IT WAS ONE YEAR AGO

They are going to make him look very bad

Tonight, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, will address the nation on this historic moment in time. On March 11, 2020, we first faced the bleak reality that the novel coronavirus would be unavoidable for months to come, perhaps longer, and that action was needed prevent a thing named COVID-19 from taking our country down.

For nearly two months before that day, health and government officials had been sounding an alarm about the virus as it infected and killed thousands of people around the world. We knew it had moved from China to Italy, and then it struck America with Seattle having the first death.

Ex-President Donald Trump repeatedly downplayed the severity of the threat, telling people, “It will go away, just stay calm.” I could pepper this post with dozens of absurd statements and farfetched opinions the 45th President would go on to disseminate through Twitter, TV and the White House press room, but that isn’t necessary. Tonight, we’ll hear the new President’s speech and I am sure he will outline some of the fallacies and failures of the past year.

I have been writing a daily report on the pandemic and sending it to my friends and family for about 300 days. I started that project because I wanted them to know the extent of the coronavirus, but also to keep me up to date with statistics around the country. It has been a sobering task of love. On March 11, 2020, we had 372 cases of COVID-19 and only 12 deaths, but the experts knew it would get worse, much worse.

The next day, Thursday, March 12, the National Basketball League announced that game play would be suspended “until further notice.” The NBA took that action faced with concerns and uncertainties about the impact of the coronavirus on its games, its business and its extended family of players, coaches and fans. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver grasped the severity of this new pandemic before most. He also instituted what became known as a “bubble” in Orlando to finish the season and playoffs with extraordinarily little infection. The National Hockey League did the same. Smart thinking!

After downplaying the threat of the virus for days, President Trump made an Oval Office announcement on March 13, 2020, saying he would sharply restrict travel from Europe, but he never stopped it. He declared that the US would cut travel from 26 European nations, except the United Kingdom. The month-long restriction didn’t apply to US citizens and their families nor to green card holders. Trump said the US would monitor the situation and hinted that the restrictions might be lifted earlier. Earlier than what? We don’t know. Regardless, hundreds of thousands of people flew into the US without any tests for the virus. It was an honest mistake, but a mistake nonetheless. Over the next six months, the United Kingdom had a fast and dense spread of COVID-19. Just because people spoke English, didn’t make them immune to the virus.

When you watch coronavirus anniversary documentaries and news specials this week, prepare yourself for some extremely critical remarks about how our country handled the pandemic. It’s no secret that most of those assessments will land squarely on Donald Trump’s shoulders.

We can now better understand why Bob Woodward released the audio from his phone call with Trump where he admitted to knowing the seriousness of COVID. Woodward was doing what he could to save America from a reckless, unaware and incompetent leader. It worked. Step back from all the rhetoric, lies and stupid theories to see that Trump lost to Joe Biden by seven million votes because he thoroughly mishandled the pandemic. It wasn’t a fraudulent election, it was deceitful management of public safety that did him in. I’ll use the legal term “negligent” because that it was.

Etched into my brain is one of Donald Trump’s more idiotic statements, “If we keep the death toll under 100,000, we will have done an excellent job.” Excuse me, Mr. Trump, but there is no way that huge number of fatalities can be called “excellent.” I wonder how our loser-leader would characterize the more than 528,000 deaths today. The 2020 election can be seen as Trump asking for a mulligan regarding his handling of the pandemic. America soundly rejected him.

I can’t understand why the Republican Party wants anything to do with Donald Trump. He’s a loser. Reportedly, the former President sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Republican National Committee demanding they, his own party, stop using his image and name in their fundraising efforts. I thought he was going to lead the party. Politico reported that, “The Republican National Committee dismissed a cease-and-desist demand from former President Trump’s attorneys Monday…”  Their attorney went on to say, “The RNC has every right to refer to public figures as it engages in core, First Amendment-protected political speech, and it will continue to do so in pursuit of these common goals.”

Oh boy, someone is using this as a teachable moment about the First Amendment for Donald Trump. It’s so rich and ironic! Trump can’t stop anyone from using his likeness. He relinquished that right when he became the president. There is no way he could prove that the RNC’s use of his picture could cause him any more harm than what he has already inflicted upon himself.

The news networks love sticking it to Trump. After five years of being called the “enemy of the people,” the free press has every right to extract their pound of flesh, wait, make that fifty pounds of fatso-flesh; there’s plenty to go around. Sadly, there’s no compensation for the more than 500,000 families who lost a loved one.

Trump could heal the nation right now by admitting that he lost the election and that it wasn’t rigged. He could sell that fact that there was no widespread fraud, and that Joe Biden is the rightful president. He could urge people to wear a mask until they get the shot and urge his followers to get vaccinated, just like he and his wife secretly did. He won’t do any of that because he doesn’t give a shit about America. Speaking of which, Donald John Trump’s value as a human being is basically that of a dried-up elephant turd. Should I think of something harsher, I’ll share.

THE COUP THAT COLLAPSED

Trump Stoked an Insurrection Based on Lies

Everything that Donald Trump has said and done shows he is one pure-ass fake. Some might call what I am about to state here treason, but I will speak my mind without fear of intimidation or party affiliation, unlike those spinless Republican Senators who will not convict the former President of crimes against America.

In a different time and age, Mr. Trump would have been brought into magistrate court, charged with treason and shot on the public green the next morning. I’m not saying we should do this today, but he should know that had he lived in France during the two decades after that country’s revolution, he would have been beheaded. Sedition, treason and insurrection were not crimes one could argue away in court.

Most of America has now seen the freshly released images of the Capitol Hill riot on January 6. If Donald Trump is not to blame, then who is responsible for those crazy people who stormed the Capitol? Is it Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, 4Chan, 8Chan or maybe Charlie Chan? Could it have started with Carlos Danger and Anthony Weiner’s dick pics, or has it simply “been brewing for some time now” as I hear endlessly from the puckered pieholes of pundits and prognosticators reading the grievance tea leaves in Russian restaurants? They are all full of shit, just like Trump and his ludicrous lawyers.

Attorney Castor

I say they are stupid. Why? Trump lawyer Bruce Castor actually offered these words in the halls of Congress during the impeachment trial, “We are so understanding of the concept that people’s minds can be overpowered with emotion, where logic does not immediately kick in, that we have recognized examples that otherwise would be hearsay and said that, no, when you’re driving down the street, and you look over at your wife, and you say, ‘Hey, you know what, that guy is about to drive through the red light and kill that person,’ your wife can testify to what you said, because, even though it’s technically hearsay, it’s an exception, because it’s the event living through the person.”

Okay, let me wipe some of this horse shit off my shoes before I launch into my own personal rant. What the fuck does any of that mean? I can only assume that he’s trying to plant a seed that the bad things you will hear about are being were told by people who don’t know what they are talking about, so just ignore them. YES, that must be it! Trump’s personal lawyers are saying that there is nothing to see here and we should ignore hearsay even when it comes out of the ex-president’s mouth.

If a person lies to their attorney, and their lawyer then presents that lie as a defense in a court of law, that doesn’t make it any less of a lie. His attorneys are going try to sell the Senators and the American public a premise that Trump was merely using his First Amendment rights while talking to a group of really good people and he bears no responsibility for what they later did on Capitol Hill. Okay, let’s examine that. There are only two conclusions one could draw from that scenario. One, Donald John Trump is such a bad communicator that no one understood what he was saying or, two, the group assembled that day was so stupid they misinterpreted him.

Trump’s more than 11,000-word speech, complete with audience reaction, is right here, Donald Trump JAN 6 2021 Speech should you wish to read it. Without a shadow of doubt, his words were an incitement to insurrection. His detailed, final pitch to sell the big lie about election fraud also featured a compendium of grievances of those who have so mistreated him. Poor baby. In his final act, the martyr stood before his adoring crowd saying it’s time to take back your country, be strong and fight like hell. And let’s not forget that there is nothing good about hell.

Trump used the words “fight” or “fighting” 27 times, but only used the word “peaceful” once. It came near the end of his 75-minute speech, “We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” So, there is the “out” that his lawyers will argue for 16 hours at trial. Really? That’s it? The other 11,000 words don’t matter?

To delegitimize the rightfully elected 46th President of the United States, Donald pulled this one out of his index box of hate and lies, “I just spoke to Mike [Pence]. I said, Mike, that doesn’t take courage. What takes courage is to do nothing. That takes courage, and then we’re stuck with a president who lost the election by a lot, and we have to live with that for four more years.” Yes, Mr. Trump, that is how elections work. You should remember; you won one.

Mike and Karen Pence Rushed Away from Danger

Trump’s berating of his Vice President and confrontation with his inability or desire to break the law could have cost Mike Pence his life, along with those of his daughter and wife. Not only did Trump stir up the mob’s viciousness, he also directed their ire to Mr. Pence. But it didn’t end with his spoken word, Trump made it worse by tweeting to the insurrectionists at 2:24 PM, “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution.” So, the Donald turned up the heat on Pence as the mob was in the Capitol building screaming, “Hang Mike Pence.” Loyalty?

What if the pack had captured and murdered Mike Pence? Would the Republican Senators then be more likely to convict this loser of a president and disqualify him from ever holding Federal office again? That’s a tough question, but it gives me no certainty they would convict. Their vote is always for sale and Donald Trump bought it with lies, fear and intimidation. No man or woman should have that much power.

Donald Trump’s attempted coup failed, just like most of what he tried to do as president. Hundreds of thousands of people died from COVID because of his lack of comprehension, terrible messaging and misguided policies. And five people died because of the insurrection. He should be tried in criminal court, with testimonies of those who were in the room with him as he watched the riot on TV. How did he act then? What did he say? Donald John Trump intended to upturn the results of a valid election, and we must do everything we can to make sure such a thing never happens again. Ten years in jail for the perpetrator just might be a good deterrent for future presidents.

THE GREAT CONUNDRUM

Clearing Trump’s Debris Field

I was living in Washington, D.C. when Jimmy Carter was elected president. Right after his win, I began seeing many Georgia license plates on the cars around town. It was an amazing, visual representation of the changing of the guard in the nation’s capital.

I am so curious about what will take place at the White House on January 20, 2021. Traditionally, the outgoing president and first lady host the president-elect and their spouse before going to the Capital together for the swearing in ceremony. The attendees usually include the vice president, members of Congress, Supreme Court justices, high-ranking military officers, former presidents, living Medal of Honor recipients, and other dignitaries. Only five former outgoing presidents have chosen not to attend the ceremony, and that list will likely grow by one this year. I can’t imagine Donald John Trump allowing himself to be seen in such a defeatist setting.

JFK, 1960

Trump would much rather have the title “former president” rather than “loser” or “one term president.” Still clutching the myth that he won the election, I have a feeling he will hold a rally during the inauguration, just to pee in the punch bowl. He’s never shown respect for America, democracy or our Constitution, and I’ll go out on a limb by saying he has no respect for the Holy Bible on which he laid his hand four years ago. However, maybe I should temper myself and allow a person without sin to throw the first stone.

Trump’s debris field is extensive. Here are some big picture items. First, let’s consider executive orders and the implications of each. To date, Trump has signed 203 orders. The new administration will have to review each one to determine if it can be unplugged by a new executive order, and how that might affect process and policy. Big job.

Next, we need to unravel the disastrous environmental changes and terminate agreements that upheaved areas such as the US-Mexico border. We must halt the destruction of federal lands and reverse the ridiculous Trump policies that disregarded climate change initiatives and increased pollution. There is nothing more important than our environment.

The wealth inequalities in our country have been skewed by Trump’s non-middle class tax cuts that gave more money to the upper 20% and cheated the lower 80% out of a better life. The deficit the Donald created with his foolish gift to corporate America must be reworked to get more tax dollars into the Treasury to pay for the COVID disaster. Yes, I’ll say it again. The pandemic’s damaging impact would have been must less if only the Trump administration had effectively managed it.

Unlike many others, I am not jacked up on the theory that more conservative judges means less democracy. Our judges looked directly through the eyes of justice when deciding the more than sixty lawsuits brought by Donald Trump in his feeble attempt to overturn the election that Joe Biden fairly won. Now they might overreach in the future on healthcare or pro-choice issues, but basic law precepts require a plaintiff to prove their case using facts, not fantasies. Yes, a new president will appoint judges of their choice, but the net effect will be a stronger judicial.

The biggest job Joe Biden and his team will face is using words and acts to restore confidence in our basic institutions. We must believe in the FBI, ATF and Homeland Security so that we don’t have to fear those miscreants who want to bomb and shoot us. We need to believe in the CDC, WHO and the National Institute of Health and rely on their medical guidance.

It’s time to end this hyper transactional attitude that has dragged down America these past four years. Productive and progressive life cannot be based on an endless “quid-pro-quo stream” in which decisions are based on the personal gain of the president rather that appropriate action for the masses. We need to stop the Trump minions from outrageous and idiotic acts such as placing the entire country of Cuba on a terrorist list. Policies like that are more vindicative that logical. Trump lost a past bid for a hotel-casino in Havana, and that is the reason he pushes normalization away from Cuba.

We must educate the masses about many complex concepts and challenging conundrums. Take China, for example. Our outgoing President has blathered on about China’s trade imbalance and theft of American intellectual property, but there are much deeper and darker problems there. The Chinese government is rounding up people of certain religions and cultures and making them work in labor camps. Human rights issues such as these must be confronted, but it’s complicated. We rely on China for their production lines and products and we will suffer for years without a proper peace treaty that reconciles their governmental overreach with our needs.

The most important goal of our new government is facing the COVID crisis and overcoming institutional inertia so we can start to make progress in fighting the virus. We must get 75% of the population vaccinated and bring forth a viable healthcare system for America’s future. We were totally unprepared for a global pandemic and its fallout will linger for a decade or more. Trump spent so much time, so many words, spreading misinformation about Obamacare that people have no idea how a more robust national health plan would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives. It’s time to be smarter and sharper. An effective health system is needed to keep our workers healthy and, oh yeah, working.

I don’t care what Donald Trump will do when he leaves Washington. If he starts a cable network, I won’t be watching. If he tries to force his kids on the Republican party of Florida, good luck with that. Here’s my big closer. We need more long-term planning and less government-by-tweeting. I don’t need a daily diatribe of the top guy’s grievances; I would much rather know what challenges we face and which improvements we made today. Where are we going and how are we going to get there? Over time, the answers to these daily questions will make America great again. Donald Trump is the conundrum. Ironic and simple, isn’t it?

LOVE TRUMPS HATE

The Emotion of Trust

It’s just a slogan, but I do believe in the healing power of love. Of course, ‘’love’’ is just a word, but it has meaning. At its foundation, love is an intense feeling of deep affection, but it can also denote fondness, tenderness and devotion. In its lightest form, love produces a feeling of great interest and pleasure in someone or something.

These days, the slogan “love trumps hate” has almost become a dirty phrase for some. Once the name-word Trump appears, it’s next to impossible to not think about Donald John Trump. Maybe it’s time to cure the deep-seated prejudices, racism and elitism in America. When I reach out to the “other side” I am often greeted with talking points and pre-conceived notions about how everything was screwed up by Obama and all was fixed by Trump. Enough!

I would love to receive the fifty-thousand dollars I lost due to Trump’s mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic, but deep down inside I would settle for a return to healthy-happy times, even though I am no longer sure when or even if they existed. That aside, today I would like to explain some of the sound, logical reasons why so many people hate Donald Trump in the hope of imparting at least a small understanding to his supporters

Trump said he didn’t trust the FBI and the Justice Department. He told us the investigation into Russian interference by these agencies was a hoax. If I had spent hours and hours of my life following leads, finding perps and then bringing them to justice, only to have the President of the United States pardon them, I’d be pissed.

If I was African American, and Donald Trump kept telling me that the police are always right in using force and that cops should not be careful when pushing a suspect into a police car, why would I respect him? When the Donald says he’s done more for the Black community than any president, short of Abraham Lincoln, he demeans history and the entire African American population. Might I add that Black men voted 6.2 million for Biden and only 1.4 million for Trump? African American women voted 9.8 million for Biden and cast only 870,000 votes for Trump. Clearly, Black voters rejected Trump and his rhetoric.

Women in general rejected Trump, with one source saying 46 million women voted for Biden while only 35.3 million voted for Trump. Clearly, women believe he paid a porn-star and a Playboy Bunny (whatever that is) more than $250,000 for their silence after allegedly having affairs with them. Women don’t like men who cheat on their wives, especially right after the birth of their baby. So, there you have some key reasons why women hate Trump.

Remember Trump repeatedly saying how bad Baltimore and its representatives were? Well, when the vote was counted, Trump lost Maryland. At a campaign rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, Trump said, right out loud, that there is no way he would have come to Erie if it wasn’t because of the virus and his bad polling numbers. Guess what? Conservative, Republican Erie County voted in favor of Biden.

Don’t Mess With the Cheese Steak!

Trump said this about Philadelphia, “As you know today there was a big problem in Philadelphia, they went in to watch. They are called poll watchers. They are very safe, very nice thing. They were thrown out. They weren’t allowed to watch. You know why? Because bad things happen in Philadelphia. Bad things!” I’m a guy from Pittsburgh and I know some things about Philly that Donald Trump will never understand. One is, they never take shit from anyone. Proof? In Philadelphia county (the city) the vote was 81% for Biden and only 18% for Trump. In Montgomery county (the suburbs) the count was 62% for Biden, and 36% for Trump. Trump said bad things about their home, so why would anyone expect Philadelphians to feel warm and fuzzy about him, even in the city of Brotherly Love?

Trump was rude and uncaring about the millions of Californians who were affected by wildfires. While people were losing their homes and dying, Trump was blaming their governor for not cleaning the forest floors. Really? 80% of the lands that were burned and ruined were federal lands. It was TRUMP’S FAULT! Malign and kick a state when they’re down and the citizens will remember. In California, the vote was 64.6% for Biden and 33.3% for Trump. Californians don’t like that man.

I could go on, but you know all the names of the people on Donald’s shit list. It will be fun watching them come back to haunt him. What goes around, comes around. When a judge adjudicates a case, they consider the level of respect shown by the person standing in front of them. A respectful defendant often gets a break. When a judge spends a year on a case and convicts a man for lying to the FBI, that judge will remember and resent a White House pardon of him. Judges don’t easily erase their slates; they are human.

What are we doing? Can we move forward? Love is NOT trumping hate because those who lost the vote are doing everything they can to prevent a return to what the late, great Senator John McCain called “normal order.” Why? Are their party affiliations more important than America itself? It seems so. I don’t hate Mitch McConnell, but I have ZERO respect for him. I don’t need to hate anyone to disagree with them, but if they continually make things worse, they will get added to my shit list. I have no control over whether McConnell stays or goes because I don’t live in Kentucky. I suppose it’s not a bad place with its bluegrass fields and abundance of horses, but really, is that the best the state that gave us Mohammed Ali has to offer?

In the end, and there is always an end, love will trump hate when Trump is gone. He’s a sore loser asshole, with the emphasize on LOSER.

PLEXIGLASS BUSINESS BOOM

Trump’s Virus Makes Some Rich

I grew up hearing the phrase “American Ingenuity” and was always proud of waving the red, white and blue. We are quite the country with our innovations and advancements, including the telephone, the polio vaccine and, of course, the internet. We are smart and whenever things change or a loophole is found, we invariably move quickly to make money on a success or a tragedy.

When the stock ploy of “selling short” was first explained to me I couldn’t understand how that could possibly be legal. When I hear about the travesties of some people with reverse mortgages I wonder why such a loan even exists in our banking system. Then there’s tobacco. Even after we controlled the sales of those products, their use causes 480,000 deaths per year, which includes more than 41,000 deaths resulting from secondhand smoke exposure. So, now that a global pandemic has hit, opportunistic people are stepping up.

I recently learned that Etsy, the resale website, helped sell $346 million worth of homemade masks this year. Plexiglass has become a hot item as the need for coronavirus protection has increased. The Plaskolite company in Columbus, Ohio is working full time to fill their orders. Not only do they make plastic face shields, but the demand for plexiglass dividers for business use has increased. The commodity intelligence service, ICIS, told CNBC, “For some plexiglass manufacturers, April and March output increased by 300% compared to February,”

When I heard the news that Vice President Mike Pence was rejecting the use of plexiglass to protect him at tonight’s debate, I shook my head. Why? The Trump administration systemically fails to comprehend the damage COVID-19 can do, has done and will continue to do if they don’t start taking it seriously. I contend that Pence must run everything past the Donald to get daddy’s permission. I’m sure this latest rub-up happened because a fat, orange guy, high on steroids, screamed bloody murder. They really don’t want more protection. Does Pence also have a death wish?

It wasn’t surprising to see Katie Miller, Pence’s communication person and the wife of top presidential advisory and speech writer Stephen Miller, post a snarky tweet about how the Vice President didn’t want to have a plexiglass shield in front of his face and blamed Kamala Harris for the rule. In the true spirit of poetic justice, hours later her husband tested positive for COVID-19 and they both went into quarantine. Let’s not depend on Katie for important information. She also tweeted this recently, “I know this may be controversial, but I’m anti-umbrella — this Florida girl loves walking in the rain. And you should find yourself a spouse who ALWAYS lets you be YOURSELF.” By the way, we have tons of lightning here in Florida, so walking in the rain could be dangerous.

Stephen Miller Positive for COVID-19

At least 34 people close to Trump have contracted COVID-19 in the past few days. They believed Donald Trump knew more than the experts they first pushed to the back of the podium and then pulled completely from the press conferences. Trump paraded out his puppet, Dr. Scott Atlas, to sing the praises of how he handled the crisis and to promote the stupid concept of herd immunity. I suppose some of Atlas’s medical friends beat him up badly because he started to distance himself from his own message. Also, have you noticed that Atlas has been missing in action since the President got infected by the virus?

I would love to publish a full-page, open letter to the President in every newspaper in America with the headline, “WHY THE GAMES?” Now we have the Donald John Trump tweet that he has stopped all talks with Congress regarding more coronavirus relief until he gets reelected, after which the stock market fell 375 points. Then, late last night, our President pounded out a sixty-post tweet storm. I might remind our readers that some of the side effects of taking Dexamethasone are vision changes, swelling, rapid weight gain, sleep problems, mood changes, depression, mood swings and agitation. Should this man be allowed to tweet while he’s still high on drugs? Maybe his Twitter account should be disabled until the effects of the medication are gone.

Self-destructive behavior is common when Trump feels he’s losing. After blame was dumped on all the people Donnie wanted to hurt, he ran out of options. Then, he tried to blow everything up like a child with no moral or logical grounding. Can’t we just send him back to military school to “straighten him out?” Maybe we should send him to the time-out chair for the next four months. He’s a dangerous psychopath, suffering from chronic mental disorders. He may soon move into violent social behavior to protect himself and his tender ego. If he lived in Florida, all his guns would be taken away.

If the result of this man’s game playing leads to civil war, it will prove that he’s worse than the virus. There isn’t enough plexiglass to protect us from this jackass. When his eventual trial for insurrection and treason takes place, our law and order leaders should throw the book at this failure of a man. Half of the states are showing increases in COVID infections, almost 211,000 people have died, and their families are still grieving and dealing with the pain of loss. Yet, there’s Trump parading around and bragging about his possible immunity. What a turd.

TRUMP is a problem, but we have a possible cure coming on November the third. Register, vote and stand by! We may need to take the People’s House back by force, but I believe George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and even John Adams would think tossing the bum out is a perfect plan. I hope it doesn’t come to that. I am happy with my government despite this screwed up situation.

Oh, this just in. The Pence campaign now agrees to plexiglass — provided it’s made in the USA. USA! USA! USA!

MOMENT OF TRUTH

Trump’s Terrible Weekend of Death & Fear

I cannot imagine what my emotional state would be if one of my siblings were removed from this earth. Death is an all-powerful notion we humans respect and revere. It was sad to learn that Robert Stewart Trump died last Saturday. Robert is Donald Trump’s younger brother and he’s believed to be a direct opposite to his erratic and self-serving brother. Robert benefited greatly from the Trump fortunes and even worked for his brother, running the Casinos in Atlantic City, NJ.

Unsuccessful Casino

To put this story in perspective, know that the Donald blamed Robert for the failure of the Taj Mahal casino. Auditors claim the casino lost millions because of mismanagement. Donald Trump berated Robert in front of other employees and Robert simply walked out of the room, just like the big, orange presidential pumpkin does when confronted by the press.

Robert patched up things with Donald after his big brother started running for President, which netted Trump an endorsement from his little brother. Robert was about 6’5” while Donald stands at 6’3”. I’m sure that difference bothered the Donald. To the President’s credit, he visited his brother in the hospital the day before he died, then played golf on Saturday.

People are being critical of Trump for that leisure while his brother was living his final hours, but isn’t that consistent? Donald Trump went to a movie with his sister Elizabeth when his older brother Freddie was on his deathbed. I am disturbed by all the hate, vitriol and lashing out about Trump on social media. Hey, he’s afraid of dying and has a bizarre idea that his death will come when someone poisons him. Paranoid?

While 170,000 Americans have lost their lives to COVID-19, Trump is laser-focused on his campaign and not the health of American citizens. His new virus task force spokesman, radiologist Dr. Atlas, must be reading more tea leaves than X-rays by claiming virus fear is a product of the media. Do radiologists know anything about viruses?

I am struck by the electioneering being done by loud, angry and spiteful Trump supporters at some of the early voting locations in my county. The Biden supporters will have to walk through the mob to vote on November 3, but hopefully we will get a resolve on the post office drama this week. Trump broke the USPS, and if he doesn’t fix it I am hoping another criminal charge will be added to his permanent record in January.

What is it about Donald Trump that compels him to break things? He is like the spoiled kid losing in Monopoly and throwing everything off the board, toppling the table and yelling, “CHEATER, CHEATER!” as he runs back to mommy — a mother who had no time for him.

I have said to anyone who will listen that the best thing for this country would be Donald Trump or one of his immediate family contracting COVID. I am not saying that I want any of them to succumb, but the reality of this virus cannot be fully understood until it’s on your front porch.

Most conservatives don’t understand the normalcy of homosexuality until one of their kids comes out of the closet. A parent then has three choices, disown, embrace, or deny and only one of them is good. We cannot depend on Trump and his flunkies to make good calls during this pandemic; they just aren’t smart enough. They deny and disengage, but the facts and figures are everywhere. They cannot disown their behavior and inaction. Hey, 170,000 people are DEAD!

I just finished reading, Michael Beschloss’ book, Presidents of War and the more I learned about the men who held the office the less I liked each of them. I am amazed at how many people don’t simply say they dislike Trump. Instead they use words like, “I cannot tell you how much I hate the guy.” Wow! In a weak moment the other day Trump said, “I guess people don’t like me.” There, out loud he admitted his greatest fear, being rejected. I guess all the Democrats and anti-Trump Independents have become Trump’s dead father. Why does he need so much attention and love?

Trump is unprepared for the office of President, unqualified to deal with trade and unable to cope with science, truth, statistics and fatalities. Out of the five Fred and Mary Trump offspring, only the women survive. Yes, swipe intended. The little whiny baby in the White House has no empathy in the tank. He’s a spent little man.

The moment of truth is arriving. There will be much chaos and arguing and debate about whether Donald John Trump is worth saving. He’s not. I wonder if Maine’s Senator Susan Collins now thinks Trump has “learned his lesson” after the impeachment. He hasn’t. Can Trump deal with death? Probably he’ll post a tweet and move on, thinking, “Well, at least it wasn’t me,” and that is terribly sad.

If Trump loses the election, will he be able to concede and walk away like an honorable man would do? He’s running out of people to pardon, but who knows what his reaction will be. Will he become the only president in history to be hauled out of the White House by the D.C. Park Police, or worse, by the military? That would be so totally disgraceful. It would be the ultimate proof he cares more about himself than America.

Why do we have to deal with the Donald? Well, we made a mistake and we must fix it and move on. I am not afraid of the Trump flag wavers giving me the finger, but I am angry that even those sycophants had to endure this idiot. I took a stand in 2016, and I am not going to give it up. HE’S AN IDIOT! And as I drove by the Trump protesters, I put my bullhorn out the window and chanted, “HE’S GONG TO KILL YOU! HE’S GOING TO KILL YOU!”

BIRX, FAUCI & REDFIELD SHOULD RESIGN

Confront Trump and Save American Lives

There comes a time when things get so bad one must decide a course of action for their own survival. This can happen when a woman in an abusive marriage walks out the door to save her life and assure the future for her children. Sometimes a man stays in an equally terrible relationship and must escape before some bad disaster takes place, such as a murder. Here in America we now face a life or death situation and it’s time for someone to do the right thing.

The President of the United States is saying all the wrong things, pushing lies and distractions and waging a sinister plan that fuels the COVID-19 flames. He’s killing people! Who can step up and make a difference with him? Someone who attended the first Coronavirus Task Force meeting in months leaked a terrible account of the President’s temperament on the pandemic. According to CNN, “As some members of the task force tried to stress the dire nature of the situation to the President, Trump repeatedly attempted to change the subject. He started talking about something else.” There is no reason why anyone would make this up. Was it done to make the Donald change his tune? Assuming what was reported is true, then are we getting closer and closer to the 25th Amendment. Let’s review that potential cure for an ignorant and dangerous President.

From the Globe Gazette

The 25th deals with succession and other issues, but this paragraph should catch your attention: “Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Mike Pence is liked by many conservatives and evangelicals, but he has a deal with the devil and is so loyal to Donald Trump that he will lie to the American public to make Trump look good. There’s an paradox in that. Pence was so outraged when former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn lied to him that he demanded Trump fire Flynn. In this administration, lying is judged more by the source of the lie rather than its content or lack of validity. So, don’t hold your breath that Pence could muster the balls or morality to suggest he be a replacement President. Remember, it would also take a legal majority of the cabinet to vote to remove Trump from office. The 25th Amendment also mentions Congress as a source for making the move to remove the President.

I’m fairly certain the House of Representatives could attain the votes to enact the 25th, but such a move would die in the Mitch McConnell Senate. So, we are left with a challenge and a problem. Trump’s continual misinformation and pressure on states to reopen schools will probably lead to more infection, more stress on the healthcare system and more death. He has no clue how to solve the problem but he certainly knows how to sugarcoat or dismiss it. He’s ignoring experts and, much worse, he’s poisoning the reasoning of million of Americans and they are doing things that are making this pandemic worse.

I remember the outrage and swift moves that took place during what was named the “Saturday Night Massacre” on the evening of October 20, 1973. On that night, President Richard Nixon ordered his Attorney General, Elliot Richardson, to fire Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox who was conducting the legal investigation of the President’s involvement in the Watergate scandal. Richardson refused and resigned immediately. Nixon then ordered Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus to fire Cox. Ruckelshaus also refused and resigned. Nixon then ordered the third-most-senior official at the Justice Department, Solicitor General Robert Bork, to fire Cox. Bork carried out the dismissal but stayed on to “protect” the Justice Department. The Supreme Court made Nixon turn over tapes of White House conversations that proved he was involved in the break in of the Democrat’s office at the Watergate hotel complex and that he initiated a coverup and used the IRS to go after people he considered enemies. Real douchebag, eh?

The resignations and firing triggered an explosion that led to Nixon’s resignation. The President looked extremely guilty to the American public, and Congress turned against the 37th President and convinced him to leave office because they were about to impeach him. Of course, Trump will never resign even if Lindsey Graham came to the Oval Office with a picture of the Donald alongside naked Russian hookers, but we are getting ahead of ourselves.

What might make a difference? Imagine Dr. Debra Birx, Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Robert R. Redfield calling a press conference and announcing that they were resigning because they can no longer work with, or trust Trump. Then the fireworks would begin.

One of three things would happen, 1. Trump would say he really didn’t know them that well and he was just thinking about getting rid of them anyway, because they gave him such bad advice, 2. Trump would bring in Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil (a man without a medical degree) to say that everything is fine, or 3. Trump would issue an executive order forcing all schools and states to immediately open. Lots of people would die and Donald John Trump would then cancel the election. Okay, maybe the doctors should stay on duty.

You might be thinking, gee, so negative and panicky, but if you just listen to the B.S. of our President you can imagine what I just said playing out. When you hear Trump say that children are immune to the virus and that is why all schools should OPEN NOW, understand that he’s fucking crazy. In a letter sent to parents and obtained by CNN, the head of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, Robert Kosasky, announced the K-12 school season will begin in early September with a virtual-learning-only plan. Ironically, Trump’s son Barron attends St. Andrew’s. I guess the sons and daughters of rich people need to be protected more than the millions of middle and lower-class kids in America. Trump is a demonic demigod who is ready and willing to sacrifice your kids to help his campaign. One could argue that Trump caused the death of Herman Cain, but there is no evidence to prove that. Still, he did reject the notion of mask wearing and Cain obeyed.

The sooner we all stop listening to Trump, the better off this country will be. I could say that he’s delusional, but that could be cured by a good doctor. If all the doctors walked away right now, our country would be in deep shit. And isn’t that why Vladimir Putin wanted Donald Trump to be president. He picked a real loser, and so did America.

CHICKEN LITTLE, “THE SKY IS FALLING!”

Trump’s Terribly Fake Economy is Melting Away

Before the 2016 election, when asked why I didn’t support Donald Trump I would simply smile and calmly say that I lived in New York and I knew Trump. That changed when it looked like he had a serious shot at running for President, Then I just blurted out, “I have never liked him.” To me, his P.T. Barnum routine was inauthentic. When loyalists said that he will help the stock market, get rid of regulations and make us all rich, I never believed it. He is a con man to me and a phony, blowhard, maniacal racist with no concrete facts to support his plans and policies. And by the way, he is still playing with other people’s money, our money.

I am not here to convince you that those people who questioned me were wrong. My blog is the way I release all the steam from the pressurized, overheated, three-pound mass of tissue in my skull. That’s where my logic lives. There is no proof that Trump’s get-even politics and retribution economic policies have made America better or the world economy more stable. He doesn’t understand how trade works and the real effects of tariffs and sanctions. Believing people like Peter Navarro has hurt us, badly.

Let me break it down. Trump is not helping the citizens of this country. His dog-and-pony shows are wasting valuable time needed to solve our country’s coronavirus crisis. The Trump administration has totally disconnected from Congress and it’s 100% the Donald’s fault. The displays of adulation by his sycophants during nationally televised hearings show they care only about how they look, as well. They’re baby Trumps.

The reason why Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin goes to Capitol Hill to motivate Congress in moving on relief packages for the American people is because those in power neither LIKE nor TRUST Donald Trump. Think about it. In what previous administration have you seen the leader of the Treasury being involved with foreign relations, domestic policy and moving bills through congress? According to John Bolton’s book In The Room Where It Happened, Steve Mnuchin kept good things from happening and advanced bad ideas. He has too much power in the administration.

The first Treasury Secretary was Alexander Hamilton, but I’ll wager you can’t name the most previous three. Mnuchin’s work comes about because we have a lazy, ineffectual President. HEY TRUMP, Joe Voter doesn’t live or die with the stock market like you do. They just want you to become a leader with a solid plan to end the damn virus so they can get back to work. STOP PLAYING GAMES, Mr. President. Your lies are crashing into one another.

The health of average Americans is in risk solely because of massive amounts of stupidity from Trump. When he told everyone that he would not be wearing a mask, he should have pulled out a white flag, waved it above his fake, comb-over hair and declared the virus the winner. TRUMP LOST. He was more concerned with the way a damn mask made him look than giving us good advice. What’s the net result of his inept leadership? MORE DEATH!

After months of denial, Trump got serious about the virus and masks for one day, then he darted off into conspiracies and bad advice. WHY? Does he really want to kill people? Why doesn’t someone ask him that? He’s a pathological liar, a sociopath and suffering from an industrial-strength version of narcissistic personally disorder. Pathological, as in, caused by a physical or mental disease which shows itself in compulsive and obsessive behavior. He repeatedly lies until he believes his untruths. The term, sociopath denotes a person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behavior and a lack of conscience. Trump has no empathy or care for us. He wants all the power and all the money. He wants to be king.

And today, we get this tweet from President Donald John Trump, “With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???” And you thought I was being crazy with my comments? There is no way the November 3, 2020 election will be postponed. Donald Trump is preemptively setting up his challenge to an election result that says he didn’t win. He’s a corrupt, lying, low-life dullard. The President does not have the power to change the date of an election. Let me add that if the election were postponed, all the Representatives and Senators who are on the ballot for November 3, 2020 would have to leave the building on January 1, 2021. Yes, their terms would have expired. I wonder if they know that.

Trump is quite predictable. We now have second quarter economic stats. Remember when the Great Orange Liar was running around the country claiming the economy is wonderful and the second quarter would be great? How did that work out? The GDP dropped 32.9 points, which is not good. Trump sent out a fake economist, Larry Kudlow, to say that we are in good shape and moving in the right direction. The two of them should be evicted from the White House for misrepresenting reality.

Trump’s tweet is intended to distract the media from reporting the real problems — millions out of work, no one has money, the economy is melting down and, by the way, 152,000 Americans ARE DEAD from COVID-19. Donald Trump’s lack of action, poor communication and bad policies have caused DEATH!

The sky is falling. I originally wrote a harsh, name-calling paragraph to go in this spot, but after seeing the wonderful service for Representative John Lewis in Atlanta a golden angel tapped on my shoulder and said, “He’s winning when you call him names.” She is right. Calling the idiot in the White House the c, f, k, m or q word doesn’t do any good. What we really need is another MARCH ON WASHINGTON, where millions of people surround the people’s house, tear down the barriers and peacefully demand he leave. What would happen?

USPS & ZIP CODE CALAMITY

Trump’s War Against the Post Office

I am about to go postal over Donald John Trump’s fatuous maligning of another American institution. You may be wondering why our President doesn’t like the US Postal Service (USPS). He’s probably unaware about how this government facility works, but nonetheless he’s been slapping them around for years. Here’s the truth about why that is.

Donald Trump has said, “The Postal Service is a joke!” Even though his administration could be described the same way, Trump has a bee in his bonnet and is obsessed with one of the oldest services in America. The United States Postal Service, simply called “the Post Office” by many, is an independent agency of the Executive Branch of the US federal government. It is one of the few government agencies explicitly authorized by the United States Constitution. So, unless Donald J. Trump thinks he’s going to change the Constitution, the US Mail will survive, but he’s changing things and trying to hurt it.

Trump suffers from what I call “destructive capitalism.” This should not be confused with “destructive creation,” which refers to circumstances in which innovation results in more damage than benefits. For example, if you were once a bowling pin setter, when automation came along you were no longer needed. Trump honestly believes that every part of the government, from domestic services to foreign relations to trade, should make a profit. He would rather hurt another country with a “win-lose” deal than figure out a mutually beneficial plan.

Money is Trump’s father, son and holy ghost. He goes crazy when he sees someone like Jeff Bezos making more money than he and family nets. People claim Donald Trump is worth $2.1 billion, while many experts believe Jeff Bezos’ worth is over $178.2 billion. When Bezos bought the Washington Post newspaper, Trump decided that Amazon and Bezos were out to get him. There is some reason to believe that when Jeff Bezos phone was hacked and the story of his affair and subsequent divorce was leaked to the press, Trump’s friends were behind the breach and blackmailing.

Trump has a thing about the Postal Service because Amazon had been using it for years to deliver tons of Amazon packages. Postal workers were making oodles of overtime pay to deliver them on Saturdays and Sundays. Trump probably doesn’t see the strange arrangement the USPS has with Congress. Unlike other services and departments, they are set up as a “self-sufficient” entity with no tax dollars used to cover their overruns and blistering budgets.

The USPS has 31,000 post offices and another 4,000 contractor-run mail shops, each with their own overhead costs. I thought that the post offices, each having their own zip code, would have been great COVID-19 testing stations, but then, I am a creative capitalist. Now, let’s get back to the economics of the Post Office.

The Postal Service has 300,000 fewer employees than it did twenty years ago, but it still retains 500,000 people and has 600,000 retirees who receive health and pension benefits. They also are unionized. Trump doesn’t want to push the union out; he simply wants to make them another whipping boy.

The US Postal Service lost $8.8 billion in fiscal 2019, which is more than double its losses of the previous year. It makes some sense that a service which charges money should be able to figure out a way to compete. This is especially true since there is only one postal service. But wait, that isn’t quite true. The mega corporations UPS and FedEx deliver packages and, indeed, letters and documents. Let’s also not forget that Amazon has its own delivery force out there every day.

Every country I have ever visited has a postal service. It’s the way letters and notices of official purpose get delivered. A postal service legally documents that something was sent and received. In addition to the USPS not making money, Trump sees a buttload of money going to Bezos and he’s miffed about that. He wants the Post Office to raise its rates.

This new tick Trump has about mail-in voting being a corrupt conspiracy against Republicans, especially him, should sound a siren in your brain. The Donald knows that his goose is cooked, and he’s plotting the excuse he will use when he loses the election. He will also declare the election is invalid. The Post Office is just a convenient place for Trump to stop the COVID motivated march to all mail-in ballots, which would actually be more robust in terms of security and reporting results.

We know that a recent Republican attempt to corrupt mail-in voting in Paterson, New Jersey was caught by, wait for it, postal workers. Yes, they found a bundle of ballots, and after an investigation four people were arrested on charges of fraud in casting mail-in votes, unauthorized possession of ballots and falsifying or tampering with public records. Those arrested included the Patterson’s City Council Vice President, a guy named Michael Jackson. No, I am not making this up.

Michael Jackson, Paterson, NJ

In 2018, there was absentee mail in ballot corruption in North Carolina, in which Leslie McCrae Dowless was charged with two counts of felony obstruction of justice, perjury, solicitation to commit perjury, conspiracy to obstruct justice and illegal possession of absentee ballots. The investigation caused the election results to be overturned and a new election took place.

So, there are two cases which Trump often cites that involved Republicans. Both were discovered and both produced prosecutions. The Post Office is not the problem. Trump is.

One of my friends used to be a letter carrier and I asked him what is going on. He was not happy for his comrades. The rank and file are dismayed by Trump’s new pick for Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy. He’s another financial contributor to Trump with no knowledge of how the Postal Service works, but it is surely doing his bidding. In an early move, DeJoy ended the same day guarantee service for all those Amazon packages, and that took a bunch of overtime pay from the guys and ladies of the USPS. Next, with pandemic hitting the postal service harder than most companies, they are forced into limited service. If you haven’t noticed, the money-making junk mail marketing letters and flyers are way down. States used the USPS to deliver their mail-in ballots, but many didn’t arrive on time. This shocking story by NPR details how many ballots were rejected because they were late.

Rather than fix this problem, Congress is sitting on their hands and Trump is going to blow up the USPS. That man knows how to complain but he has absolutely NO ABILITY to fix. He’s a useless human being, and he’s fat. There, I feel much better now. I’m headed to the mailbox to see what was delivered today.

SCHOOL’S OUT FOREVER!

Trump’s Classroom Conundrum

I could open today’s post with a wise crack about the commander in chief not knowing the meaning of the word, “conundrum,” but I won’t. We are at a fork in the road with two possible routes, and both are challenging.

Our kids have been out of school for more than five months. Some districts and families created robust, online programs to keep the students up to speed, but no one would argue that non-teacher interactions are better than real schools. Most children would also agree because they want to see their friends and learn. Yes, once a kid gets into the discovery mode they want more.

In my recent book, Gold, God, Guns & Goofballs – A Collection of Essays on America, I included two chapters that focused on education in America, 165 Doors and Charter Vs. Public. Public schools are both taxpayer-funded and managed by an array of political people and structures, which can keep a good district down. While teachers’ unions and bargaining agents were created to get teachers better deals, some believe their draconian rule making interferes with community budget planning and any contraction attempts. Our future has always depended on education of the next generation and no one wants to go backwards.

I can’t imagine many mothers and fathers returning to work without the publicly funded babysitter program. Sorry, but that is what some people call it. However, I am sure we all can agree that getting our offspring back to school will make America better. The person who inflicts the most damage to American schools is not Donald Trump. It’s his Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, who is a totally unqualified Republican donor promoting a 21st century segregation scheme under the cloak of “vouchers” and “school choice.” By funding religious and private schools with public money, DeVos is helping to disenfranchise those who cannot afford private education. It’s a policy that divides people from their very first day of school.

Unfortunately, people are focusing on the kids, assuming school administrators and teachers can remain safe at work. Sure, one can scrub down those facilities, but will the schools do this five times a day? Unlikely. The theory that children can deal with the virus better than adults may be the biggest flaw in a rush to get back to school. If a school infection breaks out and a student dies from COVID-19, it it will reflect very poorly on Donald Trump and Betsy DeVos. Of course, Trump will simply blame or fire DeVos for anything bad that happens.

The burden of school districts to clean the structures and test their teachers will demand more money from the federal government and state leaders. Keeping kids safe and smart is paramount. Because the President of the United States has diabolically made the global pandemic personal and political, we will never know what could have been if we had taken careful and scientific steps. We tend to go overboard in protecting our children, and the rush to open schools violates the thoughts and feelings of most parents. Some don’t even let their kids be vaccinated, so why would those same PTA members want to take such a risk? No parent wants their child to be the lab rat in a government experiment.

Most school districts take their guidance and funding of safety measures from their state, not the federal government. Yes, all schools get money from the national budget, but most school boards believe Washington doesn’t know how to run their schools. The President dictates that schools open on his command, but only teachers and administrators understand the stark implications. School districts are currently calling on their administrators to craft a plan, while teachers are seeking a strong strategy to stay safe. Teachers unions are asking important questions that I am sure have never been considered by the village idiots, Donald and Betsy. And of course, the states to open first have the highest percentages of positivity rates.

The most frustrating thing about the coronavirus is the lack of proven and reliable information. One day we are told it spreads six feet, then we are told it doesn’t stay on surfaces, then we are told it that it does stay on surfaces, for hours, then we are told that small droplets can stay in the air for a long time and infect more. Could our indoor social distancing guidelines not be based on exact science? Our slow uptake on mask wearing means we have lost an advantage in this fight. We are playing catch-up ball.

I want to ask Donald Trump why he is pressuring schools to open after saying that decision is up to the state governors? He’s been rebuked for not issuing a national order of mask-wearing and was told directly that he doesn’t have the power to make governors do his bidding. He might want to ask the local leaders what they think is best and stop being a bully.

The misinformation and lies by our President have made the pandemic worse. He forced his sycophant governors to open early, and they are paying the price. The skyrocketing number of cases, hospitalizations and deaths in Texas, Georgia, Florida and Arizona show the power of this virus and the biggest reason NOT TO OPEN SCHOOLS until we are certain it is safe to do so.

The large orange ostrich with his head in the ground needs a good swift kick in his fat ass so he can pull his head out of his partisan hole. The conundrum of reopening schools should not be a global endeavor. Each school and district are unique. Private schools, even with some sense of immunity from prosecution, will shutter their businesses rather than going through a wrongful death lawsuit, and that places the public schools directly in the crosshairs of this virus. What a terrible way to run a country.

Trump has now tweeted that those states ignoring his arbitrary demand to open their schools will lose federal funding. The Department of Education in every state should be happy they are being treated the same way Trump treats Ukraine. It’s a big, fat quid-pro-quo! Trump’s deal is simple, “You make me look good, and you get the money.” What a horrible President!

During Wednesday’s presser Dr. Robert Redfield didn’t answer the question whether he would change the latest guidelines because Trump didn’t like them. Then a minute later, the large white puppet Pence said the CDC will be revising and publishing a new guideline next week. What a dodge.

The big news out of the COVID Task Force press conference was that there has been very little, if any, testing of kids under 10 years of age. They admit they don’t know the dangers, especially with those with pre-existing conditions. This is another failure of leadership that could be a catastrophe for our kids.
