THE SOLUTION TO GUNS IS EASY

We must change the Second Amendment

I am not being flippant; I am being logical. You see, gun owners, politicians, fanatics, domestic terrorists and others keep using the same source to justify why they should be able to own, carry and discharge their weapons. It’s time to correct the actual problem because a law that gives “rights” to one set of citizens is wreaking havoc and death on another. It’s unreasonable to say NOT taking guns away from law abiding citizens is the answer when we have no idea who those people actually are. How do we separate the well intentioned from those who intend harm and mayhem?

The NRA responded to a mass shooting more than a decade ago when their leader, Wayne LaPierre, stood at the microphone to pronounce a war cry, “The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun.” Okay, but whenever I hear that slogan I must ask, “How did the bad gun get the gun?” Sadly, the answer to that question doesn’t seem to matter to the mouth-breathers who are in love with guns. Most of them got their guns legally or they took a legally purchased gun from their stupid parents.

The founding fathers wanted to make sure the farmers and citizens had guns, because of fear that Great Britain would come back and try to regain their land. They wanted THEIR country back, even though they had stolen the land from the Native Americans. Slaves and non-citizens were never going to get guns, because people like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson owned slaves and they needed that free labor to keep their farms prosperous. And newsflash, they used guns to keep those workers in line.

Of course, George, Thomas and the rest of the Continental Congress had no idea how advanced firearms would become when they wrote these words into America’s bible, the Constitution, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” These twenty-seven words might keep some people of this land feeling like they are in control, but in reality no one is in control whether they own one or thousands of guns. The house, in this case the government, always wins.

Let’s explore the language of the amendment that is causing grown men and women to totally ignore the problem that having too many guns is causing. First of all, the founders introduce the premise that a “well-regulated” citizen army is a grand idea to protect our “free state.” They essentially were saying, “In order to have a well-regulated militia we cannot make a law that infringes the right of the people to keep and bear arms because those citizens could be called upon to defend this nation and the only way they are going to be effective is if they have their own guns. Okay, got it, promising idea.

Now here we are in 2022, when a kid goes out on his 18th birthday and buys an AR-15 assault weapon along with hundreds of rounds of ammo. He has not joined a militia and has no intent of protecting “our free state.” So, his use of the gun has not been mandated by the Second Amendment in any way. In fact, the use of an automatic rifle or other weapon of mass destruction for any other purpose is against the law. The kid in Uvalde, Texas was not protecting our nation from a bunch of nine-year-old school kids. He was nothing less than a domestic terrorist and murderer.

Our Constitution does not say that “well-regulated” cannot include background checks, registration of arms, a national database that could track people buying large guns and amounts of ammunition. One of the things other counties ask in their gun registration procedures is “What is the genuine need and use of the firearm?” We could do that here. In fact, I am proposing to codify such things in the amendment itself. I will get to my rewrite of the Second Amendment shortly.

I doubt anyone would declare their use of a weapon is to murder some kids in school, but may I ask this? Why is a kid under 25 years of age buying an automatic weapon? I come from a family of hunters and no one who hunts for sport and meat would use an automatic weapon. The gun would destroy too much of the target. So, why are citizens buying these guns? Another newsflash, almost all of the mass shootings done at schools and public gatherings were pertpetrated by men 18 – 21 years of age. So, maybe they aren’t ready to own firearms, we don’t sell them alcohol.

Oh, some will say it’s for protection. Protection from other owners of big guns make sense, but why is this necessary? It was said the cops in Texas were at a serious disadvantage because the killer had an AR-15 and they had only service revolvers. Really? Why did we make it easy for bad guys to acquire better guns than the police? We don’t need an arms race, we need more laws, more review, better red flag detection and the community’s ability to study, interview, counsel and control mentally ill young men. Unless we invest in such forms of intervention, we have no reason to talk about mental illness after every shooting.

The NRA gives millions of dollars to politicians, which was caused by a lack of sound reasoning on the part of the Supreme Court. They pointed to the First Amendment and allowed vast amounts of dark and dirty money into our constitutional government. The influence of the NRA is off the charts and the Supreme Court is to blame. When Justice Gorsuch declared that corporations have the same rights as the individual, he devalued the US citizenry. He’s a bad guy; but does he own a gun?

Here’s a Second Amendment rewrite that just might make things better, “There may be a time, when the government of the United States of America needs a well-regulated Militia or citizen army to help our Armed Forces keep and secure a free State. When asked, the people who have legally procured firearms can be sworn into this role and use those arms to defend the country. There are other recreational uses of firearms, and the State shall not make a law forbidding such ownership or usage. Any use of a firearm to harm or kill a United States citizen is not part of this right.”

If you don’t get it, I cannot help you. It’s not the Republican party that’s at fault, there are many Democrats who are also held in gun rapture. Too many males need to boost their manly confidence by holding a powerful artificial penis in their hands. You know, it might be a good thing if we had more rapists killed by women with guns. However, we cannot talk about saving the lives of the unborn, and with the same breath demanding that our broken system of gun control cannot be changed, all the while standing by doing nothing as little-baby bodies are torn to shreds by a madman’s weapon. Those who say nothing should be done or can be done are moral voids. And just to keep it a hundred percent, I say to them, “FUCK YOU!”

CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY

A Death Sentence for Our Children

Boy George has a great song named War that goes like this, “…war is stupid, and people are stupid, and love means nothing in some strange quarters…” He’s right. Wars kill people and they’re “stupid,” but when our society allows stupid people to carry and use weapons of mass destruction, then just who are we?

Back on December 8, 2021, after a school shooting in Michigan, I wrote a screed against gun violence that was published as a letter to the editor in my local newspaper. Here is what I said:

“A mass school shooting aided by the parents, what? We appear to be an incompetent nation without the ingenuity to solve a problem that kills our kids. First, how did a fifteen-year-old kid in Michigan get an automatic weapon? And then, how did the shooter get the gun into the building? The parents and the school knew something might happen but did nothing to protect others. What about metal detectors? Should schools have metal detectors at every entry? Experts say they don’t work. Okay, but we use them at many events. The real challenge for educators is that every door would need a detector and armed guards to administer the devices. Educators think they would make students feel like they are in prison. So, I guess being in prison is safer than going to school? Most large events kids go to deploy full body searches and/or metal detectors to keep the high-priced talent performing safe. It’s baffling we cannot protect our children. Here’s an idea, let’s put a mega-tax on every weapon and box of ammunition that goes directly into federal funding for security at schools. Even the NRA claims they are for gun safety, time to prove it.”

What’s most ironic about this last shooting are the mere words “last shooting.” They’re oxymoronic and ridiculous. It’s not the last shooting but just the latest school bloodbath. Let the New York Times paint the picture for you, “Gunman Kills 19 Students in Texas Elementary School. It was the deadliest school shooting since the 2012 massacre in Newtown, Conn.”

How many parents must bury their kids before Congress, or the educators who have sworn to protect our kids, step up with concrete laws, or at least some ideas, about ways to stop these insane attacks on our children? While many folks in our government are wasting millions of dollars fighting to save a fetus, even if it’s a by-product of rape or incest, they are doing nothing to stop crazy people from entering our schools and gunning down our living, breathing offspring. Where’s the logic?

Governor Greg Abbott chided his state citizens when a report came out that California sold more guns than Texas. Maybe that was just a frivolous tweet sent out by the man who is paralyzed from the waist down who wants to see his state brethren better armed for…what? I mention his physical state because it’s a fitting metaphor for all the Republicans caught up in the rapture of the NRA and their draconian policies.

Abbott: Reality Denier

The NRA will meet this weekend in Houston, Texas, and they have lined up some big-name politicians to speak at their fund-raising event including Abbott, Senator Ted Cruz and ex-president Donald Trump. I suspect there will be no mention of the latest school carnage, which the Times reports, “…took place just before noon at Robb Elementary School, where second through fourth graders in Uvalde, a small city west of San Antonio, were preparing to start summer break this week.” Jesus Christ, “slayings,” the handiwork of a crazed student who legally gifted himself a couple of guns on his eighteenth birthday. Happy birthday, Dear Salvador.

Here’s an idea. Why not have a national database of young men who buy substantial amounts of ammo, automatic weapons and body armor in a short amount of time? That would be a reasonable way to matrix data points and perhaps catch a crazy. It’s how we track down terrorists, and are these school killers not domestic terrorists?

When does the outrage kick in, people? When will we exert some effort to fully understand the meaning of our founders when they wrote: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Let’s examine the first part, “A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free state…” The kid who killed twenty-one people in a small peaceful town in Texas was not securing a free state, he was disrupting a free state. Had he been the member of a “militia,” it would be guilty of conspiracy to commit mass murder, which is against the law in every state. If the words “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms…” are sacred, then we must equally enforce the meaning of “well-regulated.” Unless we accept the totality of the statement we are doing our founders a deep disservice.

Domestic Terrorist

We all realize nothing is going to happen. The “strange quarters” that most red-blooded Republicans inhabit is a place where the sin and pain of mass killings don’t move them as much as the NRA money filling their re-election coffers. According to the website The Trace, the NRA spent $4.2 million in support of Donald Trump and also $12.2 million fighting against Joe Biden’s Presidential campaign. Just like Vladimir Putin preferred Donald Trump, the National Rifle Association also wanted Trump. They knew he would do nothing about gun control.

The NRA fears activists who may get things done and pass common sense gun regulations. But would such laws really stop an 18-year-old asshole kid in Texas from buying expensive guns to shoot up the school? The answer is NO.

While Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy begged for gun violence legislation in his impassioned speech, meeting rooms were being set up in Houston so the NRA can circle its wagons and reload. We won’t ever know the deep-seated pain a teenager is going through, or whether he was bullied to the breaking point, but we do know when and where he bought the guns. Yet we continuously drive along, blindfolded, silent and blasting music in our comfy cocoons while not doing a goddamn thing.

Guns are stupid and kid killers are stupid and, when the smoke clears, we send our thoughts and prayers, patch up the walls, wipe up the blood and gore and move on. Ted Cruz paid for a TV ad showing him cooking bacon on the barrel of an automatic weapon to prove exactly how much the NRA is more important to him than children. It’s funny how QAnon claims Democrats are eating babies in a bizarre pedophile ring, when they are fully behind Constitutional Carry, which simply means a state cannot prohibit a citizen “who can legally possess a firearm” from carrying handguns, rifles or automatic weaponry. It’s ZERO REGULATION, or as I say, a death sentence for the people and children of America. Hey, it’s your country. What do you say? What will you do?

As for me, well I am radical. I say we change the Second Amendment with a clear definition of who may own a gun. Maybe only one long rifle for each family? Oh, you don’t like that? Well, I don’t like you. Now, where do we go from here?

ABORTION TOURISM

Orwellian Turn to the Right

It’s unclear how the Supreme Court of the United States will deal with the pretzel logic laid out in Justice Alito’s leaked draft opinion concerning abortion, but certainly we are entering a new era in American culture.

My eyes almost popped out of my head when I read this headline in my local paper: “Florida could be abortion heaven.” It talked about a desperate couple from Alabama who drove to the Sunshine State to end an unwanted pregnancy. They were certain a new baby would plunge the family into “inescapable poverty.” Having three kids already, they couldn’t afford to bring another child into the world.

For the last 49 years in the US, abortion was a reasonable and legal recourse for the dilemma of an unwanted child, typically caused by either a lack of family planning or not using birth control. Hey, we all make mistakes, sometimes jokingly saying the unwanted child was “a mistake.” But this brings us to the inevitable mistake, allowing state laws to creep further away from a rational, national, cultural and moral outlook.

George Washington

First, it’s not rational for any state to regulate a woman’s decision regarding her body and medical care. If we were to codify a law declaring a government’s right to dictate an impregnated woman must carry a baby to term, then what’s to stop a state legislature from mandating sterilization of unworthy citizens? For example, consider a law that would be imposed on a welfare family with five kids, saying the husband must help relieve the pressure on the state budget by tying up some tubes. Wait, they could just tie the woman’s tubes while they are at it.

Once the protection of a federal law is lifted, each state would decide whether abortions will be allowed in their jurisdiction. Are we ready for an ad campaign pitches the beauty of the lakes of Michigan, it’s wonderful hiking trails and the legal and safe abortions available there? “Come visit Michigan for your next abortion!”

It’s no surprise to anyone that states like Oklahoma, Texas and Alabama have passed draconian abortion laws preventing women’s health decisions. It’s particularly amazing that a female governor in Alabama would sign a law that will create a greater burden on her state’s welfare system. Governor Kay Ivey was the person who decried those who didn’t get vaccines during the pandemic. She blamed them for messing up her state. That position means she understands the effects of medical science, but she succumbed to the forces of the evangelicals in her state.

So, once again, and just like slavery, these United States will separate into bastions of those who care about civil rights and those see a need to interfere in decisions between women and their doctors. The malfeasance of these laws flows from how poorly they are written, and it angers me greatly that members of the Supreme Court cannot recognize poor legal language when they read it. I wrote a letter to Chief Justice John Roberts after the Texas abortion law passed and his court refused to order a stay. I simply asked, “Did the justices read the act?” A law demanding citizens to turn in other citizens for a bounty is straightforward evidence the state is being lazy. Offering a $10,000 reward for handing over a woman and her doctor is fucked up. That’s a legal term.

“Bearing false witness” against our neighbors has been part of our dogma drenched in legal justification over centuries. The hypocritical words of the anti-abortionists will come back to bite them. I’m willing to bet it won’t be long before good investigative journalists will disclose big mouths, like Matt Gaetz for example, paid for many abortions to avoid the distraction. There’s a plain difference between an unplanned child plunging a family into inescapable poverty and making a significant other get an abortion just to keep a reputation private, with the latter being true “how do you sleep” behavior.

George Orwell

The Orwellian turn here is non-elected zealots have forced our lawmakers into a box they feel they cannot escape. The far-right agitators claim that every life is precious, and they must protect the fertilized egg of an over-aggressive teenager, a violent rapist or a father who defrocked his own daughter. They declare such things are no business of the state. REALLY? Are we going to force these women to carry the representation of a mistake, a crime or a brutal attack? Where is the morality in that?

Timing is everything. HBO is currently running a documentary on the amazing linguist and comedian George Carlin. In the special, George addresses “the sanctity of life.” Carlin says, “But you know, the longer you listen to this abortion debate, the more you hear this phrase ‘sanctity of life’. You’ve heard that. Sanctity of life. You believe in it? Personally, I think it’s a bunch of shit. Well, I mean, life is sacred? Who said so? God? Hey, if you read history, you realize that God is one of the leading causes of death. Has been for thousands of years. Hindus, Muslims, Jews, Christians all taking turns killing each other ‘cuz God told them it was a good idea.”

George Carlin

Yes, George is right, the people who want abortion to be illegal in the United States of America will have the money to fly to another country to help their little Sally or Brenda get an abortion, allowing that unwanted inconvenience to, poof, just go away. You know the drill, “Sally, once this is over, we’ll never talk about this ever again.” All the while Katisha in Alabama is legally forced to carry her fourth child while looking for a minimum wage job. While the bible-thumping assholes are banning abortion they are also voting against increasing the minimum wage. Can’t you see? It’s an unmistakable cycle of keeping the poor down.

Dare I call it political racism, only to be thrown into the cancel culture box while those brainless grifters in Congress wearing their $800 suits tell us what is morally correct? And their manipulators, screaming from the pulpits and biased TV networks, keep the pressure on them to, you know, “Do the right thing!” Abortion is murder and that’s bad. Got it? Okay, here’s another $40 billion in aid to buy more weapons to kill people.

For my younger readers, the words of George Carlin are not from last week, they are from early 2000s. Twenty years ago, Mr. Carlin predicted this would be the tactic and he intuitively knew that, sooner or later, the rich and powerful minority would cast the first stone against many hard-working people. As he pointed out, the whole country is controlled by nine hundred folks with money and all the power. When they use it improperly, their actions hurt the little guys.

Someone said the other day that this debate about abortion isn’t about being pro-choice or pro-life. Those who want to make abortion illegal and unsafe are ANTI-WOMEN. Yes, that’s it. Canadian author Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaiden’s Tale shows us it isn’t solely about the control of reproduction. It goes much further into absolute domination of women and codification of that gender as a lessor citizen. Women are bound into slavery to make babies for the politically strong in subversion of the proletariat. Atwood saw this as possible, and she wrote about a bleak future.

I suspect very few women would want to have Ted Cruz’s baby, but are we that far from the possibility of women being used to reverse the illogical conspiracy of replacement theory? Think about this, you anti-abortionist idiots. If you are so afraid of people of color becoming a greater percentage of America, then why would you ban abortion? This action will only give America more people, and guess what? Statistics show it will be a more-brown population. Joke’s on you!

REPUBLICAN GROOMERS

Teaching how to lie and cheat to win

Even if I told every person living in the grip of the MAGA cult that politicians lie to them because they think they are dumb, they wouldn’t get it. It’s like that rhetorical line from the old Buffalo Springfield song, “Paranoia strikes deep, it comes when you’re always afraid.” It’s fear that drives the MAGA fold to believe every word of ex-President Donald Trump. It’s a maniacal game of tail chasing without reward. Trump lied some 50,000 times while he was president and that doesn’t disqualify him to run again? Why?

Laws are in place to protect us from fraud, but some running for office simply ignore them. Consider this, “All multifarious means which human ingenuity can devise, and which are resorted to by one individual to get an advantage over another by false suggestions or suppression of the truth. It includes all surprises, tricks, cunning or dissembling, and any unfair way which another is cheated.” That’s from the Journal of Accountancy’s website. When an elected official engages in fraud, no one ever takes them to court or asks a police officer to arrest them. Running for office and getting people to vote for you is a sacred concept of democracy, but some nefarious scumbags create false campaign narratives which their opponents can counter with only three words, “That’s not true.”

It forces a zero-sum game, where the other guy tries to find something negative to say about the liar, even if it’s another lie. And there you have the cycle of deception which leads to voter distrust and disillusionment. Most of those people who are creating the false narrative that teachers are trying to groom kids to be gay or trans are exploiting the very class of citizens they claim to be protecting.

Red states are busy racking up laws against teaching Critical Race Theory (C.R.T.), but most who voted to ban teaching the concept have no idea what it is. By passing a law against teaching anything about race merely demonstrates the truth of C.R.T. It’s simple, Critical Race Theory is a belief that white America will pass laws and adopt customs, traditions and rules to keep people of color from living the same free life as them. So, gerrymandering districts to give white politicians an advantage over those of color, and laws making it harder for people of color and disadvantaged people to vote, are profound examples of C.R.T.

Fraud, deception and lies are okay for politicians if they win. If they lose, voters didn’t buy into their con. When a politician in Indiana tells people that being raped is a gift of God and the fetus conceived during that crime must be protected even if the victim would suffer greatly, they are deploying C.R.T. They deny that letting states adopt restrictive rules or bans on abortion will keep the people of color behind white people, but that’s just another lie.

What’s most irritating about these liars and grifters is they never explain why their ideas would be good for most Americans. It’s like when you challenged your parents about something they ordered you to do, and their answer was “Because I said so.” Well, I don’t need Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis to tell me how to think, what to believe or how to feel. Their values are completely lopsided. Florida’s DeSantis jumped into a fight with the state’s largest employer, who also helped fund his campaign, but he was being more vindictive than smart. Why would the state want to take on a billion dollars in debt by taking over all the land and services from the Disney Corporation? That’s fucking goofy.

Some Republicans were recorded talking about the 25th Amendment and asking Trump to resign days after the insurrection but now they’re lining up to say they will vote for him in 2024. Really? Have you no shame? They care about only one thing, staying in power. They should have convicted Trump of impeachment and voted him off the island so he could never run again. That would have freed them to do their dirty deeds without the burden of anointment from their King. MAGA is a cult, and the only way to deprogram the group is for its leader to be eliminated.

Moscow Mitch

Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell are grooming future Trumps to take over and keep the party in power. On most days, Ted Cruz is totally full of shit, Graham is such an angry little queen it’s hard to take him seriously and Mitch McConnell is a walking, talking bowl of deception. He thinks he’s a statesman when he is no more honest than a Kentucky used car salesperson turning back odometers to rip off customers. I cannot wait until they all leave the government, but leave it to whom?

Do we really want Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz telling us how to live, what to believe, or who to hate? When John McCain died, America lost a Republican who was first an American. Most of the big mouths in Congress today are in the game only for themselves. They vote like a pack of wolves with the more powerful getting to eat first.

Here’s the real question. Are we grooming logical and reasoning Republicans to eventually assume power or are we just patching together a consortium of unlike views and specific causes with no unifying message? Well, the religious zealots have given the party a bone, and here it is: If you want abortions to be illegal and a woman’s right to her body taken over by big government, vote Republican. If you believe a woman should have the freedom of control over her body, vote Democratic. Keep it simple, stupid.

SUPREMELY BRAVE LEAK

Why are you surprised?

Vladimir Putin has killed more than two hundred children in Ukraine. According to OurWorldData.org, Globally 3.9% of all children die before reaching the age of five, which means that an average of 15,000 children die every day. Both statistics are terrible.

Now somewhere in the moral fiber of American history, we decided and then codified into law a woman’s right to govern her body. This includes whether she wants to carry a fetus to term, birth that fetus and then take on the responsibility of raising the child. By the way, that task in not three weekends in May, it’s a lifelong charge.

This brings us to Roe vs. Wade, which was a case decided by the Supreme Court on January 22, 1973. In their ruling, the highest court in the land stated clearly that the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman’s liberty to choose an abortion without excessive government restriction. Late breaking news tells us that an embarrassing leak has exposed the seating court is ready to take away that liberty another court granted almost fifty years ago. While Chief Justice John Roberts stands between a total politicization of the court and the fair and just need for an unbiased court, he can only tell us today how pissed off he is at the release of this rough draft of a decision they plan to spring on America and “there will be a full investigation.”

In my not so humble opinion, give the leaker a raise!!! I’ll bet you a thousand dollars the person who let us know how this court seems more interested in pleasing Clarence Thomas’ wife, while they destroy women’s rights, doesn’t have a penis.

On December 21 last year, the Washington Post ran this headline, “Kavanaugh, who told Senate Roe vs. Wade was ‘settled as precedent,’ signals openness to overturning abortion decision.” That differs remarkably with what he said during his Senate confirmation hearing. There he used the term “stare decisis,” which means a precedent should not be overturned unless there is strong reason. Yes, he lied. Justices Alito and Gorsuch said the same thing, so I guess they’re all liars. Remember folks, they were all under oath when they said those things.

When Amy Vivian Coney Barrett was questioned by Senators in her confirmation hearings and was pressed as to whether her faith would take “precedent” over her view of written law, her little girl voice didn’t reveal a true answer. It would have been so much easier to see through her religious zealotism if her voice was gruff, you know, like Aunt Lydia from The Handmaid’s Tale. Her dogma smells up the place like years-old communion wine.

Clarence Thomas, the oversized church mouse, may not talk much, but if he doesn’t hold the same political and moral ground of his spouse then why is he with her? He’s never been anything but, as the right wingers say, “an angry old Black man,” who believes in his martyrdom more than America. Do you remember Justice Thomas confirmation hearing where he was accused of sexual harassment by Anita Hill? It wasn’t an “electronic lynching,” it was a televised cover-up of his true character. And sadly, Joe Biden was there, and said nothing. Time to do something Joe.

Remember, Justice Neil Gorsuch is the guy who pronounced corporations have the same rights as people, and that Hobby Lobby didn’t have to pay for complete healthcare coverage for their employees. Neil is a pro-life, opinionated faux intellectual who really believes women are lowly humans and should obey what men say. To prove this otherwise would be quite a trick.

Justice Alito

That brings us to Samuel Alito, who is one of six Catholics on the Supreme Court, and he’s going to try to buy his pathway to heaven with the declaration that an egg is life, and a sperm is life, and a fetus is life, therefore this decision of Roe vs. Wade must be struck down. Remarkably, he says the ruling has done nothing but divide this nation. Oh really? Wait until you repeal the law, Sam. Look at the results of surveys and research. Alito has made the question of abortion political and religious. He is willing to ignore the Constitution to please the church, the pope and maybe even God. Did I offend you? Well taking away women’s rights offends me.

I never thought “packing the court” was a reasonable idea, but if Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito won’t or can’t be forced to retire, then start packin’ Joe. Everyone else in America seems to be packing. Term limits, or perhaps a set retirement date could help, but wouldn’t fix how the radical right has taken over the appointments, nominations and behavior of the court. I’m ashamed that we don’t make nominees answer questions during hearings that would clearly disclose their positions. It’s like they take the Fifth on the truth.

The people must rise up and take their country back. OMG, here I go sounding like a January 6th Insurrectionist, but please, it’s not fair or right that a group of nine people get to decide whether a woman can make a private decision or follow the advice of her doctor. And I haven’t even mentioned a pregnancy resulting from RAPE or INCEST!

How could any sitting court of the land decide that a woman who was attacked, raped and terrorized by a man must bring that offspring to term and then raise them for a lifetime? People today are worried about the feelings of little Johnny-white-kid learning about slavery, when their actions are codifying rape and forced parental sex. REALLY?

The Gift of Rape?

While in Indiana, a Senate candidate named Richard Mourdock said that pregnancies resulting from rape were “something that God intended to happen.” Well, he may be named Richard, but his comments truly make him a dick. His belief that God wanted a girl to get raped to receive His “gift” in the form of an unwanted baby should terrify every female voter in the state. Seriously, this man speaks for God? More importantly, there are dozens of male and female Representatives and Senators who hold the same belief, they just haven’t said it out loud.

The end result of all this skullduggery is fewer people will have respect for a Supreme Court, which has already been packed by Bitch McConnell with people whose number one priority was overturning Roe vs. Wade because they personally don’t like it. Alito says it was “decided incorrectly.” Okay, so what guarantees the decisions of this body will be “correct?” Will they come back next year and say that the 19th Amendment was wrongly decided? That’s the one that gives women the right to vote.

I am sure glad I am not Chief Justice John Roberts. If this one decision, one of the most important in last century, is overturned on the whim and personal moral prerogatives of a few conservatives who were specifically placed there to overturn Roe vs. Wade, then they are not only rewriting history but making the United States of America less free. They are spitting on the Constitution. Isn’t that against the law?

NEW BOOK IS OUT:

This is the story of Sonny Joe McPherson, who grew up dreaming of hot mics, breaking records and putting together a broadcasting career to propel himself into the big time — or at least out of Dayton, Ohio. His journey offers fifty years of adventure mixed with conflict, success, opportunity and some loss. This unfiltered critique is one man’s story but pulls the curtain back on an industry constantly changing, for better or worse. True Radio Confessions: Sex, Drugs & Rock ‘n Roll is, in a sense, an historical fiction, but most of what the Sonny Joe experiences, really happened.
