Every American must take a side
I didn’t vote for Ronald Reagan, but I was with him and backed his efforts to get the hostages out of Iran. It was the American thing to do. I hated Richard Nixon, but I agreed with his departure from Vietnam regardless of how ugly it was. When President Biden ordered the end of our Afghanistan occupation, I knew it was the right thing to do in the long run, even with an understanding the evil Taliban would take over.
Now we have Putin, a wannabe Hitler, with all the power of Dr. Evil and a full nuclear arsenal, you know, true “weapons of mass destruction.” Vladimir has decided to take Ukraine because of a wild notion that Ukraine has always been part of Russia. Ukraine was a place, a county and a people long before there was a Moscow, but Putin doesn’t care. This has less to do with history and more to do with what Putin wants written about him in the future.
Putin wants a war. He wants to prove that he’s the worst mo’fo’ in the world. Napoleon would be proud of this little man’s desire to appear big on the world stage, but with his bad knees and pigeon-toed walk he’s just another man who will die one day. Before he departs, however, he wants to make his country bigger by taking land and controlling people. He’s bored and falling into his own dogma of power and deceit. Just last week Putin said he would not invade Ukraine. Well, guess what? He lied.
We are seeing Hitler Version 2.0, and if the world doesn’t wake up this is going to be bad for human beings, bad for the world economy and particularly bad for the United States of America. So, when Donald Trump, a soiled man with a lack of moral judgement, talks about the brilliance of Vladimir Putin with his launch of World War III, Dwight Eisenhower, Harry Truman and Franklin Delano Roosevelt were turning in their graves, not wanting to watch a former President disgrace himself in front of the world.
But this isn’t going to help Trump, because now every Congressional Republican will have to choose to be either pro-American or anti-American. Any American siding with Putin is unpatriotic. It’s not about the “world order,” as these dictators state in their speeches, it’s about strong nations beating up smaller nations and somehow being convinced they cannot be held accountable. Hell, maybe Putin will next take Alaska back. I’m not kidding, Putin’s declaration that Ukraine was not really a country and was “historically” part of Russia could also be said about Alaska, with its rich minerals and fossils fuels they should be careful.
Alaska was Russian property until 1867 when the US purchased the land. So, honestly, what’s to stop Putin’s Navy from sailing across the Bering Strait to take our turf? At the risk of sounding like the US generals who sent our army into Vietnam to stop the spread of communism, I believe if Putin is not stopped, he will advance on every nation he can easily overtake to retool the world back to the way it existed when the USSR was a true power. We must stop him now.
First, we should throw Russia out of the United Nations. They do not deserve a vote because they don’t follow the rules and don’t use their vote to promote world peace and order, but simply to block Western ideas and ideals. Why should they be allowed to ignore the will of the body, break the rules and do whatever they want? If the United Nations doesn’t stop this unprovoked and unwarranted attack on another country, what comes next?

Next, NATO should immediately call a vote and accept Ukraine into the alliance with the full force of Article 51 which states, “The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defense.” Should Ukraine join NATO, all the nations in that organization must declare unity against Russia and its attempted overthrow of a sovereign nation.
And next, domestically, every sponsor of Fox News should pull their advertising until the owners of that channel declare their position on the subject of Russia invading Ukraine. Without their open acceptance of American values, why are they allowed to promote Russian aggression to millions of the citizens of this country? They take money from sponsors who are being hurt by this attack on a democracy. LOOK AT THE STOCK MARKET! Remember, when things get back, the first thing taken of the budget is advertising.
Finally, as much as Joe Biden doesn’t want to be the guy to do it, he must send troops into Ukraine, either through our NATO agreements, UN responsiveness or desire to protect the weapons and aid already in place there. The human life that will be lost if the world stands by and watches would be immoral.
Putin is almost seventy years old, and the Viagra of war must be turning him on. He wants to be seen as a tall, respected tyrant, but he’s just another Stalin, just another Hitler and just another Saddam Hussein with a bigger army. I hope we can unite against this malevolent man. I fear if we don’t, Russia and China will take over the world while we sit and wonder about Trump’s place in the next election. China will take over Taiwan causing another disruption of freedom and eradicate a reasonable democracy. Look what they did in Hong Kong.
As far as Donald Trump is concerned, he can go fuck himself and work on his little social media catastrophe. To my way of thinking, you are either pro-America and anti-Putin or you are a lousy scum sucking loser. Stronger viewpoints to come later.
