WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU?

Horrendous 2020 Hindsight: Painful Pandemic Truth

Like many Americans, I woke up to news coverage about last night’s CNN documentary with interviews of the pandemic doctors. The hundreds of thousands of citizens whose deaths from Covid-19 could have been avoided are owed national and political accountability, but the polarization of America that exacerbated the pandemic threatens to deprive them of their due.

Dr. Deborah Birx gave us a haunting admission that the death toll would have been substantially reduced if not for the negligent management of the pandemic by former President Donald Trump. His willingness to put economic and political goals above science and the public’s wellbeing added to the death toll.

I am sure Debra Birx is a nice person. She certainly has a wealth of knowledge on healthcare, medicine and viruses, but I’m not ready to name the wing of a hospital after her or erect a scarved statue in her honor. Pardon me, but I need to get some things off my chest here so I can move on from Monday morning quarterbacking.

First, let’s review this famous Donald Trump monologue, “I see disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute, and is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that. So, you’re going to have to use medical doctors, but it sounds interesting to me. So, we’ll see. But the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute, that’s pretty powerful.” The President continued, “And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning? So, it’d be interesting to check that [out]. Then he pointed to his head and delivered the disclaimer, of sorts, “I’m not a doctor. But I’m, like, a person that has a good you-know-what.”

While this “riff,” which is how Trump translator Jason Miller described it, was underway, we saw Dr. Debra Birx sitting uncomfortably a few feet off to the side of Trump, looking as if she were holding in a large, gaseous explosion and saying nothing. Not one word. She could have jumped to her feet, walked to the microphone and warned people not to drink bleach or try to put a light down their throats, but she didn’t.

There are some who attempt to justify her inaction by saying, “Hey, if she would have done that, she would have been fired and things could have gotten worse.” Well, they did get worse. Trump hired a quack named Dr. Scott Atlas who convinced our feckless leader that things with the virus weren’t all that bad and herd immunity would just take the problem away. Atlas is more a murderer than a doctor and his license should be revoked. Atlas never explained to Trump that trying herd immunity before we had a vaccine would be a death sentence to hundreds of thousands of people with underlying health conditions, and that is exactly what happened. It wasn’t until Atlas received condemnation from the medical community that he “clarified” his position on herd immunity.

Why Was This Man Talking?

Dr. Fauci, Dr. Birx and anyone with half a brain knew that Atlas was a destructive force on the Coronavirus Task Force, but no one had the guts to rebuke the President. The CNN program dramatically solidified the truth. Our country was seriously harmed by Trump’s actions and inactions, particularly his silencing of Dr. Fauci and pushing him away from the public messaging. Trump’s disjointed “riff” revealed he didn’t have a clue what he was talking about, but no one countered or silenced him.

It was never a joke, it was never just a “little flu” and it certainly would not “go away one day, like a miracle.” How could anyone continue to support this madman’s claims about anything? The “miracle” for America is that Trump finally went away.

Dr. Birx, people are weak and easily intimidated. I get that. When Trump turned against you, it wasn’t by a termination memo on a Friday afternoon and a security escort to your car in the parking lot. Be thankful that delirious Donald didn’t take to Twitter, saying you were “persona non grata,” and all the Trumpers, who have no idea what the term even means, would start the berating and death threats. If your role in life is to help people medically and do no harm, your silence on Trump’s outrageous statements demonstrate that you are not worthy of praise and perhaps your position.

This from CNN, “And while critics may fault her for not speaking out when she was in government, her comments come across as an attempt to precipitate a reckoning that can provide lessons on how the US can perform more effectively in a future pandemic. ‘In the post-mortem, we have to come out of this and learn how to do it better, the next time,’ Birx said.” Great, yeah, so that’s the big lesson? REALLY?

I’ll try to be fair right now as I slam into my keyboard the two large lessons I’ve learned. 1. Either do your job and speak up to power or get the hell out of the way and, 2. Stop this self-reputation saving tour and just go away. Harsh, yes, but I don’t even want to hear her name. When I do, I see this.

The Moment of Truth

I know now she was deeply torn and frustrated at that moment, but she could have called a press conference a few hours later to announce she was resigning because she believed the President was making things worse. She could have stated clearly that Donald Trump has no credibility giving advice on a global pandemic or any other medical matter. She could have gone out with a bang and perhaps saved some lives. Sorry, but death is not a fixable problem.

I guess it’s time to push this into the folder that also contains, “We knew the Japanese would attack, we just didn’t know where.” And this gem, “Had we only coordinated between the CIA and FBI we could have prevented 9-11.” Or this frightening truth, “We knew Lee Harvey Oswald was in Dallas, we just lost track of him.” I am not making any of that up.

We knew it was bad, Trump knew it was bad and admitted same to Bob Woodward. We heard him say it on a recoding, but too many people went along with his “Hydroxychloroquine” miracle cure bullshit when every major person involved in the science knew it was not a cure and would do little to help anyone. When I see that ten-foot flag on the pickup truck in Florida screaming FUCK BIDEN, I know that’s something Birx would never have said about Trump, but she should have. There’s one big lesson in all of this. The next time you have a global pandemic, make sure the person in charge isn’t an idiot.

THEATER OF WAR & POLITICS

The Modus Operandi of the Mindless Robot

The games being played by Congress are getting more tired and worn. The gamesmanship is so obvious, and their approval rating continues to plunge. The use of the word “theater” or if you are in a blue state “theatre,” has been used dozens of times within the last week, a week that brought the violent deaths of eighteen people by an automatic weapon in the hands of a crazy person. Republicans use the term “theater” to describe the Democrats’ position on mask wearing and gun control. Why do the Republicans push back on ideas to keep us safer?

We’ve all heard the term theater of war, but where does it come from? In his book On War, Carl von Clausewitz defines the term Kriegstheater, which is old Latin for theatrum belli. Mr. von Clausewitz writes, “If the enemy’s forces are collected in one army upon one theatre of war, they constitute in reality a unity, and we need not inquire further; if they are upon one theatre of war, but in separate armies, which belong to different Powers, there is no longer absolute unity; there is, however, a sufficient interdependence.” And just like a theatrical stage play, there is always a protagonist and antagonist.

Theater of Guns & Politics

When Judiciary Committee Member Senator Ted Cruz complained about the Democrats bringing forth a discussion on gun control as the same “theater” they engage in after each mass shooting, he was the pot calling the kettle black. If the other side in the play is the protagonist, then Cruz must be the antagonist, meaning that he is solidly against gun control and believes there is nothing that can be done to solve the problem of mass shootings. In fact, he directly said gun control cannot stop mass shootings. So, there is the hill where he wishes to die.

Should more weaponry be a part of the next insurrection, perhaps that hill will be the fate of some representatives and senators. It’s been well established that people in Congress get millions of dollars from the National Rifle Association (NRA), and they are proud of the ratings they get from that lobbyist. Their votes against gun control have been purchased by Wayne LaPierre, an allegedly corrupt, self-serving administrator of the NRA slush fund.

In short, members give money to the NRA and Wayne spends the money however he likes. According to BradyUnited.org, Ted Cruz took only $176,274, but the list of recipients is a who’s who in the Republican force against gun control. Just take a look. Mitt Romney grabbed $13,647,676, Richard Burr (NC) snagged $6,987,380, Roy Blunt (MO) received $4,555,722, Thom Tillis (NC) netted $4,421,333, Cory Gardner (CO) snagged $3,939,199, Marco Rubio (FL) pocketed $3,303,355 and the list goes on.

If this is theater, then it’s a lavish production funded by the NRA, and gun control will never become a reality unless the money gets cut off. Gun acquisition loopholes are continually exploited and any local initiatives to curb America’s vast appetite for fire power is always shot down by state governments and federal courts. In 2018, the city of Boulder, Colorado passed a ban on the sale and possession of assault weapons and large capacity magazines, but earlier this month, a state district court judge blocked the city from enforcing its ban. Just six days before an angry man entered a supermarket in Boulder and killed ten people, he bought an automatic weapon, but wait, that doesn’t matter.

The reason it doesn’t matter is because the alleged shooter is not from Boulder, he lives in a suburb of Denver some twenty miles away. Without a federal mandated ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, we will never succeed in this theater of war. Without a weapons turn-in program, we will never get the millions of assault weapons off the street. And here is another tidbit of truth for you, militant African Americans also do not want the government to take away their high-powered weapons. Wow, the radical members of Black Lives Matter and the white supremacist militias agree with Ted Cruz.

After a mass shooting and inaction by leaders, Black rapper Killer Mike tweeted this, “I told my kids on the school walkout, I love you, if you walkout that school, walkout my house…we are not a family that jumps on every single thing an ally of ours does because some stuff we just don’t agree with.” In other words, as long as the enemies of the African American community have guns, he wants people of color to be able to defend themselves.

Gun and ammunition sales skyrocketed when Obama was elected President. Paranoid conspiracy theorists believed that the first Black president would take away all their guns. Their opinion was illogical, but they fear any action to control the sale and use of firearms. The NRA has always been against a national registry of guns, and the organization has instituted so few safety policies and programs they have abandoned their original cause of rifle and gun safety.

Charlotte, North Carolina

Republicans like Josh Hawley, who took $1,391,548 from the NRA, suggest that Democrats are performing a theatrical routine to make people believe they care about gun safety, when many of them own guns and would never turn their backs on the Second Amendment. While that might be true, I have a suggestion.

Would it make sense to rewrite the Second Amendment and update it for today’s modern America? The words in the present text are, “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” but is that applicable to life in 2021?

First, what is this “militia” in the Second Amendment? Back then, the US was up against the well-trained and equipped army of the British government. The early American leaders didn’t want and couldn’t afford a full-time army, so the president would sometimes call on state leaders to form a local fighting team, a militia, to take on the latest uprising from either native populations or British funded Canadian troops who wanted to grab some land. Because only Congress had the power to declare and fund a war it was easier and faster for the “Commander in Chief” to make the locals do the work, and thanks to the Second Amendment, weapons were always available. The Second Amendment also says, “well regulated,” and I contend that President Donald John Trump had the power to call off the Capitol Hill insurrection just by saying STOP. If he had done so, and the rioters didn’t stop, they would be traitors and seditionists who could have been shot by the United States Army.

I believe this is the part of the Second Amendment that needs to be changed, “…the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” It should say, “the licensed right of people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” There are many precedents. I need a license to drive, hunt, fish, sell real estate, use software, use a trademark, use a song, practice law, sell alcohol, fly a plane, practice medicine, import goods, export goods, build a house, run a pub, breed dogs, get married, operate a forklift and practice medicine, just to name a few. So, why not require a gun owner’s license that must be renewed at reasonable intervals? The states could write the End Users License Agreement, but the registration would be national.

So, pipe dream or good idea?

THE GREAT AMERICAN LIAR

Trump Believes Only in Himself

After watching Donald John Trump in office for his first 200 days, I was convinced he was unworthy of the presidency. I felt so strongly that I wrote the book, Donald Trump: Repeal, Replace, Impeach, which was one of the first books to state, in no uncertain words, that Trump should be impeached. Why? My premise was simple. Trump never tells the truth and doesn’t deserve to be president.

My book’s conclusion presented arguments against the Donald and the conflicts he created. Remember, this was early in his administration:

Pitting his political base against the majority of America

Enabling hate and bigotry instead of inclusiveness and progress

Pushing fear and a bullying method rather than fair, mature leadership

Employing hyperbole and lies without truth and facts

Promoting domestic supremacy over global leadership

Demolishing rules for business at the expense of the environment

            Allowing fraud

Defunding education so that we can overspend on military

Grabbing excessive executive power and creating a Constitutional crisis

            Being unpredictable rather than consistent

I expect my outdated book will eventually become nothing more than a door stop, but I do stand by everything I wrote. Each point happened and has been amplified over time. But why should we care about Donald Trump? He lost the election. He’s become a one-term president who was impeached and is now about to be repealed and replaced.

When the neo-Nazis and white supremacists barked out the trope, “Jews will not replace us” in Charlottesville, Virginia, Trump showed his deplorable lack of leadership by saying there were “good people on both sides.” It was not much of an admonishment of anti-Semitism but a fine example of using the wrong words at the wrong thing. That’s exactly what Donald Trump has done, over and over again.

NBC News just published a piece entitled, “Trump versus the truth: The most outrageous falsehoods of his presidency.” As they point out, the stage was set early on when the Donald made Sean Spicer (remember him?) argue with the press about the “size of his inauguration crowd.” There was a damn picture comparing Trump’s crowd to Obama’s crowd. The former was indisputably smaller. We could easily see it. I guess size is somehow important to this loser president.

The article quotes historian Michael Beschloss, “I have never seen a president in American history who has lied so continuously and so outrageously as Donald Trump, period.” It sounds a bit like what Sean Spicer said, “This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period!” It’s as if saying the word “period,” when the sentence already has a period, makes it more, well, credible.

Is this what he wants?

Donald Trump is close to being evicted from his current residence. It’s almost sad that he genuinely believes he won the election and deserves to have four more years in office. He’s desperately failed at his primary job, the one he swore under oath he would do. We all heard him say, “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” His blatant and constant lies have slashed a hole in the Constitution, which he has failed to protect and defend. He’s mostly ignored its words, doing whatever he damn well wanted to do with a lie attached to every move.

I’ll focus on one item from my list of Trump’s weaknesses as a president — promoting domestic supremacy over global leadership. On the surface it can be seen as idealism wrapped in flowery language, but the nugget inside reveals how the seed of cancer has been growing within this president from day one. Donald Trump has no capacity for altruism, selflessness or concern for the well-being of others. He views himself as the center of the universe and has convinced himself that he is America. I realize that sounds outrageous but think about it. In his small brain if it isn’t good for Donald Trump then it isn’t good for America. Why didn’t he emphatically rail against Nazis in America? Was he doing the best he could to support people who think like him?

Many events over the past four years underscore the Donald’s ultimate maxim, “You are either with ME, or you are against ME.” Let’s be clear, The “me” is the man’s ego, or clinically speaking his id, the personality component of unconscious psychic energy that works to satisfy fundamental urges, needs, and desires. Donald Trump doesn’t care about how things really are, his only concern is about the way he wants them to be. He has tranced millions of people from the need to critically think, creating a diabolical regression of thought. If you believe in the man, you believe all his lies.

Desperate man on the phone

Over the weekend, Trump was on a call with the Secretary of State of Georgia for more than an hour, trying to get him to find votes for him. The call was recorded and released by the Georgia officials, so that the world could hear the overconfidence of this criminal we have in the White House. More will be made of this, but for now, every concern I’ve had for four years has been exposed as warranted.

He doesn’t care about the flag wavers and gun packing fools who pledge their allegiance to him. He needs only to be adored and masturbated by the masses, like a common store-bought dictator. When things don’t go his way, first he first pouts and then rage-tweets into the night like a spoiled seven-year-old boy. The weak people around him either placate him, or worse, mouth his lies to the point they believe them as truth. I believe that’s called brainwashing.

Trump has said he has no regrets in his life and has nothing to apologize for, even to God. Okay, that’s rather contemptable. As NBC News pointed out, “Trump’s run for the presidency was fueled by political prominence gained by promoting the racist ‘birther’ lie about President Barack Obama, and his 2016 victory was secured by a campaign rooted in false claims about immigrants and inner-city crime.” Just like Trump’s full-page newspaper ad urging the death penalty for the Central Park Five, he has no problem stating innocent people should be executed based solely on his opinion rather than the truth. When his good buddies in Saudi Arabia murdered Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi he looked the other way, justifying his attitude and lack of action by a huge arms deal with the Saudi Crown Prince. I wonder how God would classify such behavior.

On March 10, 2020, Trump commented on his administration’s handling of the COVID-19 crisis by saying, “We’re doing a great job with it. And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.” At that time, the US had just over a thousand known infections and thirty deaths. Trump’s words were a lie.  From thirty deaths to more than 351,000, Donald John Trump has been spewing falsehoods every day he’s been in office. Now he wants you to believe his biggest lie of all, that he won the 2020 election. This man has been poisonous for America and we all need a vaccination against the disease he carries – lack of empathy. We will all be better without him, period.

MESSAGE FOR THE ORANGE PUMPKIN

Don, go away, you’re no good for me (or anyone)

Last night I powered down my cell phone because the constant barrage of breaking news alerts was driving me crazy. I needed to lock our asshole president out of my mind and life for a bit. Now this may seem like a non sequitur, but I get depressed when I go to the grocery store and see people not wearing masks. It saddens me to think my fellow citizens don’t care about life, but then I realize they don’t know any better because the large man in charge says masks are unnecessary. At times I wonder if I might be taking it all too seriously. For years I have been writing about how Donald Trump is bad for America, but every time another of his acts exposes himself for the authentic jerk he is, I get angry all over again. For example, take his latest onslaught of pardons. Trump would absolve Hitler if Adolf said nice things about him.

I wish I could form a mental blockade to impose a Trump blackout, but that’s not going to happen. He’s so needy for publicity and attention he will always find a way to make news and noise. It’s just not likely that he will ever melt away like snow in Florida. I wake up refreshed, fetch my local paper, read the letters to the editor and get set off all over again.

Let me share this one, Lest we forget, here is a reminder of some of the accomplishments of the Trump administration during Donald Trump’s four years in office.” Okay, I must take a deep breath here and prepare to handle each of these allegations.

The writer, whose name I will keep anonymous, says that Trump kept us out of wars. Well, the act of getting into a war is serious and should be done only if we need to defend our country or help our allies. The so-called success of war avoidance is a terribly low bar for any president. Yes, we didn’t have a war under the Donald but he facilitated global conflict by selling arms and equipment to warring nations. He pulled out of Syria, which was nothing short of abandoning our allies, the Kurds. Obama didn’t get the US into any wars, but he was chastised for leaving Iraq too early and creating ISIS. So, what will probably happen as the result of Trump’s withdrawal of troops from troubled, unsettled conflicts? More war! GRADE: D

Next, there’s the claim that Trump oversaw the Abraham Accords, normalizing relations between Israel and two Arab states, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. The term “oversaw” is a long stretch. Yes, Israel is trying to play nice in the Middle East but, from the beginning, the goal of the Trump Administration was bringing peace to the region. How will establishing normal diplomatic relations with just a couple of Arab nations bring the Palestinians to the table? GRADE: C+

The writer boasts about Trump’s insistence that NATO countries pay their fair shares of the costs for their own protection. Okay, that’s fair, but realize this is not nations giving money to NATO but rather increasing spending on their military assets and agents. Should any nation demand that the US increase or decrease our military budget we would be repulsed and offended but, okay, time for more guns and bombs. GRADE: B

Our esteemed letter writer continues with a group of deeds and triumphs that can be placed under one heading, Immigration. The letter says Trump got Mexico to keep asylum seekers in their country until their US hearings come up, to strengthen its US border and to work with Central American countries to slow the exodus of their citizens. I guess this would be a reasonable achievement for those who subscribe to the anti-immigrant, xenophobic viewpoints of this administration, but let’s not forget that Trump also separated children from their parents at the border. His Attorney General said that abhorrent policy would deter others wanting to seek asylum. This is less a win and more a sinful, immoral myopia. We must never forget that we are a country of immigrants! GRADE: F

Now, here’s a claim that profoundly pisses me off. The writer alleges that the Clean Power Plan, which Trump repealed, would have increased our electricity bills and he adds that our energy needs were kept affordable by Trump’s abandonment of the Paris Climate Agreement. This is total bullshit. The extreme weather events and catastrophes caused by climate change will cost us more money. In fact, deploying solar energy in a sunshine climate like Florida would lower energy costs significantly. Someone drank all the Kool-Aid, kids. GRADE: F

Our unnamed letter writer concludes his missive with compliments about how Trump confronted China over the theft of American intellectual property and unfair trade practices, how he imposed sanctions on Russia and closed some of our consulates there and how he kept our oil prices low, which hurt the Russian economy.

Okay, I’ll take these things in order, or should I say odor, because they fail the smell test. The first point is rather funny. All the people at “state” and “justice” said Russia was behind the hacking of government servers, but Trump insisted it was China. So, the “confrontation” Trump and his sycophants lowered on China’s head did nothing to stop Russia and China stealing from us.

As for Russians and oil, Trump has bragged about the USA being energy independent due to our large supplies of oil and natural gas. So, how did sanctions against Russia help our gas prices, which are set by OPEC and Trump’s friends in Saudi Arabia? The truth is Trump has gone easy on Russia and used China and Xi as props during his overly long rally speeches. We have not become stronger in foreign policy under Trump. China’s economy grew despite COVID and North Korea has a nuclear bomb. GRADE: F

The final contention of our reader/writer is Trump helped speed the record-breaking development of COVID-19 vaccines. He says, “As bombastic and irritating as Trump is, a lot was accomplished during his tenure.” REALLY? This comment is totally disqualified and no GRADE is low enough. The claim of Trump speeding vaccine development would be like me taking credit for the Pittsburgh Pirates beating the New York Yankees in the 1960 World Series. After all, I watched the game on TV.

With more than 323,000 people dead from this wretched virus, a total failure in medical supply chain management, no national policy to defend the US from the pandemic and the administration’s ongoing disregard of expert recommendations for virus mitigation, these past four years have seen America at her worst. The things Trump has said on TV and in his tweets have made matters worse, not better. Because of his lack of action and unconvincing language, Donald John Trump has killed Americans. The man doesn’t deserve to be praised; he should be indicted for malfeasance and put in jail. Maybe someone will pardon him.

All of us want COVID to go away. While that would be great, some of us just can’t wait until the Donald goes away because he’s been bad for America. Perhaps he merits a participation trophy, but don’t try to sell me on any grand accomplishments. My 401K lost a ton of money, I can’t see my grandkids this Christmas, and he’s going to be playing golf. I hate him. Merry Freaking Christmas, Mr. Soon-to-be Ex-President!

INVEST IN AMERICA NOW

Our Congress Needs to Act

Like many Americans, I was more than livid reading the New York Times article that said Donald Trump paid only $750 in income taxes the past two years. He has boldly claimed that “no one knows the system better than me,” but cheating America out of what he should’ve paid is just not right.

When Trump and his frothing Republican sycophants pushed through a tax bill for rich people and large businesses, the con was all of them would bring back the money they had hid away in offshore banks. Okay, but there’s more.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA) was the biggest reform of the US Tax Code in more than thirty years. It lowered income tax rates, especially for higher-income Americans, and it reduced the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%. Several tax credits and deductions also changed. The standard deduction was nearly doubled, from $6,350 in 2017 to $12,000 in 2018, and the child tax credit was doubled, from $1,000 in 2017 to $2,000 in 2018, but some itemized deductions were limited or eliminated. For example, the TCJA abolished deductions on mortgages, and that allowed a brutal steal from folks who also have to pay a state income tax.

National Public Radio said it best, “It was supposed to be a gift-wrapped present to taxpayers and the economy. But in hindsight, it looks more like a costly lump of coal. Passed on a party-line vote, the tax cut is the signature legislative accomplishment of President Trump’s first term. He had campaigned hard for the measure, promising it would boost paychecks for working people. In fact, more than 60% of the tax savings went to people in the top 20% of the income ladder, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center. The measure also slashed the corporate tax rate by 40%.”

America has millions of citizens out of work and in need of help. Since last Spring, the Congress has been debating how to disburse treasury funds to help people, and it’s been a ridiculous waste of time. Donald Trump hindered the effort because he is far too busy to get involved or, stating the same reality with a snarky dose of honesty, he just doesn’t know what he’s doing.

However, that is no excuse when people are suffering. Now that a $900 billion relief bill is on the table, some Republicans have shed their phony Trump skin and decided that they want to know how we are going to pay for it. WTF? We can pay for it two ways and we all need to take our medicine and get it done so we can get well.

First, the TCJA should be eradicated. Now before you start to worry about the economy, maybe you should consider how much cash those large corporations received from the first round of PPP. Screw them if they can’t step up right now and help save the American worker from bankruptcy, poverty and, oh yeah, STARVATION.

I see people on TV whining about the perilous situations of small businesses and restaurants, and that is all worthy, but how about giving them some money so they can feed America right now? What about helping people get through this winter without having their heat turned off? Step up corporate America! You spent two years riding the gravy train but it’s time for you to get involved in a solution.

Then there’s our military budget. It’s not just the US, the entire earth is infected with the coronavirus. The President of France has now tested positive for COVID. The countries of the world need medical aid, not bombs. Trump has already started to pull troops from just about everywhere, so surely the arms budget can be diverted to fight the pandemic. Also, let’s GET SMART and stop wasting money on a fucking wall. No one wants to come to this country with the highest death toll on the planet.

Donald John Trump is the lamest duck in the world right now and he’s busy slogging his spreadsheet of people he can bilk for pardons.  He won’t help us. Congress needs to step in and allocate proper pandemic relief money, bring back jobs and kill this COVID evil demon. Stop thinking about political sides and become one side, the American side.

Trump’s delusion about winning the election and a future of controlling the Republican party from his beach castle in Florida is all bullshit. Why would any party want to give control to A FUCKING LOSER? Trump is the reason you lost the White House, and you won’t get it back with pipe dreams of overthrowing the election. Remember that the military is on Joe Biden’s side, you know, the guy who will be their Commander-In-Chief in a matter of days. Should there be a fat, orange squatter in the People’s House after the inauguration, he will be swiftly and unceremoniously removed.

If the Donald cheated on his taxes, or engaged in insurance and tax fraud, he should be charged and tried for the crime. By the way, if Hunter Biden is also found guilty of tax evasion he too should be dealt with properly. Wouldn’t it be the ultimate brain explosion if the Donald and Hunter were assigned the same jail cell? But never mind that. What’s important right now is helping American citizens. We can sort out the who goes to jail thing later. My only hope is that we will have more justice than the aftermath of the banking collapse in 2008.

Leader McConnell

Should they not invest in America right now, the US Government will be immoral, irresponsible and reprehensible. If Mitch McConnell cannot move effective legislation through Congress, he should be removed from his leadership position, the easiest path being Georgia electing two Democratic Senators on January 5th. Regardless, both the House and the Senate need to start focusing on people, not corporations and certainly not that large, useless, makeup-riddled blabbering blowhard in the Oval Office. Republicans, he stole your party! Why don’t you grow a brain and begin to pinch it back?

SCIENCE IS BACK, BABY!

Trump’s Lasting Contributions

Back in my schoolboy days, when I was not daydreaming in class, I did learn a few things, such as Isaac Newton’s third law: “To every Action there is always an equal Reaction: or the mutual actions of two bodies upon each other are always equal and directed to contrary parts.” I should hate Mr. Newton for inventing calculus and formulating the theory of universal gravity. One gave me bad math grades and the other forces me to avoid exercise.

Donald John Trump, soon to be a one-term President, has done a lot of bad things during his term in office. He did have a few good ideas, but those were cursed by his bombastic and distorted messaging. He stepped on his own accomplishments and drove people in the media and his opposing party to propagate contrary opinions and strong arguments against him. That’s on him.

Many Americans and people of other nations believe that Trump and his administration are anti-science. The White House downsized and deemphasized global pandemic experts, and their lack of emergency planning sent a clear message about the administration’s disrespect. When Trump pulled out of the Paris Accord, he told us many times that he doubted the reality of climate change. He went so far as to theorize that China invented the movement to hurt the US economy.

Greta Thunberg

When a young Swedish environmental activist named Greta Thunberg complained about Trump’s dismal view on science, he replied with this tweet, “She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!” but he then followed that gracious comment with this, “So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old-fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!” Trump never addressed her science concerns or the fact that some of the world’s smartest people have warned us all that things will get worse.

Trump’s primary leadership failures were his outrageously dismissive comments, advice and hands-off approach during a global pandemic. His lies are stacked up next to the dead bodies caused by his malfeasance. It wasn’t 15 people on that day he told us it would soon be down to one, then zero. It was a lie when he said the coronavirus was no worse than the flu, and he doubled down on another lie by saying the pandemic was a hoax created by the Democrats to hurt him.

During a long and unhelpful press briefing on Sunday March 29. 2020, Trump claimed that he and his administration could say, “We all together have done a very good job if the number [of deaths] is limited to 100,000 – 200,000.” The prediction that 100,000 people would die was bluntly presented and devoid of any emotion or empathy. With Trump, the main message of everything he said was all about how it affected him and “his” people.

Donald Trump’s disastrous delusions share the common points of being anti-science and anti-global. Instead of rolling up his sleeves and tackling the problem like a real president, he expelled his energy by blaming China for the virus. In the middle of the COVID crisis, Trump wheeled out a doctor with no background in infectious diseases who urged Americans to swallow the ridiculous “herd immunity” theory. It was yet another colossal mistake that killed more people. This president told all of us we should wear a mask, and then didn’t do so himself. He also pitted American against American and encouraged fringe militia groups to protest shutdowns and mitigation efforts in many cities.

A phrase often heard during these times is “follow the science.” Here in Florida, a scientist was fired for refusing to fudge virus figures to help the governor open the state much earlier than he should have. Meanwhile, Trump’s little army of sycophants charged into the Michigan capital building with guns. It’s clear that Trump has problems with science, facts and things humans cannot control. A virus isn’t a Democrat, it’s a demonic parasite out to kill us. More and more people want to know about the “science” of things because of Donald Trump. It’s a force pushing back in the opposite direction, and the main reason Trump will be gone on January 20, 2021. He didn’t show up for science class and got a big, fat F.

The Trump Show

Now he wants credit for the vaccine. Okay, Fat Boy, you did it! You contracted the virus and you survived because of our friend medical science. Without the exotic and experimental treatments you received, it’s likely you would have died. When the Donald told us how much he loves clean water and pure air, we saw right through his transparent lie. It was just another Trump con to smooth the way for his EPA to open lands for destructive mining and development.

NIMBy means “not in my backyard.” It represents a person who objects to something perceived as unpleasant or hazardous in the area where they live, especially while raising no such objections to similar developments elsewhere. As long as the virus stayed in China, Trump didn’t care, but when it came here, he wasted no time starting the blame game. We don’t care about the water being polluted in Pennsylvania by fracking unless we happen to live next door, but when the cheaper water in Flint, Michigan hurt children, we awakened. Trump’s constant thundering against globalism has warped the minds of many Americans, yet they rush to Walmart to buy another something made in China.

Globalism and science are here to stay. Trumpism has taught us that the man was wrong about mostly everything. Remember when he said no one loses a trade war? That was another lie. Ask the soybean farmers who were foreclosed and put out of business.  As for judging the success on Donald Trump against COVID, well his “effort” was a total fucking failure.

More kids will look at science differently now. I often said that my kids experienced great financial comfort in our family, but it’s their memories of some really bad times that will drive them for the rest of their days. They know they must save their money, work hard and always have a Plan B. Joe Biden is now America’s Plan B, and we all need to work hard to help him succeed with everything he faces.

I predict more kids will get into science and care more about the environment because of the opposing forces of Greta and Trump. Our kids will remember wearing masks and wondering why they had to. The first step in learning is asking “why.” Why so many fires? Why so many floods? Why so many deaths? Perhaps chemistry and calculous will be exciting to those kids who will become our future doctors and scientists. I guess we can thank Donald Trump for his ignorance. If being dumb means dying, the motivation to learn must be greater.

WINDS, FIRES & RAINS

The Trump Legacy

As we near the end of America’s insanity, I am reminded of the lyrics in the Grateful Dead song Truckin’ — “Sometimes the light’s all shinin’ on me, Other times, I can barely see. Lately, it occurs to me, What a long, strange trip it’s been!

I started this blog as a reaction to Donald Trump’s presidency. I would have totally ignored the buffoon had he stayed in New York producing reality TV or pushing his name on the gossip pages. I didn’t care one whit about him. Once he became president, I felt a deep-seated fear that he would be bad for America. Man was I ever right!

I wrote a book after Trump’s first 200 days in office that took an extraordinarily strong stance against him. When I published Donald Trump: Repeal, Replace, Impeach, it didn’t sell well despite the book’s main premise becoming true. I take no credit for the Donald’s impeachment, but I have written more than one million words pointing out his flaws, foibles, fallacious falsehoods and devious deceptions. The last four years have been a long, strange trip indeed, and the tragedy train is finally pulling into the station, but many trumpers will refuse to disembark.

I predict that we will see Trump flags and stickers for years, like the “Ron Paul for President” bumper stickers of years ago which lasted forever. People will continue to hold onto the “rigged election” fantasy Trump keeps peddling. He has even said the CIA and FBI are in on it! Really? This president believes that when he puts down someone, they automatically fall under his spell, his power. Not everyone buckles when American laws and traditions are involved.

The death threats to those Secretaries of State who oversaw the elections in tight races are totally on Trump. His harsh, far-right “cancel culture” bullying of those civil servants who were simply doing their jobs is demonic and dangerous. Have you noticed Attorney General William Barr hasn’t been seen these recent days? First, he’s the lamest duck on the pond. Second, were he to get involved in this bogus election fraud conspiracy theory he would be pummeled with questions. “What evidence do you have about election fraud, Billy Boy? Do you have any leads? Who has been arrested? Who has been charged?” Barr may be corrupt, but he’s not stupid. There’s no reason Barr would put himself in legal jeopardy. He’s leaving soon.

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you know that Donald John Trump, as both a person and president, is extremely negative. He rains on all things that can be exploited or that are out of his control. Everything is “worse,“ and every person who stands in his way is a “loser.” He attacks such people regardless of their words or claims.

The Donald’s use of the term “fire” is a double entendre with monumental consequences. He yells and screams behind closed doors and flips out when he’s asked any question that challenges him or hurts his fragile feelings. Christopher Krebs, the director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, said the 2020 US election was the most secure in history. He rejected Trump’s claims that the vote was marred by foreign interference as “farcical.” What happened? Trump immediately fired the guy. When you don’t fall into line with support of his crazy conspiracy theories you are dead to Donald Trump. Nice guy.

THEN THIS HAPPENED MONDAY AFTERNOON: Trump campaign lawyer Joseph diGenova said “That guy [Krebs] is a class-A moron! He should be drawn and quartered. Taken out at dawn and shot.” Where is the Bar Association? This man must be disbarred, ASAP. What a disgrace to the legal profession.

Krebs appeared on 60 Minutes and told the truth, again. Trump’s Twitter reaction was typical, “@60Minutes never asked us for a comment about their ridiculous, one sided story on election security, which is an international joke. Our 2020 Election, from poorly rated Dominion to a Country FLOODED with unaccounted for Mail-In ballots, was probably our least secure EVER!” Twitter responded with a lame disclaimer about election information. Great.

If I were the law firm representing Dominion, the US-Canadian company that produces voting systems, I would be writing one whopper of a lawsuit to be delivered to Donald Trump when he’s no longer the president. Donnie, how could you even believe that 60 Minutes would call you? They know you are a pathological liar.

Trump’s Sunday morning interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News was a cesspool of misinformation. He said, “This election was a fraud; it was a rigged election!” Bartiromo then created a feedback loop by saying, “This is disgusting, and we cannot allow America’s election to be corrupted.” Thanks Maria, your personal comment would have been okay had you only produced facts to back up your statement. How could anyone possibly believe she’s a worthy caretaker of our democracy?

Trump is a blathering blowhard, believing that his wind will blast aside any dissent to his obnoxious opinions and flawed fantasies. When he uses the phrase “… everybody knows it” as a qualifier of truth, it’s as faulty as the theory that only the popular girls at school are smart. They produce rumors to benefit themselves without regard to the pain and prejudice they encourage. Oh, the winter wind is coming. It will make the inauguration as cold as the pitiful pouting of our grand orange sufferer of a narcissistic personality disorder. This president will never get over his deep pain of being a loser.

It will be an UNAMERICAN slap in the face if Trump holds some bogus event at the same time Joe Biden is sworn in at the Capitol. And should he announce a 2024 run for the presidency, he’s an idiot. Such a move would allow his Super PAC to suck even more money from his clueless minions. Let the sycophants be warned.

Be wary; the winter winds, fires and rains are approaching. The flags will flap in the winds while the fires rage. Eventually, the rains will smother the fires, but the smoldering ashes left behind will have to be tended to with investigations and truths. We must learn everything that Trump dumped on our country. How much money did he steal? In the course of time we’ll find out, until then now is the time to begin fixing our wounded democracy!

STOP MAKING THINGS UP

Trump’s Insidious Truth-Bending

The President of the United States is claiming that foreign nations or domestic bad actors broke into our election systems to change the vote counts against him. Now you might think I am exaggerating this, but here’s a Twitter quote from the man himself: “REPORT: DOMINION DELETED 2.7 MILLION TRUMP VOTES NATIONWIDE. DATA ANALYSIS FINDS 221,000 PENNSYLVANIA VOTES SWITCHED FROM PRESIDENT TRUMP TO BIDEN. 941,000 TRUMP VOTES DELETED. STATES USING DOMINION VOTING SYSTEMS SWITCHED 435,000 VOTES FROM TRUMP TO BIDEN.” Let me add some clarity to his words. Dominion Voting Systems is a corporation that makes and sells electronic voting hardware and software. Dominion is a Canadian company with US Headquarters in Denver. They have strongly and convincingly refuted Trump’s claims.

Internet messaging protocol suggests a person posting in all caps is SCREAMING! So, our crazy, current president is screeching his claims of fraud. His tweet inspired action in the intelligence community and they quickly responded with a news release. The group, including the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Association of State Election Directors, issued what appears to be a definitive coda to the 2020 vote.

“There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised. All of the states with close results in the 2020 presidential race have paper records of each vote, allowing the ability to go back and count each ballot if necessary. This is an added benefit for security and resilience. This process allows for the identification and correction of any mistakes or errors.” Do you know what? I’m going to believe these guys and not the President.

Biggest Crowd, PERIOD!

We are 69 days away from removing this narcissist from the White House. Most believe he will never concede to Biden or admit that he lost. As he has done over the last four years, Donald Trump seems to take joy in making things up, even if they embarrass our country or mislead our allies. Everyone in the world knows this man cannot be trusted, and many of them are lining up to phone Uncle Joe and congratulate him. They know it’s over; why doesn’t Trump?

This just in: the Pennsylvania law firm to bring the suit against the state wanting them not to count any mail-in ballots that arrived late but postmarked before or on Election Day, withdrew from the case. In the motion filed at 11:53 p.m. on Thursday, Porter Wright lawyers Ronald Hicks and Carolyn McGee — who work out of the firm’s Pittsburgh office — said the campaign was “in the process of retaining and causing other counsel” to take over the case. The attorneys said they and the campaign had agreed on the withdrawal, but Hicks and McGee were vague about the reason for their exit. I guess one cannot just make things up in court?

It’s shameful that the US State Department is not forwarding messages they receive addressed to President-Elect Joe Biden. It reminds me of a romantic breakup in high school, where two immature ex-lovers take inappropriate steps when ending their relationship. Yes, Donnie, it’s hard to take but can’t you suck it up? Everyone in the world thinks you’re a cry baby, even the Republicans.

Not letting GSA Administrator Emily W. Murphy execute the transition paperwork to facilitate activities, budgeting, office space and, most importantly, daily national security briefs for Biden is a childish, high school maneuver that will be challenged today by several high-ranking Republicans. The President is more focused on firing people he doesn’t like before Christmas, than fighting the virus or facing the fact that he lost the election! Get over it, Donald!

Truth-bending is just as harmful as lies, and some of his supporters say it’s just Donald’s “cute way.” The truth is, Trump’s main method of operation is always based on made up stuff because he won’t take any time to understand the truth. I’m sure you have known people who grab onto a belief early in life and then make it a focus. A well-respected businessman once told me to never trust a man who smokes a pipe. Okay, lots of smart and worthy men smoked pipes but this guy locked onto that one incorrect belief.

Bad Face Day

I have this thing about Trump’s makeup. A few men in my past wore makeup. One professor I studied under wore a light covering on his face. I always thought he was covering up his closeted homosexuality. I worked in theater and was around a great deal of makeup in those days, but that had a purpose of entertainment. Why is Donald John Trump orange?  Seriously, why? When he holds his hands up near his face you can see the vast difference in hue between his mug and fingers.

The lawsuits and the scam of raising money to help him save America from this “rigged election” precisely align with his usual ways of dealing with life challenges. He never looks in the mirror, takes off his makeup and calls it a day. He is driven to call people late at night to bolster his frail and damaged ego. What is most disturbing is the way his rhetoric and deceit have been adopted by other people in high places. When Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick was confronted with the findings of the Heritage Foundation that no widespread voter fraud was uncovered in America, he bluntly blurted, “They are wrong.” That’s it, Dan? That’s all you have? Where’s your evidence or proof? Remember, the Heritage Foundation is a conservative think-tank that picked all of Trump’s Supreme Court nominations. Just saying something is NOT TRUE doesn’t make it so. It makes the person speaking the words look stupid.

Without facts and evidence, no one should believe anything Trump says. I cannot believe I am saying this about a US President, but it’s true. Trump lies about almost everything. Those times he uses an unrelated fact to “prove” an untruthful statement are nothing more than lies. It’s similar to the way some believe that that saying, “All Lives Matter” defeats the slogan Black Lives Matter, which they fear means “White Lives Don’t Matter.” A bad cop, regardless of race, is a bad cop. I don’t have to add that “not all cops are bad” to soften the danger or reality of bad cops.

The best thing now would be some adult forcing Trump into normal order so our long-standing traditions can move us toward a peaceful transition. I don’t need to see Joe and Don sitting in the Oval Office, awkwardly and uncomfortably posing with each other. I don’t need to see Donnie and Melania standing behind the Chief Justice swearing in Joe Biden in as the 46th President of the United States. Those things would be nice, but realist-me understands they are not likely.

Nothing about Trump is nice. We wish him well, but good riddance! “Don’t let the door hit you where you sit.” Oh, and see you in court, Donald!

LUNATIC LOSER FROTHING AGAIN

Trump Takes a Dump on Democracy

I went into the 2020 election with the belief that it would be remarkably close. Because of the pandemic, I wasn’t sure people would be supportive of cult leader Donald John Trump. The man himself offered this truism, “It’s politics and you never know.” Yes, but what concerns me most is Trump is not a good loser and he will do tremendously awful things if reelected. He never had, and never will have, a mandate to rule. He’s a high polarity personality who pisses off as many people as he pleases.

It didn’t surprise me when, in the middle of the night with more than nine states yet to be decided, President Trump attacked the legitimate vote counting process and suggested any attempt to further tally ballots amounted to disenfranchising his supporters. How can this asshole say that? Well, it’s because he cares only about himself. Trump is a bad actor who should never have been allowed to walk onto the stage.

President Liar

The Donald said, “Millions and millions of people voted for us. There is a very sad group of people is trying to disenfranchise that group of people.” What the fuck is he talking about? Millions of people voted for the other guy, too. Are they just chopped liver?

Despite Trump’s misleading statements, falsehoods and lies it’s easy to see that his true motive is an ASSAULT ON OUR DEMOCRACY He actually stood there and insisted that states where vote counts currently show him leading should be frozen in his favor, PERIOD. No need to count them all; just make me the king. What a dolt!

He then extended his grievances and martyr-syndrome with this, “We were getting ready for a big celebration. We were winning everything. And all of a sudden it was just called off.” His endless gripe about fraud is nauseating. Who is he trying to fool?

Of course, he said he would go to the US Supreme Court and stated that he wants “all voting to stop.” The voting has stopped, you fucking idiot. It’s the counting that goes on. If neither candidate gets to 270, the House of Representatives will pick the president, and the Senate will select a vice president. Yes, we could have a president and vice president from different parties. Used to be that way.

After watching TV all night I don’t have the energy to write more today, but let me assure you that I will fight for a legal outcome of this election with all my strength. Please, let this end so we can focus our attention on getting rid of the virus.

OLD JOE & THE JERK

Pure American Political Graffiti

Most Americans have an aversion to the political season. Every four years it disrupts our lives, goes on far too long and the bombardment of TV spots, direct mail and information overload makes it seem like a giant circus has come to town. Of course, the political process also produces a lot of horse and elephant shit that no one cleans up. I am glad the debates are over, and we are coming to the end of this insanity.

There was no winner at last night’s debate. The Democrats are saying Biden won while Trump followers say their man really landed some punches. All that aside, what we clearly saw last night were the differences between old Joe Biden and the jerk we’ve come to hate, Donald John Trump. Like any two characters in a movie, both are flawed. One is harmlessly competent, while the other is dangerous to our democracy.

Trump is always on defense when it comes to race, racism and racist rhetoric. We heard Joe Biden distance himself from bad decisions of the past. He knows and admits he was wrong in his handling of Anita Hill during the Clarence Thomas’ confirmation hearing. Biden was a major force in the passing of the 1994 crime bill, and he’s played straight regarding its impact on African American men. In the past Joe has said, “There’s another part of my long record that’s being grossly misrepresented: the 1994 crime bill.” Last night, however, he was noticeably direct when saying it was a mistake. That has meaning in a historical context. When looking back at the impact of Ronald Reagan’s policies and executive orders on people of color, you would think Reagan was working for the Klan.

Perhaps Donald Trump’s most unbelievable line during the debate was his repeated statement of, “I am the least racist person in this whole room.” It’s a declaration not only impossible to prove, but nonsensical to any thinking individual. It reminds me of the disingenuous lie often said by a person accused of being a racist, “I am not a racist; some of my best friends are Black.” I have no doubt that Trump is a racist. Here’s an excerpt of a TIME magazine article, “In interviews over the years, Trump has credited his genes for everything from his health to his success, and he’s noted that his children and grandchildren will benefit from them as well.” Once you go down this path, you fall into the trap of what was once known as eugenics, a misguided medical movement of the early 1900s.

This extremely flawed theory was based on the work of British scientist Francis Galton, who concluded that superior intelligence and abilities were inherited. He coined the term “eugenics,” meaning “well born.” Galton theorized that humanity could be improved by encouraging the fittest members of society to have more children. If this sounds a bit like Nazi thinking, you would be right. Trump’s father Fred also believed this to be true, and he taught his kids that they were better than any Black person. My source is the excellent book written by Mary L. Trump, Donald’s niece. You should read it.

Joe Biden is not a racist. He’s just an old man who has experienced the pain of personal loss throughout much of his life. As a political operative, he had an ability to move things forward by bringing both sides together on many issues. I doubt that many of the idiots currently in Congress can be moved off their hidden racist agendas, partisan political dogmas and sick use of power, but, hey, let’s give old Joe a try. What we have now is clearly not working.

Donald Trump is a limited human being, at best. He’s like the game show host who has been parroting the intro line and explanation of how “we play the game” rap which has grown tired, cold and perfunctory over the years. Donald’s endless, repetitive babble leads to the same conclusion; he really doesn’t know what the hell he is doing. He used the debate insult that Obama and Biden built the cages, but no one swings the retaliatory bat with “But, Mr. President, you put the kids in them.” Trump brags about his record on immigration and claims the kids who were separated from their mothers and fathers are being treated very well. REALLY?

Biden landed a good debate punch with this, “I have not taken a penny from any foreign source ever in my life. I have released 22 years of tax returns. You have not released a single year. What are you hiding?” Yes, good question, what is Trump hiding? Few voters care about Hunter Biden. He’s just another offspring, cashing in, like Trump’s kids who aren’t talented, smart or exceptional; they are just Trumps.

Even with new debate rules in place, the Donald interrupted and tried to throw old Joe Biden off the trail, but we aren’t voting for a debate winner. We need a political resolver and uniter. Can Biden unite us? Will Biden unite us? Probably not, but Trump had his damn chance and failed miserably. So much for the myth that we needed a “really good businessman” to run the government. If that was the goal, we should have elected Mitt Romney, who is a great and wealthy entrepreneur. Trump has never been a good businessperson, as the whole world will learn when his tax returns eventually become known.

BusinessInsider.com had this to say about the virus policies of our government, “Upwards of 130,000 coronavirus deaths were ‘avoidable’ if President Donald Trump and his administration had acted sooner and implemented widespread public health precautions, according to a new Columbia University report released on Wednesday (10-21-2020).” The Columbia research is probably correct. Trump cannot defend his conduct related to this pandemic.

Trump stated that the virus is not his fault, and he graciously informed us it’s also not Joe Biden’s fault. Trump blames China and cannot understand why they didn’t stop its spread. His statement about COVID-19 containment proves the Donald has no idea what he’s talking about. If China failed to keep it from “getting out” of their country, then the Trump administration did a morally indefensible, hideous, blatantly incompetent job of controlling its spread across this land. Biden kept reminding us how bad the crisis is, while Trump made fun of Joe in his basement. Comic criticism of Joe Biden’s self-quarantine and mask wearing plays to the hard core Trumpers who deny climate change and the danger of this deadly virus, but most people think Biden should wear a mask. He’s an old guy.

Few of us have ever attained a no-cut, four-year, $400,000 contract to run anything, let alone the United States. Now think about this. Some say Uncle Joe is too old, but let’s not forget Trump promised to hire “expert people” to surround and help him. Remember that line, “Only the best people!” Well, he hired all the wrong people. More than 80 folks have left his administration and, oh yeah, some of them are in jail. One almost put a gun into his mouth to get away from Trump.

The real difference between Trump and Biden is simple. Biden will truly hire the best people. We need Joe only to get us through the next four years, repair Trump’s damage and truly make America great again. Make no mistake, that is exactly what he will do. There’s no reason to debate it.
