THREADING THE NEEDLE

Is There Really a Deep State?

We are learning much about our government with the wall-to-wall coverage of the impeachment hearings in Washington, and both sides are making us wonder why there are two sides in this matter. Why wouldn’t regular law and order prevail in this passion play of power and perception? Technicalities and treason are under the microscope in the effort to impeach Trump.

Let’s begin with some simple facts. The federal government currently employs about two million full-time employees. There are 113,114 people who work for the Justice Department, and that includes 9,500 attorneys. The Department of State has 75,547 employees, including 13,855 Foreign Service Officers and 49,734 locally employed staff who primarily serve overseas. In addition, 10,171 employees form part of the predominantly domestic civil service. It’s estimated that 21,575 work for the CIA, although that figure is not as knowable as the other stats of the government. They work to keep it a secret.

This next fact will probably blow your mind. “Deep state” is a rather new term, only 30 years old. According to the journalist Robert Worth, “the expression deep state had originated in Turkey in the 1990s, where the military colluded with drug traffickers and hit men to wage a dirty war against Kurdish insurgents” The term “deep state” is likely a translation from the Turkish derin devlet, which means “state within the state.” Can you believe that Donald Trump, who thinks there is a deep state working against him, is the same man who greenlit Turkey’s invasion of Syria to fight the Kurds for land. If you think this sounds like Tom Clancy novel, well you’re not alone.

During his testimony at the impeachment inquiry, Special Envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker claimed he didn’t see an investigation into the Ukrainian energy company Burisma being equivalent to scrutiny of Joe Biden. Volker said. “What I was trying to do in working with the Ukrainians was to thread a needle.” Here we can begin to dissect the notion of a deep state.

Volker works for the State Department and Mike Pompeo. In an unusual arrangement, Volker’s real job is the executive director of the McCain Institute for International Leadership, and his position with the government was an unpaid position. WHAT? The McCain Institute is part of Arizona State University and has nothing to do with the US Government, it’s simply a think-tank on diplomacy and public policy. I’m sure Volker has security clearance to do his job, but how does this work?

There are many questions about the role Rudy Giuliani played in this Ukraine caper and if his involvement in the US foreign policy broke any laws. Also, there are now questions about what is legal, what is illegal and what are the gray regions. Republicans’ desire to out a “whistleblower,” who has legal protection, proves that the fine print of law can sometimes be manipulated to overshadow the big print

The President of the United States has been continually trying to pull the wool over our eyes.  This started before his election. There is a state within the state and Donald Trump is the gang leader of this deep state. Our president has colluded with others, both in and out of the government, to bend laws, rules and policies so he could exercise his pursuit of personal gain. He believes the treasury is his bank account, like the Trump Foundation was. He’s just another corrupt, fat-cat politician and grifter.

This president is no different than Richard Nixon, who used the IRS, FBI and CIA to go after his enemies. Donald Trump ignores laws, believing he is above them. Nixon and Trump share an unhealthy disdain for the press and anyone who disagrees with them. Nixon is long gone, but his fate bears a lesson for Trump. Toward the end of his presidency, Richard Nixon turned to drinking at night to help himself get through the pressure of impeachment. Trump doesn’t drink, so he turns to his real addiction, Twitter. It is obvious that our 45th President mistakenly believes he can change the world by tweeting. What a shallow, irresponsible human. Sadly, he’s our president.

A magnetifying glass can make threading a needle easier by bringing little things into sharp focus. As we get closer and closer to the facts, it’s easy to see an “end justifies the means” mentality in many of the people who surround Trump. The deep state are those operatives — men like William Barr, Mick Mulvaney and Rudy Giuliani who, at the command of the ringleader, will do anything to advance the deep state of Trump. Outside of the government, his cult followers fuel his insane view of the world. Inside the government, the state within the state threatens democracy as we know it. How can we recover fast enough to repair this democracy? Impeachment is not an evil act of desperation, it’s normal order for a President who is out of order.

WHO FRAMED ROGER STONE?

Trump Whisperer Gets Caught in the Web

It’s time. When someone from the Trump camp says they did nothing wrong, we must turn over that stone and see the evidence. When Trump himself continually says “No Collusion,” we have a pattern of denial that is baked into the man’s shallow credibility. When Roger Stone claimed there was no evidence linking the 2016 Presidential campaign to Russian interference and leaked DNC emails he was lying, just like his buddy, Trump.

There are a lot of things Donald Trump could do to ease the anger that is being fueled by his obvious lack of candor and the thousands of lies he has told, but I doubt that will ever happen. There are clear signs of obstruction of justice in this case, as well as a genuine lack of respect for the law.

Roger Stone is an old school political operative who has worked for Republican politicians like Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Jack Kemp and Bob Dole. Many of his actions may have not been unlawful but they were certainly awful. Most people who know him say this man would do anything to help his client get elected. In the 25-page indictment of Roger Stone, it’s clear that he truly believes he is above the law. His long, late-night conversations with Donald Trump made Mr. Stone more than an employee. He’s a co-conspirator in the attempted hijacking of America’s democratic process.

Stone has been charged with obstruction of justice, making false statements to law enforcement and attempting to persuade a witness to provide false testimony to, and withhold pertinent information from, investigators. The latter is the very reason Paul Manafort has been jailed since he was charged. Why shouldn’t Roger Stone also be incarcerated now?

There are many more shoes that will likely drop and one must ask some basic questions. If you could have a president who didn’t lie, would that be better than the president we have now? Would you like to have a president who has a reasonable understanding of America’s political strength in the world and our need to help keep global peace? Would you like to have a president who doesn’t seem to be working for Putin and Russia? Well, assuming we all want that, we have the wrong president. It’s time to Impeach Trump before he is arrested. He’s been lying through this whole mess.

Why can’t we just get back to NORMAL government? Who framed Roger Stone? He framed himself, just another narcissistic human being trying to seem like a big shot with Donald Trump. As the bullshit veneer is stripped away from the packaging of lies and deceit, Stone and others like him will all go down. They are an embarrassment to the United States of America!

PETTY LITTLE BOY

Trump Shows His Major Weakness, Again

Donald J. Trump is clearly the worst president in my lifetime, pushing Richard Nixon out of that insidious position. Once again, his winning any game he is playing is more important then what is good for the country. He creates an environment where he must then boldly act to solve the very problem he created.

Trump lambasted China with tariffs which deeply affected our soy bean farmers in the Midwest. Then, he asked the US taxpayers to help our farmers out of a problem of his own creation. Trump’s actions made the prices of soy beans decrease by 50%, thereby crushing the very people who voted for him. Why wasn’t this better thought out?

He demanded money for a border wall, got $20 billion, then walked away from a grand plan to bond the wall funding with concrete immigration reform. Next, he decided to stonewall Congress and own a shutdown that seriously hurts people. Trump is asking too much of the people who support him. Government agencies, like the IRS, are calling people back to work without pay. What kind of leader is this? How is a worker unessential one day then indispensable the next?

“I will be proud to own a SHUTDOWN!”

Pelosi’s State of the Union delay letter vs. Trump’s No Fly letter is just one example of the stupid things the Goofballs in Washington do all the time. They must be bored with running the country. Trump can’t make things better, he only makes them worse.

And now we get this report from BuzzFeed that President Donald Trump personally directed his longtime former attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about the Moscow Trump Tower project. How many times will we hear the words, “bombshell report” before members of Congress get off their over-fed asses and do something about Trump?

Let’s first reopen the discussion about whether a “sitting President” can be indicted. There is a simple answer here, one that is far above the Department of Justice and the Executive Branch; it’s the very fiber of American Constitutional law. If we truly live in a land of laws, where no man or woman is above the law, then why would a memo that Robert Bork wrote in 2000 keep us from administering justice at the highest level of government? The law must apply to all, and it’s time to test this concept.

Impeachment is the process of cleansing a bad player from one of our three branches of government. It’s not a road well-traveled, but it has been used in the past. The cases against Presidents Andrew Johnson and William Clinton were strong political acts, and they are the only examples of how impeachment has worked in the past. In each case, impeachment proceedings failed to extricate the person from office, but we do have a remedy for a bad actor in the White House. These cases demonstrate that care must be taken to build a foundation of facts and count votes in the Senate before beginning the journey. Nixon would have been convicted, but his party leaders responsibly talked him out of the embarrassment of the ordeal.

By instructing his attorney to lie to Congress, Donald J. Trump has broken the pledge he made during his inaugural swearing-in. “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” It’s the latest example of Trump’s greatest weakness; he lies and will do anything needed to mollify his ego. His judgment is impaired. If the cabinet and Vice President were worthy of their power, they would evoke the 25th Amendment. Of course, that will never happen because Mike Pence is a man of little loyalty to truth. He is a weakling trudging the earth, pulling the might yoke of Christianity, which he places above the Constitution.

Let’s be clear. The Trump Tower project was very important to Trump and his organization, now run by his older sons. Some experts believe the Trump Tower in Moscow would have netted Trump more than $300 million. To be clear, the elements of any crime include: one has engaged in conduct in circumstances forbidden by the criminal law and while doing so, had a defined state of mind in relation to the prohibited conduct, knew that deed was wrong, proceeded with the conduct in order to create a favorable result for the individual. If he ordered Michael Cohen to lie to Congress to protect the deal, or hide his non-disclosure, Donald Trump is guilty.

But the final straw that will break the camel’s back will come from Robert Mueller’s report, not the press.

As we get closer to a national realization that Trump is bad for America and his words and actions conflict with American interests. Congress must act. If later we find out that Trump had a plan to help Russia, then we would all be complicit in the destruction of important American values. This man is not making America great again; he is slowly tearing our country apart.

We are America. We are better than this. We don’t need Trump. We need an honest, strong and moral leader.  THIS JUST IN….

Representative Nancy Pelosi comments on Donald Trump’s cancelling of the Congressional Delegation trip to war zones:

“In the middle of the night, the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service provided an updated threat assessment detailing that the President announcing this sensitive travel had significantly increased danger to the delegation and to the troops, security, and other officials supporting the trip. This morning, we learned that the Administration had leaked the commercial travel plans as well. In light of the grave threats caused by the President’s action, the delegation has decided to postpone the trip so as not to further endanger our troops and security personnel, or the other travelers on the flights.”

TRUMP IS CRAZY

America Can Do Better Than This

I woke up this morning with a question thumping through my mind, “Why do Americans have to suffer because of Donald Trump?” For the life of me, I don’t understand why any clear-thinking person can’t see through this bloated baffoon.

First, we do have one of the best economies since right after World War II. Why can’t the boy in power just leave that alone? Why aggravate the situation with emotional trade wars, threating tweets and creating barriers between the US and our allies? If we are doing so well, why would any American have to go without a paycheck? Trump’s theories are ill-conceived and foolish, and they make people go without pay and cause children to die in our custody.

Donald Trump suggests we are going to have to suffer for the short term to fix what he claims has been broken for years, really? For the most part, the world has avoided massive wars during the past 45 years and the economies of most developed countries have been relatively stable. Why screw with that? I don’t believe in Donald Trump. He’s not a king or a deity, but he certainly is a shitty economist.

You can line-up the top economists and Neo-cons in Congress and ask them to explain things, but you will not get a clear answer about what is so wrong with a global economy. We’ve already paid for a better life with cheap clothes and cars. BTW, the air is cleaner in Pittsburgh and a hard drive company now sits where a steel mill used to be. Trump didn’t always buy American steel to build some of his unimaginative buildings, and you can argue that hurt this country. But now that he’s in charge he wants to fix it all. Good luck, fat ass; isolationism works only when you have no friends.

The recent government shutdown, the third in a year, proves that Donald J. Trump is a horrendous executive with zero talent for pre-planning and advanced thinking. We could avoid all this if Trump wasn’t such a stupid politician. Smart politicians get what they want by goals that inflict the least amount of pain on the people they expect to re-elect them.

Trump stood in the rose garden of the White House yesterday and inferred that people who aren’t getting paychecks care more about his wall than the pain they will feel without food on the table. What an out-of-touch human being. What a dolt Donald is.

The Democrats, now swelling with power in the House of Representatives, feel that they must stop Trump. Are their actions purely partisan or are they really executing a brilliant tactic to demonstrate that our leader is only a feckless loser wearing no pants?

What most people don’t understand is that building a wall of the magnitude Trump wants would take decades with a cost close to $200-300 billion. In my hometown, it took six months to repave a one-mile strip of road. At that rate, straight math suggests it would take more than 300 years to build a 2,000-mile border wall.

Donald Trump knows that construction projects take time. Building the Trump Tower in New York took two years, and two people died in the process.

The real problem here folks, as the Donald likes to call you, is that we have a thug-businessman in the White House, and that doesn’t seem to be working in DC. As much as I hate Newt Gingrich, at least he understands that Washington works on its own rules and on its own clock. Trump knows nothing; I’m not at all sure about what skills he has. He certainly doesn’t know how to please all the people who want him to be a real leader, including 60% of American citizens and our allies all over the world.

Trump’s government shutdown over the wall is symbolic of his whole presidency. He cares only about a win for Trump, regardless of the cost to American workers and their families. He casts a shadow over the prospect of meaningful negotiation by saying the government could be shut down for months, maybe years. What a fucking baby. And then he says he could declare a national emergency and build the wall as Commander-in-Chief. Now you know why Mattis quit, General Kelly is gone, and McMaster is missing in action. Yet our lunatic President claims that he knows how America works. Where are the new Generals to step up keep this jagoff under control? Well I call BS. It’s time to impeach the motherfucker. To be clear, both Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels are mothers.

TRUMP’S GENERAL DISARRAY

Major Disagreements on Principle

See that small crack in the wall? As the tremors President Donald J. Trump himself has created shake the foundation of our very republic, we are watching that crack widen and spawn others, threatening the democracy of the United States of America.

There was a time in the last two years, when those words would have been greeted with the admonishment that I was being unreasonable, and that Trump was a good president. His fans would say, “Why are you freaking out? You’ll see it all work out.” It hasn’t. It won’t. It can’t. Donald Trump is disruptive, in a very unproductive way.

The Generals are all leaving him now. Those Generals he so aligned himself with during the campaign so that the America public might see him as the Command-in-Chief we need, rather than the boisterous buffoon he’s always been. The retired military leaders stood on stage with him and waved their hands. One even led the chant of “Lock her up,” but in the end, they were just props for the Donald Show, one we hope doesn’t get renewed for a second season.

People like General Kelly and General Flynn are ideologs Trump used and then threw away. General James N. Mattis, our former Secretary of Defense, is a man of honor and honesty. I said in my book, Donald Trump: Repeal, Replace, Impeach, that Trump picked him based solely on the fact he liked saying his nickname, “Mad Dog Mattis.” While that was unfair to General Mattis, it probably is truer than most of what Trump has said in the past two years.

We have found ourselves in many major disagreements on principle with Donald J. Trump. Things aren’t getting better, they are getting worse. Before we get to February, when Trump will push a partisan into the role of Secretary of Defense, let’s look at Jim Mattis’ serious words.

One line that probably stung Trump the hardest, “One core belief I have always held is that our strength as a nation is inextricably linked to the strength of our unique and comprehensive system of alliances and partnerships.” This brings America to the real debate we’ve been having for the last two or three years, “globalist” vs. “nationalist.” This conundrum Trump has forced to the forefront has been fabricated into the farce one could cynically call the Trump Doctrine.

Mattis is a smart man. He understands how the world works far better than Donald Trump ever will. Let’s think of the world as a giant tree. Some people see only the branches and the limbs but never consider the root system that feeds and supports the mighty plant. Trump sees only the tree. He’s happy when it’s in bloom and fully green, but turns against it when the leaves turn brown and drop to the ground. He would rather cut the tree down and sell the wood, than understand what is really going on. He’s not someone you want leading a country during the autumn and winter months.

We are entering the winter of his presidency and we must shore up our institutions to deal with this bad leader. All the countries of the world are linked. They are the root system that keeps democracy and democracies alive. The principles we bring to the world order are smart strategies based on history, military strength and, most importantly, our calm resolve in the face of calamities. Donald J. Trump is the wrong person to lead the greatest country in the world. He is not worthy.

What Jim Mattis has brought to light is the veracity that Trump has pissed off our allies and given some of the dastardliest regimes a chance to grow. These weeds are out to hurt our allies and eventually take advantage of the United States of America. Mattis has told truth, and for that I respect him greatly.

Which One is Out of Place?

Donald Trump doesn’t believe in America, he believes in Donald Trump. Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis pointed out that, “… we must use all tools of American power to provide for the common defense, including providing effective leadership to our alliances.” And with that line, the head of the pentagon and all our troops was saying that the President is not a good leader. 60% of America already knows this and more Republicans are finally coming to their senses. We have two choices, wait until 2020 and elect someone else, or IMPEACH TRUMP NOW!

America is more than one man. We will survive the departure of Generals Mattis and Kelly, and we certainly don’t need a traitor like Michael Flynn anywhere near the White House, but the natives are restless. People are seeing the results of terrible domestic and foreign policies that have wrought worrisome disarray and disorder. As the true American hero John McCain said, “It’s time we get back to regular order.” And, I might add, as soon as possible.

Ask the farmer who has storehouses full of soybeans he can’t sell. Trump has no idea what he’s doing with trade. Ask the single mother of three who received absolutely no benefit from Trump’s imaginary tax cut. Our child-in-chief has no idea what it’s like to live in American without vast sums of money. Ask the Florida small businesses that were forced to close due to dead fish on the beach. Trump’s environmental policies and “theories” will destroy our land and value as a nation.

We are all Americans, and until we get a president who is there for ALL OF AMERICA, we are less than great. Trump is destroying our nation. I implore both Democrats and Republicans to create an exit strategy for Trump. After he pulls all the troops out of Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, the Middle East will dissolve to chaos. That will not be good for Israel or America. TRUMP is the PROBLEM. Let’s fix it, now!

DRAMATIC RETREAT

Trump Pulls Out of Syria

When the Donald J. Trump Foundation “charity” was forced to closure by New York State, our orange president bearing the same name suddenly announced that all US Troop would be withdrawn from Syria. Did the President of the United States make a major policy decision just to push his foundation problems off the front page. OMG!

Could this decision be part of the promises Trump made behind closed doors to Putin in Helsinki? Our president confuses his campaign promises to his misguided and unhealthy love of the Russian leader. This administration’s Foreign Policy is based on Trump’s myopic viewpoints with no input from experts.

The Senators, both Democrats and Republicans, have become very vocal about this snap decision and some, like Lyndsey Graham, have said this rash move is Obama-like. You cannot present a greater criticism of Trump than comparing him to Obama. So what will Trump do now?

Even Fox News presenters are criticizing our esteemed leader. Rush Limbaugh has declared Trump’s declaration a mistake since he got nothing in return from the other leaders. For once, Rush is making sense.

What a colossal political mistake. Trump just executed a “Mission Accomplished” moment. Putin backs Trump’s move to withdraw US troops from Syria, but only goes as far as saying the Islamic State has been dealt “serious blows.” Even Putin doesn’t believe ISIS is defeated. Trump may have done a deal with the leader of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who convinced him that the Kurds are terrorists and moving troops out of Syria would help the world. How naïve Trump must be.

What we have said here from the beginning is that Trump’s use of Twitter will create a major problem to this country, our security and the world order. He’s not mature enough to have a Twitter account. If I was a millionaire, I would sue Twitter and Trump and seek an injunction against them. There must be a restraining order against the President. TRUMP IS WRONG, and every Republican knows it.

Add this to the impeachment case against Donald J. Trump. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to stand up for America!

ORRIN HATCH IS A MORON

Republicans Sell Their Souls for Trump

I never thought I would say I would be happy that Mitt Romney was the next Senator from Utah, but I am. Another way to say it, when Orrin Hatch retires at the end of the year, the United States Senate will be a better body.

When Senator Hatch was asked about the obvious connection between Michael Cohen’s crimes and testimony and Donald Trump, Mr. Hatch said he didn’t care. He just brushed aside the reporter saying, “Trump is doing a good job as president.” Really? Orrin’s reaction was like the Catholic parishioner looking the other way on sexual abuse and saying we should think about all the good things Father “So and So” has done. Where’s the law and order, Mr. Hatch?

We have been hearing Donald Trump’s chant of “No Collusion” and the misrepresentative of the Special Counsel’s investigation as a “Witch Hunt” for more than a year, but the President is running out of time to prove his innocence. Let’s make it clear, the reason the investigation was started was because of the facts that many Trump associates and campaign people met with Russians and LIED ABOUT IT. And the reason this was important from the beginning was because the US intelligence community all agreed that Russian agents attempted to disrupt the electoral process in the 2016 Presidential election. These are facts and dangerous activities.

The dirty deeds of Trump allegedly having affairs and paying the women for their silence to help his chances of being elected, were minor events until Trump LIED ABOUT IT. Michael Cohen and now, the publisher of the National Inquirer have accused Trump of paying women to help him get elected. It’s an in-kind political contribution, which is against the law.

John Edwards used “child support” as an accuse for his dirty deeds. We wonder what senseless scheme or legal loophole Trump’s team will claim. It’s not the crime, it’s the cover-up that places Trump in the same league as Richard Nixon.

The fact that Trump refused to release his tax returns wasn’t breaking a law, but the reason he didn’t release them was a LIE. What might be hidden in those returns would shed light on whether Trump owes money to Russian or Saudi Arabian banks. And what moneys will Donald Trump make if he does favors for certain countries? The emolument case in Maryland and D.C. will prove how much money Trump and his family are making since he has become president. Those will be more FACTS, not lies.

The reason the Republicans are not speaking out against the way Trump has handled all this is because of people like Orrin Hatch. What moral authority lets him look the other way when the leader of the free world lies to his countrymen and women? Maybe Mitt can stand up to those in his party and start to bring some moderate, moral judgements to the floor of the Senate. Without Corker and Flake, the body is on shaky ground. The earthquake Trump has brought to America has done its damage and it’s time for someone to stand up and say, let’s move forward with REGULAR ORDER. The cracks in Democracy can be fixed, but we should NOT wait too long.

It’s not a party thing, it’s an American thing. Donald J. Trump is a LIAR, and everyone knows it. He’s a grand master flip-flopper and has little comprehension of how our government works and why international leadership is important. Trump is more interested in performing in his dystopian reality TV show, swirling fear and promoting conspiracies that have no basis in fact. He’s a pathological liar.

We must impeach him. Why waste the time trying to change the law about indicting a sitting president? Congress has a method to remove the cancer from the Presidency, it’s impeachment. We cannot wait for the toadies and traitors in Congress to get the job done. The American people must SPEAK UP and defeat the liars.

TEAR GAS AND TARIFFS

Trump’s Punchbowl Dirty Deeds

The very vulgar saying, “a turd in the punchbowl” applies to Donald Trump in most of what he says and how he acts. It means something or someone that spoils, ruins, or needlessly complicates a situation or circumstance. One could also say, that a person doing such a horrible thing was being a disagreeable nuisance or source of irritation. The President sure does what he wants without the understanding or care of how it might hurt people. He makes up his own analysis and answers without hearing from experts or opposite points of view.

When Donald Trump wanted to fulfill one of his campaign promises to get back at China and Europe, he ordered tariffs on steel and aluminum. When Trump created a fear of South Americans coming to the US-Mexico border, he got his wish. Young men and families attempted to cross the border into San Diego. And in true form, Trump border army launched tear gas and mustard bullets into the crowds without any regard for the women and children. One can argue the old “human shield” argument, but when Trump lied about three border agents being injured, he proved once again that he will lie about anything.

When asked about the latest mandated government report on the affects and possible results of climate change, he simply said, “I don’t believe it.” At this point, we don’t really know what he believes in. He says he believes in America and America First, but when his actions directly harm the economy, the workers and the international reputation of the United States, his actions seem like a big joke, rather than serious governance.

He surrounds himself with “Yes” men and women who sometimes, against their own judgement, will agree with him and push out the lies that support the most outrageous statements. Some in government, knowing they will be held to a certain standard by oversight and ethics lawyers, will tell the truth. And then the truth is buried.

When the smoke clears on this administration, we will fully comprehend the damage that this fool has brought to our country. The shame of those who disagree but do not speak will not be forgotten. With their $800 suits and TV makeup, Senators and Representatives have done nothing to stop this rogue president and his disregard for the rule of law. Donald Trump is just another self-serving political whore without any moral conviction or patriotic spine. He only works toward his own agenda without the long-term implications being considered. He also is lying about how he is losing money by being president. If that is true, why wouldn’t he fire his sons running the company?

Sure, Trump can get press showing soldiers lobbing tears gas into Hispanics at the border, but his plan just might backfire. If Mexico holds the immigrants and works toward giving them jobs and housing near the border, Mexico could have a new low wage work force that will eventually hurt the US job market? Time will tell.

But the man who says he has a plan to make everything better and create millions of jobs is now faced with the inevitable reality, that US corporations are capitalistic organizations that make decisions based on data, not the whim of a man with a big tie. We saw what General Motors did this week, and we know that even though they won’t admit it openly, the tariffs that Trump imposed will cost that company a billion dollars.

A recent article showed tons of soy beans rotting in storage because of Trump’s actions with the Asian markets. When does someone suggest more talking with trading partners and less outright antagonistic bullshit and tweet storms.

The fact that Donald Trump can only disagree makes him a president who cannot work toward someone else’s good idea.

He has created a vacuum and slipped something into the punchbowl that no one wants. Our Great Orange Leader is his own worst enemy. The latest poll shows that 60% disapprove of him and only 38% think he’s a great leader. He says that there may be some short-term pain, but why would any worker have to fear that they might lose their job? The stock market is doing so well, why wouldn’t those companies take care of their workers? Oh yeah, Trump doesn’t care about the workers. He only says he does.

BLACK EYE ON THE ADMINISTRATION

Absentee President Trump

It is amazing to me how disconnected Donald Trump is from in the citizens of America, but it’s even more troubling seeing how unconnected he is with those who work with him every day. If we believe reports, he might be more interested in his teams’ sex lives than whether they received the proper security clearance to be working with classified documents.

The story of Rob Porter, White House secretary, is just another example of this administration’s inability to find the right people, vet them properly and make sure they won’t become a public relations problem. One can get fooled by pedigree and college diplomas, but the FBI knew of Rob’s shortcomings and let the Chief of Staff, John Kelly, know about them. Can you believe the FBI did its job? Hope Hicks, another Trump private dancer, appears to be “involved” with too many of the Trump men and is on the Special Counsel’s radar. Should she also go?

According to CNN, “Senior aides to President Donald Trump knew for months about allegations of domestic abuse levied against top White House staffer Rob Porter by his ex-wives.” Now, no one likes a wife beater, but the grotesque defense of this public figure by those in high places is despicable. Even after we all saw a picture of one of Porter’s wives with a black eye, they continued the soft-shoe routine.

This “nothing-to-see-here” routine has become mighty old. I contend that Donald Trump doesn’t have the principled disciplines of a good business person because he never worked for a public company. In a sense, his private venture businesses made him isolated and ignorant about why good governance is good business. All of his success went to his head, not to a knowledge base he can rely on during today’s challenges.

Trump may want a splashy military parade, but he doesn’t want to admit that, after one year in office, the number of people who had to be shit-canned displays his abundant incompetence. If he wants to put on a uniform and go fight some of these wars that we still wage, he might be able to salvage some credibility. Right now, though, he looks like a little boy playing with his tiny toy soldiers, alone in a room, far, far away.

Rob Porter is just another one on the list of people who follow Trump not because they are gallant patriots but because they, too, have fallen for the con. How do we judge the people who will lie for this man? What will history show about people like Omarosa, Tom Price, Sebastian Gorka, Steve Bannon, Anthony Scaramucci, Reince Priebus, Sean Spicer, Mike Dubke, Michael Flynn and, now, Rob Porter? I predict they will become little footnotes in the story I am now calling The Great American Mistake.

Donald Trump as President is a mistake. As the stock market yo-yos up and down, the leader of the free world appears to be less in control and more out of touch than any president before him. He said, “… what the hell!” at a Prayer Breakfast in Washington. At least he didn’t use the F-word or say “shithole” again. But there is still time for more faux pas and indiscretions. Just like his kids, the Great Orange Leader has achieved the award for most out-of-touch person of the year. Maybe he’ll make the cover of DIPSHIT magazine.

I spoke with a gentleman the other day who works with stocks and trading. We were talking about all the partisan bickering and how it prevents things getting done. And then he said, “I just wish we could get back to moderation on all this stuff.” And I agreed. But with Donald Trump, he doesn’t care about moderating his views. He has no compromise genes in his body.

The true “black eye” on this administration is that fact they don’t listen to other points of view. The Trump Republicans, like sheep, wait to find out what the big guy is going to say before they articulate their positions. Whatever Trump says about the deal, they all align with and defend. When someone does something wrong, there is an unwillingness to simply tell the truth and move on. Any person who refuses to say, “I’m sorry” has a huge character flaw.

John Kelly has become today’s “whipping boy” on the Rob Porter crisis. But why is this even a crisis? As soon as Porter’s erratic and damaging personal conduct was discovered, he should have been eliminated from the team. John Kelly has already shown that he is nothing but Trump’s puppet, and he works every day attempting to fix the behavior of what most of his contemporaries believe is a disastrous human being in command.

This is not Kelly’s fault. Donald Trump probably knew about Porter’s past and simply didn’t think it was important. It’s been documented that Donald Trump has harassed and performed his own sexual misconduct on more than 19 women. Why would he care about what Rob Porter did to his two ex-wives?

The character of the man at the top continues to be exposed, but that doesn’t change anything. This is a President without any core belief system or a genuine need to follow the law. As John Kelly might say, Trump is an empty barrel. Totally absentee and asinine.
