WHITE HOUSE & WHISTLEBLOWERS

Trump Faces the Fire of Truth and Rules

One of the good things about Richard Nixon’s Watergate debacle was the new rules for oversight of the president and the executive branch by Congress.

Judgement is not a Republican or Democratic principal. It’s simply an ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions before the application of ethics, morality and legal interpretations. People like Corey Lewandowski believe in the old concept of the unitary executive, which is a theory of US constitutional law holding that the president possesses the power to control the entire executive branch. The doctrine is rooted in Article Two of the United States Constitution, which vests “the executive power” of the United States in the President.

Richard Nixon believed no presidential action could be unlawful. Does that mean the President of the United States could order a murder? Trump’s former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, said under oath in Congress that Donald Trump asking him to deliver a message to the sitting Attorney General to stop an investigation into him was not breaking any law. This was the unitary executive theory in action.

According to the Washington Post, “A whistleblower complaint has triggered a tense showdown between the U.S. intelligence community and Congress and involves President Trump’s communications with a foreign leader. Trump’s interaction with the foreign leader included a “promise” that was regarded as so troubling that it prompted an official in the U.S. intelligence community to file a formal whistleblower complaint with the inspector general for the intelligence community.”

Joseph Maguire, DNI

This just in, The Washington Post and The New York Times reported 9-19-2019 that the contacts at issue between Trump and the foreign leader involve Ukraine. In the past, some of Trump’s supporters, including his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, have urged the Kiev government to open investigations on his political rivals, including Joe Biden. Was this presented with a bribe of foreign aid, or perhaps, was the threat of withholding the aid part of the deal?

The acting director of national intelligence, Joseph Maguire, has refused to share Trump’s alleged transgression with lawmakers. Under statute he must do this within seven days. This has created speculation that the spy chief is protecting the president. Once again, Mr. Maguire may have broken the rules by taking this matter to the DOJ before advising Congress.

The good news here is that Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson has determined that the complaint is credible and troubling enough to be considered a matter of “urgent concern.” All the paperwork has been filed and there is no getting away from the truth in this matter. While this news was breaking, recently fired National Security Advisor John Bolton was out making speeches about how bad Trump’s foreign policies are. It appears his words were leaked from a closed-door meeting.

William Barr and Donald Trump cannot keep this information from Congress and they know that once the complaint is disclosed to the members of the House Intelligence Committee it will be leaked. Presidents complain about leaks, but they are an important part of how the American public learns about the workings of their government. Transparency is good for democracy and helps rid us of deceptive and dishonest people who debase the very nature of freedom in the United States.

Checks and balances are at the core of our government’s strength. They were built into the process of governance by our founders who didn’t want the executive office to bear any resemblance to the kings and queens of other countries. When John Adams proposed to Thomas Jefferson that we call the president “your highness,” Jefferson was strongly offended and suggested the simple “Mr. President” as a suitable designation.

Donald Trump will claim he can say whatever he wants to any leader of another country. He might declare that it is how he negotiates, but somewhere in the millions of words he uses he should never sell out America for a deal. We know that Trump and his family are benefiting financially from his presidency. That is against the law. From the Mueller Report, we know that he was involved in obstruction of justice, and that’s also against the law. Now we are learning that he and his attorney general are blocking a whistleblower from being heard. That too is against the rules, policies and laws of this land.

There is a simple remedy for all this skullduggery. Congress should demand the disclosure of the whistleblower report. If acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire refuses, they should ask the Sergeant at Arms of the United States House of Representatives to bring him to Capitol Hill or incarcerate him until he complies. Yes, they have the power to do that and they need to play hardball on all contempt of Congress charges. Until the House of Representatives follows the laws and procedure of oversight, how we can expect the President to comply? Maybe they should start with the Attorney General and demand he recuse himself from this matter. Let’s get to the bottom of all this corruption.

IRANIAN DRONES AND DINGBATS

Trump’s Challenge of Inexperience

Over the years, I have noticed that insecure people have a peculiar habit of attempting to rewrite history. When they make a mistake with a word or phrase and are corrected by someone, after acknowledging the blunder they tend to overuse the correct form of the term. This brings us to Donald Trump.

Last June, another Trump Twitter malaprop popped out. In response to Iran shooting down a US drone, Trump decided NOT to respond because it would have killed 150 people. In his tweet saying that bombing Iran would have been a disproportionate reaction Trump used the expression, “We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night…”

It didn’t take the press and bloggers, this one included, to point out that the correct expression is “locked and loaded” and anyone with a modicum of military experience would have known the right form. I questioned how he could have possibly misused the term.  Didn’t the New York Military Academy teach him the right words? Trump told us he would always be using the “best words.”

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

It wasn’t surprising to see President Trump’s tweet about the US being “locked and loaded” in response to the drone strikes on Saudi Arabia oil facilities. He’s trying to eradicate his mistake more than transmitting a thoughtful message to his nation and the world. In fact, minions from Mike Pence’s office tried to explain away his aggressive remark before we had proof that Iran was behind the strike. They took the lock and the load out of his meaning and just confused the whole affair.

Trump should have waited before issuing a warning, but nothing seems to stop him from wading into a lake before he tests the water for quicksand. A few days later he made it seem like it wasn’t our problem, throwing the burden over to the Saudis. Doesn’t this schmuck of a president understand that oil prices, and thus gas prices, are set to soar here?

The use of the term “drone strike” connotatively makes it seem like a toy brought down the Saudi Arabia oil supply. The act was carried out by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and they didn’t need to carry bombs; they just had to fly into the right areas of the oil refinery. But here’s a bigger question. If the Saudi Crown Prince – MBS – is such a smart and rich leader, why wouldn’t those facilities have airspace security? And Trump should now be asking if the US refineries are just as vulnerable to an airstrike.

When we have a president who claims he knows everything and is smarter than all the generals; we have a problem. No one person can know everything. Sadly, the operation of the Trump administration is all about people coming in AFTER SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS to explain how it works to our thick-headed chief executive. He doesn’t plan, so he’s always trying to fix or correct the mistakes he’s made in the past. He’s a fool!

There are a lot of people who will agree that Iran was behind the launch of UAVs that hit the Saudi Arabian oil plants. While the Saudis are laying out the claim against Iran and trying to gain support from other nations, Trump seems to be unsure of what to do. What is the right answer? Does he start another war, when he claimed that his campaign opponents would surely get us into a war? Wouldn’t it be ironic that after walking out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action that was signed by the US and six other nations plus the EU he was the sole person left to decide what to do about Iran? The body of nations isn’t happy with Trump and they will be very cautious about getting anywhere near him on this issue.

Trump’s memory of what he promised on the campaign trail supersedes all current information and logic. He simply wants to trample on Obama’s achievements and attack those who disagree with him. He truly believes that when he says something is the worst deal ever everyone will see things his way. I wonder whether Trump even read the JCPA or comprehended its effect on the world. It’s funny how something that China and Russia thought was a good idea, isn’t a good idea for Donald Trump. He tore up the deal and now he alone might have to handle an emerging, nuclear Iran. Did Trump not understand that the agreement was deterring Iraq from their goal? Our Idiot-in-Chief’s lack of experience in diplomatic solutions is appalling. Really smart, successful people in the diplomatic world will never work for him, and that is the small problem. He is the true problem.

PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES ARE BORING

Trump Handicaps a Race Without Him

You wanna watch but it’s hard, like watching a baseball game between two teams you don’t care about. It’s become clear that neither the network nor the moderators make a difference. The debate structure is uninformative; it’s just talking points and poorly written punches.

We know that the Tweeter-in-chief will drop his multiple putdowns and rebukes of those who are running on the other side. He will call them names and say they are all socialists, but he should be worrying. Afterall, lots of people really don’t like Trump. Polarity gets him attention, but it doesn’t bring more people to the party.

In the Spring of 2016, I sent a note to my assemblyman in New York. I’ve known him for a long time. He lived in my building. I suggested that a better presidential ticket would have been Biden and Warren. He explained he was a Hillary man and reminded me that she and Bill were his constituents. Monday morning quarterbacking is not my style, but I really thought Hillary had too many problems with women to bring the country together. Yes, women.

Debates that aren’t actual debates hurt both the Republicans and Democrats. The failed system of having a glossy, sparkling set with candidates standing behind well-lit podiums is a bit much.

Since 2016, I have contended that Bernie Sanders did more damage to Hillary Clinton in the debates than Trump or the Russians. Hillary was her own worst enemy at times. You remember, not traveling to the right states at the right time, telling coal miners she was going to put them out of business and fainting on 9/11. Not faults, no blame, just realities.

Because there were so few candidates on the debate stage, Bernie was able to position Clinton as a Wall Street darling who would kowtow to the money managers at the banks, just like Trump did once he was elected. Bernie’s enthusiasm for social programs is infectious, but the specter of increased debt for America is senseless.

I could march through all the candidates and point out their strengths and weaknesses, but that snapshot would be meaningless in such a mercurial process. In 30 days the statistics will probably look totally different. Call me crazy, but a moderate at the top of the ticket makes the most sense. Progressives always appear to be more active because they have a huge list of things they are going to do, but we know, most of what they are proposing won’t get done. I suggest the main job of a democratic president in the first 100 days will be nullifying every executive order that Trump has signed.

Being passive is not the way to get noticed on a stage of ten, but sometimes we, the voting public, must listen to the words and not get sucked into the emotional rapture.

In most cases, the incumbent president has an advantage because everyone has seen what has happened their years of governance. However, this president has created a greater gap between those in his base and those out of it. He attempts to create the illusion that all Democrats are part of some radical leftist conspiracy, but deep down inside he knows many rich Democrats. He used to be one.

All the excitement generated by a presidential run can be snuffed out in a New York minute. People are not strongly cemented to any one Democrat. They know Biden and, even with all his gaffs and misspeaking, he’s as comfortable as an old shoe. And at this point in American history, we simply need a president who relies on sharp experts and experienced aides more than his gut. Donald Trump isn’t at all smart about how to run a country. He’s made a ton of mistakes and the effects of his policy changes just might destroy the environment. No small thing.

Trump’s naiveté puts him in the position of needing to say who he thinks did the best job in the debates and what he hates about democrats. He can’t find it within himself to keep his mouth shut and let the process play out. His ego whispers into his frontal lobes, urging him to speak up and affect the numbers. What he doesn’t comprehend is pushing too hard on any one candidate might make their spotlight shine more brightly.

It’s sad that we haven’t found a better way to present ten or more candidates to the American public. Our flawed fake debate approach only eliminates people instead of producing and promoting a well-defined platform. Many newspapers the morning after the debate focused on conflict about healthcare. If the democratic candidates are still arguing about how healthcare can be fixed for the future, the party has a messaging problem that needs to be addressed.

Most people work for companies that provide healthcare insurance. The common man doesn’t get to pick the provider, the company does. The worker’s focus is how to navigate a system that appears to be working against them. Judging by the large deductibles and copays this whole matter is broken, but the Democratic party hasn’t come up with a platform specific solution.

The next debate will cull the herd a bit more, but it will be down to money and polls. What a country we live in! Democrats decry dirty money in politics but use contributions as an indication of success. I get polls. They allow us to judge who is getting attention on a national level. But that matters more to political fanatics and network news junkies compared to most of the middle-class who knows only some of the faces. They will forget about Andrew Yang’s money giveaway and Castro’s lame attack on Biden. In the end, it will come done to brand recognition and electing someone who can thank Donald Trump for what he didn’t ruin as the helicopter whisks him away from the White House in 2021. Anything less than that will be the destruction of America.

THE BOTCHED BOLTON BOOT

Just Another Neo-Con Job

Donald Trump doesn’t know how to hire the right people and he certainly doesn’t know how to fire them. But there is something much deeper here that escapes Trump’s ability to comprehend.

Trump is like P.T. Barnum, the circus man who truly believed one can hype their way into the hearts of the American public and fool them with illusions while taking their money. The world is more complicated than selling a ticket to the big top. In the end, most of the circus enterprises in America went broke because their owners couldn’t balance the cost of doing business with the activities of their competitors. Many circus companies have multiple names because eating each other up was the only way to survive. They ran up debt, exactly like Trump is doing with America.

John Bolton is just another Neo-Con with a convincing talent of combative rhetoric. In my book Gold, God, Guns & Goofballs, you will find a chapter titled The Three Legged Stool. It highlights the three forces that attempt to control our government — the Evangelicals, the rich owner class and the Neo-Cons. Some people fit into all three categories, but John Bolton is only a Neo-Con.

Dick Cheney and other Neo-Cons see nation building and regime changes as necessary methods of keeping the world safe and helping the US grow strong. Their mistakes have cost incredible amounts of blood in the streets and loss of treasures, but they are easily dismissed as a “greater good” the Neo-Cons believe they bring to world order.

It is no mystery that John Bolton deeply disagreed with Trump’s PR move to bring the Taliban to Camp David. It was also no surprise that one of the only Republicans to loudly voice disdain for this Trump folly was Liz Cheney, the daughter of Dick Cheney. You see, if anything, the Neo-Cons stick together.

Another Neo-Con is Lindsey Graham. On his web site he declared, “I have known John Bolton for many years and very much appreciate his service to our country in a variety of positions. John understands the world for what it is and the dangers that threaten America’s national security interests.” (I added the bolding.)

Deep down inside, Lindsey Graham knows that Donald Trump does not correctly see or understand the world. Graham, being a card-carrying member of the Neo-Con Club, was not about to put Bolton down because the Senator from South Carolina thinks and talks like Bolton.

The Donald doesn’t understand that right-winged white supremacists are not as powerful as the Neo-Cons in America. The Neo-Con, or New Conservative, movement was started by Jewish intellectuals in New York who believed the United States should do whatever it could to protect Israel. Trump gets that right, but what he fails to see is that Neo-Cons have no time for Nazis, the KKK or white supremacists. They feel only a need to protect the world from “evil doers.”

Not only did Trump dislike John Bolton’s outspokenness on many issues, he also figured out that Bolton was attempting to move into the “more important” position of Secretary of State. Trump hates people who are too aggressive. Bolton believed that Mike Pompeo, Trump’s boy, was looking for the exit ramp to run for Senator in his home state of Kansas.  Perhaps a miscalculation on his part, but in the end Trump needed someone he could spank for his stupid idea of doing a Taliban smores party at Camp David. Anyone other than Trump must always be blamed for something the press points out as asinine. I guess that is why we have a free press.

Bolton didn’t go quietly into the night. He quickly rebuked Trump, claiming he resigned and wasn’t fired. I’m not sure why that matters, but I do know that Trump never wants to be perceived as someone who has trouble working with people, even though the guy can’t work with anyone.

Over a hundred top people in Trump’s administration have been dismissed or resigned. As one of my favorite Trump loyalists said, “Well, at least he gets rid of the bad people.” WHAT? Those are all his people and he’s the reason they got into the White House. Once again, Trump claims he solved a problem that he created. What a douchebag.

I have never understood why civilian government appointees would be more militant and more eager to march into war than well-trained pentagon leaders. Who are these people who seek to use the military might of America as a political tool? Donald Trump would start a war if he thought it would guarantee his reelection.

This presidency will ultimately be seen as Trump declaring that EVERY DECISION he made was his decision. Those in position to give advice were only as valuable as the level of adulation they presented to his thin-skinned, narcissistic veneer. When an insecure person declares that they “took their own advice” on an important decision, we are in trouble. Who says that? The third person must hold more power than the person who is speaking. Now I am worried.

Trump is not the president for America today and he shouldn’t be the president tomorrow. As the world changes, it’s extremely clear that Trump will not change. He will never understand the world for what it is. He has damaged our standing and effectiveness on the planet. He is the biggest loser. Maybe his next reality TV show can be named Fat President Shrivels into Dust.

FREE FOOD FRIDAY

What’s More Fun Than Freedom?

Screw all of you goofball politicians, lying narcissists and half-baked barkers. You want to make the world a better place? Then put your money where my mouth is. There, I said it. Stop with all of your thinly veiled, bullshit proposals and do something remarkable.

I used to work for a New York software company. One of the problems facing any firm in that place is getting people to work on a Friday. So, the owners instituted what became known as Free Food Friday. Guess what? It worked! People showed up at the office and stood in line to get themselves fed. It made the company feel more like a family. Of course, when new bosses took over the first thing they did was eliminate that cost.

I hear some of the Democratic politicians saying they will figure out how to eliminate college debt and make higher-education FREE! I am sure that “free college” has a ring to it, but once Donald Trump gets his little sweaty hands on their idea he will slap the flimsy label of “socialism” on it, just as he does for anything that is “free.” Of course, all the mindless followers of the Orange Goddess of New York will get in line, lock step with the Führer.

Donald Trump and Boris Johnson are two guys who believe their shit doesn’t stink, but here in the grandstand we all can smell their putrid ideas. No one wants to live in a bad world, but what would make a better world? Short of a death by a thousand sharpies, how about buzz-haircuts for those two loathing assholes in power?

Let’s end the week on a bright note, with some proposals that just might move the world along a bit.

First, here’s a rather Darwinian suggestion of FREE TRADE. It Trump believes that America is so great, why does he insist on using the power of government to manipulate world markets? So far he’s created only chaos and uncertainty. How is that a good idea for anyone? Or is this just another move to put more money in his pocket?

We have soybeans. Why not sell them to the Chinese and forget about tariffs? Move the product. Make the money. Stop getting in the way of capitalism. Tariffs aren’t part of capitalism; they are the creation of protectionist fear mongers. Always have been. There isn’t much difference between a “trade war” and a real war. Sure, fewer people die but more people go broke in a trade war. How is that good for the world or our farmers?

Next, what about FREE FOOD and FREE MONEY? If each country was asked to contribute a certain percentage of their gross national product to a world hunger fund, we could feed all the starving people in the world. Look what happens when a natural disaster like a hurricane hits a place. Food gets delivered on planes. Ever wonder how that food gets there? Non-government organizations mobilize and deliver the much need supplies. Isn’t hunger a natural, human disaster? I can already hear Mr. Trump screaming about America First. Well fuck you Mr. empty suit with your face full of man tan. People are starving in America, so feed them first!

On the surface, the concept of FREE MONEY sounds communistic, but isn’t that what we do with our tax system? We take money from all the people, unfairly collected of course, and then we give that money back in the form of services and roads, etc. BUT if the people kept all their money, they surely wouldn’t just stash it in their mattresses; they would spend it. Let them have all the money they make and then watch their big smiles. Screw taxation. It’s had its chance and it’s not working. No one is getting rich except Donald Trump and Nancy Pelosi.

It’s not FREE COLLEGE that matters. It’s demanding that the educational system knows who should go to college and who should go right into training programs. Stop with this pie-in-the-sky idea that everyone will become a doctor or lawyer. Quit bribing universities to let your brain-dead offspring push someone who could really make a difference off the acceptance lists. If you have enough money to buy your way into a college, your kids don’t need that education anyway. Make education work by putting more money into the process.

We saw what a generation did with FREE LOVE. Well maybe a little more “free love” and a little less cable news would be the cure for what divides us. I never met a horny Republican who didn’t want the same thing that I wanted after a night of hard partying. Why are we letting Donald Trump fuck us? He’s a total loser who spends his time saying negative things while getting everything in his life for free.

Maybe in the end, the Donald will get FREE FOOD from one of our “higher” educational institutions. You know, those with names like, Allenwood, Leavenworth, Lompoc, or since he seems to hate California so much, maybe he could matriculate at Victorville. I’m willing to bet that being on a federally mandated diet of mushy food will help his ever-expanding waistline. The good news, Donald, is you will no longer have the evil free press to point out what a frail and miserable liar you are. Oh, you might get that occasional Dateline-type reporter coming to interview you about prison reform, and then you can go on and on about how unfairly you were treated. And you’ll be able to complain about how bad the food is and share the latest conspiracy theories from the white supremist gang in prison. You could even get a free tear tattoo on your cheek. Perhaps then we’ll all be able to rest knowing there is justice in America and we all are finally FREE of you.

DORIAN, DEDUCTIONS & DECEITFULNESS

Trump’s Incurable Appetite for Attention

Politicians tell us about all the wonderful things they are going to do for us, and they always fall short. This creates a distrust more sorrowful than any other industry in America. A special responsibility falls upon the leader of the free world, yet the current White House resident is aimlessly governing our nation without a plan or doctrine. Trump’s malfeasance and miscalculations in office are hurting our citizens. To warn people in Alabama about hurricane Dorian was a mindless example of his lack of preparation and accuracy. Alabama was not in the path of the storm, but Trump just wanted to add that to his tweet and press harangue.

It’s senseless for our idiot-in-chief to brag about a tax cut that clearly has been erased by his draconian trade war with China. If the tax cut gave the average person $800 a year, the tariffs on Chinese goods will cost each family $1000 and it could get worse. The Donald misunderstands the impact of tariffs on the America public. He sees a trade deficit as profit for another country, rather than the way economies match up when selling and trading goods across borders with different monetary systems. He keeps saying that China is paying for the tariffs, when in fact it’s the American importers and distributors of those products who are footing the bill. Of course, they then pass those tariffs along to consumers by raising the prices of the goods.

When politicians and presidents attempt to benefit themselves by changing the meaning of words to construct a false definition of what actually happened, we all lose. It goes far beyond a voting decision; it affects our very lives. The National Weather Service in Alabama had to post an official statement that Hurricane Dorian was NOT going to reach their state. This is why a president’s statements are so important during a disaster or military conflict. Sadly, we cannot trust that Trump will ever get it right.

There’s a certain explicit deceitfulness with Donald Trump. He really doesn’t care about lies. It’s a baked-in gene misalignment that defies all Christian guilt and guidance. The corruption of the evangelical elites gives him a vast reach of confidence and lawlessness that has never before been seen in any president. Trump is a con man.

The deduction of rights and protections under the Trump administration is just as much a problem as the lack of reasonable actions for economic progress. Donald Trump is planning to open large areas of public lands for mining, logging and pollution, lowering the measures to protect the environment from methane gases and drain off from factories into public waters. They are fighting with auto manufacturers about fuel efficiencies and lowering emissions. WHY? They make no effort to explain how their moves are GOOD FOR AMERICA, either before or after rolling back controls. Why would we ever want to go back to less efficient cars?

Dorian is not the last hurricane that will threaten this country and China is not the only player in the world that wants to sell their products to America. Trump has been so hyper focused on China that he doesn’t listen to the moderate trade voices who fully comprehend how much WE SELL TO OTHER COUNTRIES.

It seems that Donald Trump believes the United States of America is a monolithic entity, invincible to the ever changing supply and demand fluctuations around the world. When the US imposed tariffs on China’s steel and aluminum, they slapped tariffs on US soybeans which killed the market. Trump fails to see that once prices rise too high for soybeans and pork, a country like China will buy them from someone else. Once they get a taste of products from other places at a lower price, they may never come back to us.

Trump starts each day by getting attention, then after tweeting he talks to his people seeking encouragement and adulation. None of them feel compelled to offer another viewpoint or a different strategy. They already know what he wants before the meeting, so why fight his tweets? It’s a destructive recipe for failure.

The appetite for solving problems is simply not there. Trump is like an elephant suffering with a neurosyphilis brain leading to confusion and poor concentration. Eventually, this leads to depression or irritability causing further mistakes. A trade war becomes a real war with the power to destroy the world economy. We wish he would just go away so more logical minds could prevail, but we don’t have a quick remedy for this.

One of the things the Trump tax cut took away were many of the deductions that middle-class homeowners used to make their lives better. There is no one other than Trump to blame for the cost of living increases flowing from his insane trade war. Let’s not be fooled by his rhetoric and deceptions. He’s the problem, and more and more people in our country are figuring it out. The election cannot come fast enough. The winds of discontent are turning, and the damage of another Trump term will be permanent and extremely destructive. He must be stopped.

While GOD is there for many people as a spiritual enrichment and the provider of glowing feelings, the truth is just praying and believing will not change our major arc. We don’t determine who gets a GUN. We aren’t sure if we have paramilitary groups ready to storm the White House or a White Castle. There is no control of weapons. The GOOFBALLS with the power constantly try to manipulate us into spending more money on bombs and tanks and wars. When all of our institutions are infected with neglect and fall in disrepair, we will only have ourselves to blame. This book is not an antidote for the left or right, it’s an accelerant to move the middle off their collective asses to go do something positive for America.

POOR LITTLE DONNIE

The Martyr King of Queens

You know, I am getting sick of the routine. The act is sour. It’s the same old song of how America has been taken advantage of and the martyr in the White House will get even with everyone who doesn’t believe in him. Our President is not hitting the notes and more and more hard-working people are starting to question the original premise. There is no harmony in the land of the free.

Donald Trump believes there is some evil force against America and him. But here is where a perversion creeps in. North Korea and Russia are the good guys in his maniac reality, and long-term allies are somehow the enemy. The cooperative efforts to create a global economy has challenged the American worker and that’s what Trump exploited to get elected. In reality, his actions didn’t fix the problems. In fact, most of his moves have made things worse.

If America was in a bad financial place before the Donald became president, then how could he have made so much money? Oh, maybe that million-dollar paycheck he received from his father at age five helped a bit, but who convinced this guy he was somehow disadvantaged by our economic structure? The fact that he blames everyone who has come before is NOT a solution; it’s just a whinny little-boy excuse for being incapable of doing anything great.

Trump’s words reveal his narcissistic personality disorder, which is a mental condition in which a person has an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, pervasive troubled relationships and a lack of empathy for others. Every time I read that definition; Donald Trump’s face floats into my mind.

Another President Trump personality disorder is martyr complex, which is also called “victim complex.” This person enjoys and projects a martyr status for their own sake, seeking out personal persecution or suffering because it feeds either a psychological need or a desire to avoid responsibility. This avoidance of responsibility can be extremely dangerous when it comes to running a country. If our president doesn’t like you, you are ignored. Ask Puerto Rico. Watch him closely; the martyr always blames another.

Trump truly believes that everyone is out to get him, ignoring all logic, facts and science. He refuses to listen to experts and experienced government veterans because he knows better than everyone else. If you disagree with him, you are not just contrary, you are the enemy. He cannot stand anyone who sees things differently. The mistakes of zealots like John Bolton and Peter Navarro, who reverberate what Trump wants to hear, could destroy this country. Bolton is a lousy diplomat and Navarro is a phony economist.

Trump doesn’t realize that Kim-Jung Un has played him. While Kim expands his arsenal and nuclear capabilities, our president keeps talking about their great relationship. He’s blinded by the premise that making nice to bad guys is good and treating good guys like shit will get them to do what he wants. Allies will simply work around him and wait out the time until someone else becomes President. Reasonable people deal best with sensible humans. They cannot depend on anything Donald Trump says because he is a pathological liar.

Russian interference in our election is seen by Trump as a good thing. Shouldn’t that alone disqualify him for the office? He allegedly has told members of his team to build a wall and if that means breaking the law, no problem because he will pardon the lawbreakers. That’s obstruction of justice and grounds for impeachment, but Trump doesn’t care.

James Mattis laid out the truth in his recent op-ed. His experience with Donald Trump forced him to resign even though he believes that without a strong buffer Trump could do something to hurt the world order and weaken the security of America. There are some real problems here and when the good guys jump ship we should all be worried about who is left to navigate.

Can a rich kid from Queens fully comprehend the range of challenges and tasks of being the “leader of the free world?” Does the narcissistic personality disorder so distract this half-baked-dictator-wannabe that important aspects of government are not being accomplished? It’s clear the martyr complex drives Trump’s overly emotional approach to problem solving. While a hurricane was bearing down on Puerto Rico, Donald Trump was more interested in saying terrible things about the government there and berating the outspoken mayor of San Juan. How is that productive?

Trump’s choice to be a martyr rather than president of all citizens means we will never achieve greatness. Problems will go unsolved and life will become even worse for those negatively affected by the global economy. The trade war with China is the clearest example of getting even being more important than finding solutions. The man keeps talking about how much money the treasury is taking in rather than admitting that our farmers are being killed by the tariffs. Prices of many everyday items will soar just to win a perceived war. Trump ignores the facts, blames others for all the problems and leaves the very people who elected him holding the bag. And that bag is full of shit. Thanks, Donnie.

THE TAO OF THE DEAL

Xi Jinping versus DJT

Tao means a road, a path, a way in which one does something. It’s a method, doctrine, or principle which includes simplicity, patience, and compassion. The Chinese way of thinking is very different from our western mindset. They concentrate on the principles of yin and yang, signifying that that all things exist as indivisible and contradictory opposites that are in harmony with the natural order.

The Tao of dealing with China and Chinese people in governance and business is straightforward. They need to feel comfortable with you. More will be accomplished at a large meal with copious amounts of alcohol. They charge for everything and you are never sure if this is just local corruption or simply the way things are done. You either pay to open the office and play by their rules or you don’t get into the market. Surely Donald Trump has discovered that Chinese business dealings are different, but he doesn’t bring compassion or patience to the table… and he doesn’t drink spirits.

The American news media have been trying to interpret every word of every tweet in Trump’s trade war. His language has a great effect, and more and more people are becoming nervous about his bull in the china shop mentality. Keep your eyes on the health of the world economy. It appears that Trump is out to wreck it, but could he be right in the long run?

I wonder if The Donald understands that he’s not just bullying some local vendor. He’s going up against one of the largest economies in the world. Can he distinguish his enemies from his friends? He’s thrown out all the good advice sent his way and is navigating solely within his prejudges and conspiracies. His fatal flaw is a belief that a win for him means someone else must lose and hurt. Trump wants to pour salt into any wound he thinks he creates. This is not how Chinese people think.

There is a measure of truth within the Tao way. A man’s word carries weight and a lie is not to be taken with salt. As Lao Tzu said in the Tao Te Ching, “The truth is not always beautiful, nor beautiful words the truth.” Donald Trump brags that he has “the best words,” but his use of bullshit and lies is in direct conflict with ancient Chinese philosophy.

Trump is playing the stock market like a video game. He gets off on seeing his tweets turned into actions and responses from his fans and enemies. The President believes he can comment the market up and Wall Street has proven this to be true. If Trump says he’s ready to make a deal with China, the market goes up. When a few moments later he announces he won’t make a deal with China until the election is past, the market goes down. This is more than irresponsible.

Donald Trump reminds me of a third grader attempting to get the attention of his classmate by pulling her ponytail. He gets a scream but loses the bigger long-term deal. The reason he keeps talking about the stock market is simply to get camera time. When he feels like he’s losing, he says something outrageous and then sits back to watch the result of his bombast. If the press were really against him, like he claims, they would simply stop covering him.

The Chinese want to find a solution quietly and, as you can see, President Xi Jinping is hardly ever quoted. His silence drives Trump crazy. If our president really understood the Tao of the deal, he would know that silence is not lack of attention. But it’s too late to change Donald Trump. This person in the wheelhouse of our economic ship is a madman like Captain Bligh in Mutiny on the Bounty. Unfortunately, the rest of his crew are blind Republicans who couldn’t muster a revolt if their lives depended on it.

The Chinese will come to the table sooner or later, but their goal will have nothing to do with making Donald Trump look good or bad. They will focus on the principles. They have determined the natural order, not the whims of our orange fake-tanned President. They gather strength from their 3,000-plus years of history, understanding that the USA has not reached even 300 years. They know they hold the cards and, like a good poker player, they don’t gloat or show.

The Tao of the deal is simple. The Chinese hold much of our debt as a country. If China wanted to be a player in Trump’s game, they would call their loans. That would bring the US to its knees and destroy its economy. China won’t do that, however, because of the harm it would inflict on the world economy. The simplicity is not in winning but crafting a deal that brings a win-win to all involved. If only Trump, a self-proclaimed Christian, could comprehend that this “Godless communist country” is just as capitalistic as we are. The difference is how they manage their money.

China has 1.386 billion mouths to feed, while the United States has only 327.2 million people. Mao Zedong, the leader of the conversion to communism, lived in caves and ate insects during the revolution. Donald Trump’s only sacrifice in life was taking the silver spoon from his mouth to spout nonsense and conspiracies. He’s an empty blue suit with no real desire to learn about the ways people act and react.

The sooner we get rid of Donald Trump, the sooner we will get back to the natural order of things. If he had kept his mouth shut, the economy would have gotten him reelected. Now, smart money is seeing the weakness in his inflexibility and lack of knowledge. He’s simply the wrong guy to run the economy.

POLITICAL APPETITE

Two Words Say It All

I used to think people were superficial if they used short phrases and clichés to communicate. But then I observed that some people use common metaphors, analogies and word economy to share their thoughts. It’s not wrong, but in the spirit of words mattering we can detect true feelings and deeper attitudes by examining the words people use.

When Donald Trump was confronted by reporters before he left for Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas, he was asked if he would support a ban on assault weapons. He quickly replied that he could see an appetite for “red flag” laws, but that there wasn’t a “political appetite” for banning assault weapons. And there, with those two words, President Trump revealed his true governing driver. He’s not making decisions or advancing legislation based on what is good for America, he’s concerned only with the appetites of those fat white men who support him in Congress. It’s all about guaranteeing adulation, rather than protecting the nation from the next mass shooting.

Trump has already heard from the National Rifle Association and they have “warned him” about going forward with any improvement to background checks. And as we have pointed out on these pages in the past, the NRA spent more than $30 million to help elect Trump; they control the President. The Donald is nothing more than a dancing puppet on the strings of a lobbying group. He’s totally in their pocket. How can this man ever promote reasonable gun control when he kowtows to every desire of the NRA? Just as the NRA is complicit in the deaths of citizens of the USA, Donald J. Trump has blood on his hands because of his inaction and inability to lead.

What Trump admitted on the White House lawn is that he doesn’t have the power, ability or desire to affect that political appetite. He struts about in his ill-fitting blue suits and unreasonably long red ties while doing nothing. He’s worse than a drunk uncle because he has the power to ruin the lives of 330 million people.

While Trump was going to Dayton and El Paso, ICE was rounding up 700 undocumented food processing plant workers in Mississippi. Many children weren’t picked up by their parents after the first day of school because mom, dad or both were in detention centers. No one needs to ask if Trump is a racist. It’s clear that he has a sick singular hatred of Hispanics. And why the disregard for children?

Who else would carry out such a destructive action, while claiming he was going to the sites of mass shootings to comfort the wounded and families of the dead? It was just another photo op, no different than shaking the hand of a known murderer and tyrant in North Korea. Donald Trump has no soul. He’s an immoral man with nothing but his money and fame.

This just in folks, from the Washington Post: “None of the eight victims of the El Paso mass shooting still being treated at University Medical Center agreed to meet with President Trump when he visited on Wednesday, the hospital’s spokesman said.” Clearly, the President was attempting to use these poor people as political pawns in a sick game of imaginary empathy. What piece of shit person would do this to anyone suffering so deeply? The hospital protected their patients, and that is how it should be.

Trump must truly believe that most people in the US are so stupid they won’t see through his lies and ruses. It’s not political anymore. It’s not a party thing. It’s human worth, spiritual unity and basic human values that are being attacked.

I know that presidential events must be crafted to make the leader of the free world look good. I get that. But when Trump claims that his rhetoric brings people together, and then blasts political rivals, maybe Representative Tim Ryan is right. Trump could be losing his grasp on reality and his mental acuity.

The shooting didn’t happen in Toledo; it was Dayton. The teleprompter showed Texas and Ohio. What else has Trump gotten wrong? Perhaps he has misread the America people. Not everyone treated the President like a “rock star” in Dayton and El Paso, despite the tweets of the White House communication people. These sycophants will have their day in court, or perhaps at the pearly gates, depending on what God they believe in.

If you kill my farm business with reckless tariffs, separate children from their parents and fire up an evil white supremist who then shoots people in this country, how can we possibly count on you to represent America on the world stage? I can truly say that Trump will never be able to heal the country, unite the people or ever be respected by this American. He’s just another puss filled blemish on the face of American politics.

MESSAGE TO REPUBLICANS

Take the Money and Run

Math has always been a secondary reality for me, but I have managed to make and spend a lot of money in my life. I am like many in our country. I carry a little more debt than I should, but hey, why not live a comfortable lifestyle? When my kids wanted something, I usually found a way, and now that they are having kids, I expect them to make sure their children are neatly clothed, properly nourished and unconditionally loved. That brings me to Donald Trump.

I woke up this morning to this headline on the CNBC Financial Network: Trump’s tariffs cost US businesses $3.4 billion in June. Because the current liar-in-chief sits in the Oval Office, his misdirection is far beyond a game. Trump is going to damage the core American business model. True Republicans know free markets and they understand that controlling spending by balancing budgets make sense, but currently there are NO REAL REPUBLICANS. They are just Trump lemmings following him over the cliff. Not to pour salt into Republican wounds, but the People’s Bank of China said this, “The Chinese side advises the U.S. to leap over the cliffs and return to the correct track of rationality.”

There is a theme here and Republicans should cut ties with the maniac in the White House who listens to no one and, like a snapping turtle, stays clenched and hyper focused solely on what he wants, even when it hurts hard-working Americans. Most experts warned Donald Trump that his theory on how to change world economics was flawed and thought he demonstrated a lack of knowledge on how global markets work. This has now been proven, much to the chagrin of those who know better.

The best thing Senator Leader Mitch McConnell can do is call his chamber back to work right now to address several important issues. Not only is there a genuine need to pass reasonable gun control measures but having the Senate in town to talk to Trump about what the Trade War is doing would be productive. Someone needs to massage some patience and reasoned strategy into his thick skull. The 1% has made enough money and the tax cuts were mostly used for stock buybacks, not wage increases. According to AP, “Companies in the S&P 500 spent $806 billion on stock buybacks in 2018, blowing away the previous record of nearly $590 billion set in 2007.” Maybe the Republicans should sell all their stocks and begin buying real estate. In short, they should take the money and run. Their party is about to end.

Trump supporters in Congress should reevaluate Trump and his destructive policies. Everyone wants America to do well, and part of that is the stock market. However, the middle class of this country is focused on paying for housing, diapers, backpacks and waffles. As prices soar to pay for Trump’s vindictive trade fiasco, all the benefits of the tax cuts have been eroded by an overzealous demigod.

Why have we put our faith and economy in the hands of a man who has taken countless companies and enterprises into bankruptcy? Why did millions of Americans believe Trump would make things better? Are we all that stupid? Why can’t we hear the truth when it hits us in our heads? I remember when the stock market was crashing in 2008 and Senator John McCain said that he believed the fundamentals of the economy were “strong.” As pensions were drying up and 401Ks were imploding, McCain showed his misunderstanding of the market and economics. Between that and Sarah Palin, McCain sunk his chances to be president.

By electing Trump, the Republicans have forced themselves to the edge of a cliff based on his lack of knowledge about global economics. Trump has always been against globalization, but that never stopped him from taking his own brands around the world. Assuming for a second that Trump actually knows what he’s doing, that would mean that all he does is meant to create hate toward countries and people in order to get elected. Wow, how shallow and immoral. Just to put a bow on this bag of shit, most of the Trump MAGA hats are made in China.

The Donald keeps talking about how bad things are in China, which begs the question why is that good for the world? He claims that companies are returning their bases to America, but why would they? With uncertainty and tariffs, is it wise to move an operation to a country without a firm economic foundation?

When will a Republican knowledgeable about economics and global supply stand up and state, in clear language, that the current tactics with China will ripple through the world and perhaps cause a global recession? No one wants to be negative, but without some sense of realism in the Oval Office, we are putting all our chickens in one basket. And one person controls that basket. WHY?
