine? Negligence or Arrogance?

Rational, intelligent human beings of the world know not to take Trump seriously, but he’s the leader of the free world. Why can’t Trump plainly relay the facts and fear, say something positive and then move on? Everything has to be a fight with someone, something or an institution. He cannot stay on message and he cannot stay focused on the most important time in modern American history.

Why is Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, trying to force premature openings in states where he wants to win in November? Recent polls and data show that only 26% to 30% of the people in this country trust his advice and opinions on the COVID crisis. In fact, a number from says that, “Three-quarters of Americans (75%) believe it is likely that state-level plans to reopen large sectors of their economies could result in an increase in COVID-19 cases.” Trump has no credibility with Democrats and perhaps a slight Republican advantage, but in the end people will blame the man who is in charge. The pointed political question is this, “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” I’m willing to bet that will get a big, loud “NO!”

When this president uses blame as an involuntary reaction to any question or statement he dislikes, the rest of us waste time trying to defend the person being criticized . It happens on “both sides” of any issue and is lacking the leadership needed to resolve and move forward. With the Donald is in the White House, we cannot move on, we cannot resolve, we cannot take expert advice and face this pandemic responsibly and sensibly.

It’s amazing to me that the President cannot unite us on a prudent path to deal with this nemesis that affects every American. No, the man refuses all responsibility of facing and handling the coronavirus crisis. I am not making this up. He plainly said on TV that he takes no responsibility and we all heard him.

Trump seems to be implementing Fauci Free Fridays and Dr. Birx-free-TV lately. He want to avoid talk about the reality of the pandemic so we can forge on with his insane plan to reopen the country regardless of the amount of additional deaths. Fatso wants to open schools, both colleges and K-12, so parents can go back to work and use the state funded babysitter service known as education. Trump references Purdue University, in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, which had only 248 coronavirus cases and two deaths when this post was written. Don’t forget that Purdue students come from all over the country, and even the world, meaning a higher likelihood of more contagion on campus. Opening a college isn’t the same as opening elementary, middle and high schools.

Before we open schools, with their narrow halls and obvious social distancing challenges, we need to be thoughtful and careful. We are now seeing a delayed response to the coronavirus in children with symptoms like Kawasaki disease. Up to 100 children in the UK have been affected and studies suggest the same reaction is being seen in Europe and the United States. Three children, ages 5, 7 and 18, have died from the illness in the state of New York. So, is your rush to open the schools wise at all, Mr. President?  What are you thinking?

Here’s a message for all those Fox News TV personalities who claim that Dr. Anthony Fauci is less than honest, or worse, a traitor. Why are you against Fauci? His job to keep America vigilant, safe and healthy is far more important than what you do for your keepers, Lachlan and James Murdoch. Their agenda is making money, and you have a role in the opinions of millions of Americans. Do Fauci’s death threats bother you at all? Your “news” service constantly relays the mutterings and opinions of Donald Trump. What good are you doing by constantly and aggressively condemning experts and scientists?

He’s right when Trump says the press is the enemy of the people, but he’s aiming his barbs at the wrong outlets. Fox News, One America News Network and webcasters like Alex Jones and Info-Wars are the real enemies. They are making things worse, just like Alex Jones did during the Waco siege, by stirring up the far right. That brought ATF and FBI agents to Waco. Did Alex Jones’ words on TV and radio cause death there? It’s impossible to determine his influence, but 82 people were killed by Federal agents and US military during that siege and Alex Jones’ position was against the government. Did his rhetoric plant a seed in Timothy McVie’s mind? Google: Oklahoma City bombing.

We should all pray that there is never a Fauci-free Friday, or any day, when we cannot turn to doctors, nurses, scientists and experts. Donald Trump has become BIG BROTHER. We need experts now more than ever. Let’s not be led into danger and death by Donald Trump, who cares only about his reelection, not the world’s virus.

If you read this book, you can see why all this happened to us.

The book that tells it like it is…

Gold, God, Guns & Goofballs shows how we’ve wasted our GOLD on bad wars and corruption. While GOD is there for many people as a spiritual enrichment and the provider of glowing feelings, the truth is just praying and believing will not change our major arc. We don’t determine who gets a GUN. We aren’t sure if we have paramilitary groups ready to storm the White House or a White Castle. There is no control of weapons. The GOOFBALLS with the power constantly try to manipulate us into spending more money on bombs and tanks and wars. When all of our institutions are infected with neglect and fall in disrepair, we will only have ourselves to blame. This book is not an antidote for the left or right, it’s an accelerant to move the middle off their collective asses to go do something positive for America.

Why Did Trump Politicize a Crisis?

We human beings are challenged by nature, and the way we handle its catastrophes and calamities demonstrate our creative minds and will to survive. When a tornado blows through a midwestern town, we automatically step up, go into action and rescue people from the ruins. We may be confronted with death when the light of day comes, but we pledge to rebuild, remodel and rethink how to guard against the same fate in the future. We even use the cliché, “[Town Name] Strong!” to convince the rest of the world that we will be back.

Donald Trump keeps using the phrase, “invisible enemy” because he, like many others, has figured out that without an electronic microscope one cannot see the coronavirus. These non-living particles invade our bodies, usually in the lungs, and start a war between our immune systems and their camouflaged sharp little crowns. Our body thinks the virus is a friend and lets it multiply and cling to the walls of our organs. Therefore, a patient with the coronavirus has trouble breathing; the growth of the virus blocks the lung’s capacity to process air.

We all know that Donald Trump didn’t invent this virus in a lab. We also know that our President has never been a big believer in science, because he cannot link the value of science to an enterprise. When you build buildings, you argue against the environment because it costs money to comply with the rules. All of this should have been forgotten once Trump got to the White House. He should have evolved and started to use science and experts to our advantage. He didn’t make that transition.

Instead, Trump has promoted and fomented some far-right disdain for experts, up to and including his retweet of the #FireFauci tag. Why? Does he not know that the 20 to 30% of the population who think he walks on water will adopt whatever raw, political meat-dogma he throws into the kennel? He may have ignited protests around the country, but could he not know he’s putting his own voters in harm’s way? Someone called Trump’s political party a “death cult,” because people are going to get the virus by protesting without masks and social distancing. That’s bit rough, but it does have a ring.

I have concluded that Trump politicized this virus and global pandemic because he just doesn’t know what else to do. He was on the stage at the briefings telling us that the virus was going to go away. Remember, “Fifteen down to none.” He told those attending a rally on Monday, March 2, 2020 in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Bojangles’ Coliseum that this virus was a “Democrat hoax.” On that date there were less than two known cases in America, but officials in Santa Clara County, California, have now determined that at least two deaths in early February can now be attributed to COVID-19. So, any idea that Donald Trump knew what was really happening all along is false. On March 2, 2020, I was moved to a different hospital for a minor operation because of COVID-19 infected hospital workers. See, there were signs. By the way, I survived that operation.

When I saw the Governor of New York on TV saying that they have gone over the top of the mountain, I felt much better. However, he also said that 166 people died in the past 24 hours. He doesn’t make me panic, but he does make me think. Gee, that could have been me.

I wonder whether more people would be wearing masks if Andrew Cuomo was president right now. Would we have these protests? Probably yes, and they would have been motivated by the zealous ideolog Fox News opinion show hosts who really are in the panic business. They prey on older conservative viewers for ratings and money. They know if they create fear and dissent, ratings will go up. They will continue to do Trump’s monkey business long after Mr. Dorito Face is gone. It’s what they do.

The stark reality? It will take years for the stock market to come back. It’s also true that this virus and global pandemic will change the way we interact as humans. Until we get a vaccine, we all need to be careful. This isn’t panic talk; it’s simply good health advice. Trump is not the leader we need right now. He doesn’t understand complex conundrums and layered challenges. Sorry, but for all of his talk about being so smart, why does he keep saying the wrong things? He has the best experts around him. He should just communicate facts and well-thought-out advice, but he can’t.

If Trump really understood and believed the science behind the novel coronavirus, he wouldn’t have launched such an aggressive campaign to restart. He wouldn’t have tweeted the word LIBERATE to those states that were trying to keep this pandemic under control. He wouldn’t have wasted time verbally abusing reporters who were asking basic questions about the administration’s role in the response to COVID-19. Donald John Trump fails to understand that the politicizing of the crisis turns off moderates and educated suburban women. It creates doubt.

They say that the biggest hinderances to stock market performance is uncertainty. Trump cannot ignore that maxim and the country will react to his actions, inactions and disruptions. By tweeting about topics not related to the pandemic, Trump reveals his lack of focus, which equates to uncertainty. Tweeting every seven minutes over the weekend and tearing into reporters is terribly beneath the office of the President, but MAGA boy doesn’t at all understand the nuances and negativity of his office and actions.

He cannot conceive that his behavior often makes things worse. He could have done a simple, information-laced presser in the Rose Garden, but his handling of the questions made things worse. If you were an alien viewing that appearance from afar, you probably would have asked, “Who put this guy in charge?” I speak alien.

We need to defeat the Pandemic and remove the man who wasn’t ready for a real crisis. The real panic will come if he’s given more time to destroy America. We must not let that happen.

Will Science & Media Pressure Stop Trump?

We will be deciding soon when and how to reopen our country and economy. The later we decide, the better the odds for success. There is a chance the media has been sucked into Donald Trump’s storyline. Mitigation is a word that is used a lot these days and that applies to a medical solution. Some people think that the left, right and center media have pushed too hard and created panic.

I would like to advance a viewpoint that media hasn’t effectively communicated exactly how deadly this virus is. Sadly, what has helped a bit is famous people either getting the virus or succumbing to it. People are such fans of fame, they see celebrities and public figures as above it all and in some ways, invincible. They aren’t.

It was good that the Prime Minister of the UK, Boris Johnson was released from the hospital and is on the mend. Sadly, Boris was not at all helpful at the beginning of this crisis, saying he would continue to shake hands. There are several video shots of him doing just that. While he was on TV touching other people, the locals were filling up parks and not social distancing at all. When are these powerful people going to realize that they aren’t just politicians? They are role models for their citizens. It’s too bad Johnson got sick and had to be hospitalized, but hopefully he now knows the true nature of the coronavirus.

Trump Giving Reporters the Finger

Trump doesn’t want to talk about his ineffective management of this global pandemic and his sluggish reaction to a serious health crisis, and the press should not mitigate his failures. They need to keep reminding everyone how more lives would have been saved had this president acted smarter and faster. Even Fox News must step up and disconnect from misinformation, lies and, quite frankly, a coverup of the harm they did by their early denials and deceitful reporting. Fox personalities are attempting to say, with a straight face, that they never downplayed the seriousness of the Covid-19 pandemic. You do know, guys, that there is video of you doing that, right?

I know that it’s hard not to keep watching the TV news channels to find out what’s happening. It’s not only a way of staying safe but also a means of keeping us connected to society. I felt much better the day I didn’t watch Trump’s press briefing. He would make a terrible doctor. One minute his tempered words make me feel we will all get through this together, but then he destroys that feeling with petty spats, misinformation, lies about how people vote and his ongoing need to tell us how bad death is. We got that one, professor. I need to know if you have a plan, not all that other theoretical bullshit that wastes the time reporters must spend on fact checking. Why don’t you just give us the facts in your briefings? It would be a great move if you told the reporters you only want questions about the pandemic, not issues like the cost of oil. Really, my gas tank is full, and I have no place to go. Focus on the crisis, orange boy.

This is a very important moment for media. Please listen up. Trump will use you for his own purposes and most of you just repeat his lies, then, a quarter-hour later, you tell us that what the President said was incorrect. So, why do we have to wait for that fact check? Why are you not immediately confronting him during the presser? Just shout out, “That’s not true!” and see the fireworks begin. Yes, if you ask him the “wrong question,” you will extend the press conference and lower the value of the important information. It’s hard, because some of you see the briefings as a way to get at him for a news story, but you are enabling his rambling. If you truly want to help America, keep focus on the facts and the important reason for those briefings. THE COVID-19 VIRUS CRISIS!

I do think that if the White House press corps would keep hitting Trump with critical and important questions, he would either leave or end the briefing earlier. I used to say in business that any meeting lasting more than an hour is a deterrent to productivity. One pundit said, “Why is the president keeping some of the most valuable people standing behind him for two hours when they have much more important work to do?” Ironically, the science team now sits together to the side, within inches of each other?

In the latest episode of the Trump Show we witnessed what many are calling #TrumpMeltdown on Twitter. During Monday’s briefing not only was Trump confronted by reporters on his early inaction during this crisis, but also his contention that he has some absolute power as President. Donald Trump claimed, “I have the ultimate authority. When somebody is the president of the United States, the authority is total and that’s the way it’s got to be.” He didn’t stop there adding, (the governors) “can’t do anything without the approval of the president of the United States.”

Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York, was direct in his criticism of Trump, “I don’t agree! I don’t agree with the president’s legal analysis. The president doesn’t have total authority. We have a constitution. We don’t have a king. We have an elected president. That’s what our founding fathers did when they wrote the constitution.” Cuomo warns of a constitutional crisis “like you haven’t seen in decades” if Trump tries to reopen New York and went so far to urge fellow governors NOT to watch the White House briefings.

The most severe mistake Trump could make would be reopening the country too early and causing a new wave of sickness and death. If that were to happen, Trump would never admit his blunder. Rather he would bullheadedly keep everything open even with another wave of coronavirus hitting Americans. The media cannot mitigate the damage that has already been done by Donald Trump’s ignorance and confusion with science and facts, but they need to step up, confront the man and his lunacy and pressure him into doing the right thing. The media must keep telling America the truth. Sadly, the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, cannot be trusted. If confronted, he will lie. Sad.

Putin Over-Powers Another President

When Donald Trump ran for president, he painted everyone who had come before him as weak and ineffective. And some of the people in this country voted for him, believing his rhetoric that he was a tough guy and a great deal maker. We’re not getting a do-over on this one.

If the last 18 months have shown me anything, it is that Trump is a horrible negotiator and unbelievably sheepish when he is face to face with anyone of power. He was critical of the sitting Prime Minister of Great Britain in a newspaper interview, but denied he said anything negative when standing next to Theresa May. Once again, he called it fake news, which is his go-to line once caught in a lie. The tape recording of the interview that Trump referenced in his denial showed that the reporting was exactly what he said. After all, the newspaper was The Sun, owned by the same person who owns Fox News. Maybe there is something mentally wrong with the 45th President.

So, Trump and Putin had a press conference after their short four-hour discussion today (7-16-2018), and Trump disappointed and embarrassed America stepping into so much crap. It would have been better if he left his shoes and the asshole standing in them in Finland.

Fox News said that the Donald seemed weak and unprepared when he was standing with Putin in Helsinki, Finland. Even Paul Ryan, the Republican Speaker of the House of the United States spoke out, “There is no question that Russia interfered in our election and continues attempts to undermine democracy here and around the world. That is not just the finding of the American intelligence community but also the House Committee on Intelligence. The president must appreciate that Russia is not our ally. There is no moral equivalence between the United States and Russia, which remains hostile to our most basic values and ideals. The United States must be focused on holding Russia accountable and putting an end to its vile attacks on democracy.”

So what do we do now, America? We have a puppet president who is intimidated by strong men to such a degree that he makes unAmerican statements and actions which could harm our nation. Donald J. Trump has sided with Putin and Russia and believes that his own intelligence community cannot be trusted. Our president seems to be more worried about Russia selling gas and oil to Germany than the fact that Russia attempted to disrupt our democracy by meddling in our election.

Not surprisingly, Senator John McCain also rebuked the President after he witnessed Trump’s presentation “Today’s press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory. The damage inflicted by President Trump’s naiveté, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is difficult to calculate. But it is clear that the summit in Helsinki was a tragic mistake.

President Trump proved not only unable, but unwilling to stand up to Putin. He and Putin seemed to be speaking from the same script as the president made a conscious choice to defend a tyrant against the fair questions of a free press, and to grant Putin an uncontested platform to spew propaganda and lies to the world.

It is tempting to describe the press conference as a pathetic rout – as an illustration of the perils of under-preparation and inexperience. But these were not the errant tweets of a novice politician. These were the deliberate choices of a president who seems determined to realize his delusions of a warm relationship with Putin’s regime without any regard for the true nature of his rule, his violent disregard for the sovereignty of his neighbors, his complicity in the slaughter of the Syrian people, his violation of international treaties, and his assault on democratic institutions throughout the world.

Coming close on the heels of President Trump’s bombastic and erratic conduct towards our closest friends and allies in Brussels and Britain, today’s press conference marks a recent low point in the history of the American Presidency. That the president was attended in Helsinki by a team of competent and patriotic advisors makes his blunders and capitulations all the more painful and inexplicable.

No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant. Not only did President Trump fail to speak the truth about an adversary; but speaking for America to the world, our president failed to defend all that makes us who we are—a republic of free people dedicated to the cause of liberty at home and abroad. American presidents must be the champions of that cause if it is to succeed. Americans are waiting and hoping for President Trump to embrace that sacred responsibility. One can only hope they are not waiting totally in vain.” GOD BLESS JOHN MCCAIN.

During the Helsinki press conference, Putin gave Trump a ceremonial soccer ball from the recently concluded World Cup in Moscow. South Carolina Republican Lyndsey Graham showed his thinking and sense of humor by saying, “Meddling & collusion are NOT the same thing. Russia did meddle in 2016 election & are trying it again. I’ve seen no evidence of collusion, plenty evidence of Russian meddling. Russia didn’t beat Clinton. Trump beat Clinton. Bad day for the US. Can be fixed. Must be fixed. Finally, if it were me, I’d check the soccer ball for listening devices and never allow it in the White House.”

The only way to right this ship is for Congress to remove Trump’s power over foreign policy. If the Republicans cannot rein him in, then America should vote more Democrats into office to balance this insanity. And if things get worse, we should not be so shy about advancing a discussion about impeachment. It is clear that Donald J. Trump is unfit to be President of the United States.

Trump Bad Mouths Media

The state slogan of Montana is Oro y Plata, which means Gold and Silver. Perhaps, their recent political headline will set the gold standard on how a Republican should handle the press. Tomorrow we will learn whether the alleged man-handling of a reporter, who just asked a question, had any effect on the special election for their sole member for the House of Representatives. (Because of massive mail-in votes in Montana that were cast before the incident and the fact that the state is primarily Republican, Greg Gianforte won the election and will take the vacant seat).

From Fox News web site (5-25-2017):

Ben Jacobs of The Guardian — walked into the room with a voice recorder, put it up to Gianforte’s face and began asking if he had a response to the newly released Congressional Budget Office report on the American Health Care Act. Gianforte told him he would get to him later. Jacobs persisted with his question. Gianforte told him to talk to his press guy, Shane Scanlon.

At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. … I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the reporter. As Gianforte moved on top of Jacobs, he began yelling something to the effect of, “I’m sick and tired of this!”

Nixon, the first president to regularly refer to reporters as “the media” and stayed away from the more Constitutionally acceptable term, “the press”, lives on in the Trump Administration.

From the First Amendment:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.”

I have long believed that activities of some people are usually based on some kind of whisper or permission slip from someone else higher up in power. In this case, perhaps Gianforte was just having a bad multi-millionaire day. Poor Baby!

The “press” says that Gianforte and his wife founded the customer relationship management software company called RightNow Technologies. They certainly must have a grasp of helping customers be successful, or in this case the voter, for positive gains and results. What positives can come from a body slam?

Trump is the source of the negative energy toward the press and the “mainstream media.” A very dear friend of mine just said, “I don’t know what to believe anymore.” Deep inside that sentence is the dogmatic doubt and disingenuous evaluation of our press as all evil, all wrong, all uninformed. How can one TV news network keep belittling all the other media outlets, when they themselves are a “Media” outlet? No brotherhood, no defense when you do wrong. Read: sexual harassment.

When the President focuses on the leaks rather than the truth, he drives a wedge between the purpose of the press in a democracy and the responsibility of any administration to manage its information.

Trump’s team is horrible at messaging and their boss is worse. With all the golf Donald plays, he certainly should understand what a wedge does. Certainly, he knows the difference between a pitching wedge and a sand wedge.

Instead of thoughtfully using a wedge to get himself out of the sand trap of anti-press philosophy, he generally pulls a driver and whacks the press with it. Instead of making the press wither, it makes them stronger. His harangue makes the media motivated to work harder. The greater the number of shots the press takes the more they will find even more things you are doing; right or wrong.

There is no physical contact in Golf and shouldn’t be any in politics. During the campaign, Donald Trump said it’s very appropriate for his supporters to beat protesters at his rallies. Candidate Trump added as a protester was being escorted away, “The guards are being very gentle with him… I’d like to punch him in the face, I’ll tell you that.”

Now that Donald J. Trump is President of the United States many seem to disregard what the “candidate” said compared to what the President utters. But really folks, the damage is already done. Trump said it was okay, he won the election, therefore those activities are okay. He has already declared war on the press. The media armies are not going away. They are marching toward him. Even Fox News (above) is forced to tell the truth.

Any fool can launch a web site and blast out their true feelings and thoughts. We are all THE PRESS. We are all THE MEDIA.
