THE STATE OF THE UNION

What You See, Is What Trump Is

The hype by the cable news networks about the first State of the Union speech by the 45th President of the United States only proved that even after dressing Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper in formal wear, it was just another night in the swamp. Donald Trump didn’t give the American people some new vision of truth. He simply pushed his artificially tanned face into the cameras and did the same meaningless show he’s been doing for the last two years.

First, he demonized all immigrants… again. His DNA requires him to link immigrants with crime, because he mistakenly believes fear of them magically brings Americans together. The Donald thinks that by reminding us of someone’s pain, he gains power over the base and gets a free pass to waste money on the war against “others.” He is a careless  person, squandering one hour and twenty-minutes of our time with a weak State of the Union address he could have mailed in.

He said the words, “Americans are dreamers, too,” which, on the surface, appeared to equate citizens with DACA kids, but he failed to connect the dots in any meaningful way. If anything, those who hate Trump will say it was a passive-aggressive way to say something like, “All Lives Matter” like a racist’s shield against “Black Lives Matter.” Where does this guy get his words? They seem to be pulled from some dark, tight place that gives them the pungent smell of hypocrisy and a faint odor of bullshit.

The irony of Trump standing before the Congress and the nation at large touting the wonderful gains in the stock market in terms of how much wealth we’ve gained doesn’t mean anything to those having no skin in the game. A game which, ironically, lost 533 points in the two days leading up to the speech. Obviously, Trump has nothing to do with the stock market, or he would have prevented them downward slide from happening the day before he gave his big speech.

I’m not sure if Trump has six more of these speeches in him. Those who dislike him the most are hoping to hear no more than a couple. Most people don’t know that his duty is required by the U.S. Constitution. Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution requires the President to periodically “give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union and recommend to their such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.” We aren’t sure why it happens every year, but there is value in knowing what the top guy thinks.

Earlier in the day, the White House taunted that something remarkable would be revealed about North Korea in the SOTU, but that was probably a weak attempt to give the press something to mention other than the diving stock numbers. Of course, the talking heads on cable fell for it and started to talk about it. In the end, there was NO NEW NEWS about North Korea and no mention of the consuming smoke surrounding the Russia investigation which is ready to burst into flames right before our eyes. There was not even a whiff of the sanctions deadline the White House once again allowed to come and go, with Trump giving his buddy Putin another pass. Without pain, how do you keep the bear from smashing your face with cyberwarfare? Sanctions. Let’s all say it again class, Sanctions.

And of course, we must mention the fashion show on parade at the joint session of Congress. The First Lady was wearing a white Christian Dior suit, with the emphasis on the “Christian” part. Some fashionistas connected its whiteness to the woman’s suffragist movement. This appeared to some cynics as a statement of opposition toward the Democrat women, who were acknowledging the #MeToo movement by wearing black. In contrast, the First Daughter wore an Oscar De Le Renta asymmetrical plaid dress, which attempted to depict the many directions and opinions the favorite daughter seems to hold. For someone who has been surgegically altered to elminate any asymetric areas of her body, there was some rich irony in her Scottish peasant girl look.

We didn’t see the First Porn Star at the State of the Union, but then, we aren’t sure if she was the first, or the second or just a member of the Trump gratification team. But we would assume that if she would come to the Capitol she would have worn RED — bright red, scarlet red.

Trump on the other hand, continued leaning BLUE with his tie. Maybe he thinks that makes him appear more presidential or thinner. I cannot believe that this highly critical blogger is writing about what the fuck people wore at the State of the Union address. Have I gone mad? How do I get myself back to my normally stable genius state?

Oh yeah, our great Orange Leader, once again, was nothing but a B actor on the biggest American stage turning in another mediocre performance. I admit that I fell asleep twenty-minutes into the show. He was not at all presidential or even interesting. He’s a fake, through and through, and his stale rhetoric is, at best, redundant. Even his manipulative moves are boring me. I wait for the third act of this fatuous play, where the G-men come on stage and put him in handcuffs and all the CNN guys cover the perp-walk wearing Giorgio Armani tuxedoes. Hey, maybe they’ll bring back Kathy Griffin for comic relief. Yeah, now that’s a ticket I would buy!

Bannon, Books & Belligerence

Trump’s Mistakes Magnified Again

Donald Trump hired Steve Bannon because he is like Trump. They are both political and ideological whores. And if you’re a little left leaning, you could also classify both as capitalistic pigs. Let’s face it, they love money and power.

With the media blitz for the new Michael Wolff book called Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House came real shock and awe from the White House. Clearly some of the quotes, especially from Steve Bannon, Trump’s former adviser and, lest we forget, the Chairman CEO of the Trump Campaign for President, have so angered this President that yesterday, he spent most of his time haranguing on the book rather than doing his job we pay him to do.

Not only does Bannon accuse Donald Trump Jr. of treason, but Bannon was probably the person who brought the wolf into the hen house. Some say that Bannon determined who the author would interview. Bannon spent time in Hollywood and Mr. Wolff once worked for the Hollywood Reporter. We can assume there is a previous relationship.

Once again, we see the naiveite of the Donald in believing that someone like Michael Wolff would do a powderpuff piece to make Trump & Company look glamorous and good. You don’t sell books that way. This book is bound to sell tons because it gives 65% of the people in America what they want, more evidence of what they already believe; that Trump is not qualified to be President and other charges will likely be piled on as the bandwagon marches toward impeachment.

It may be fun for TV pundits to exploit this book for talking points, but there are some truly damaging things in the book. Bannon’s speculation that Mueller’s team is considering money laundering by the Trump boys, including son-in-law Kushner, may be based on some real knowledge of what Trump had done before running for President. Could Bannon and Wolff be forecasting Mueller’s charges against the leader of the free world?

Or, are the comments by Bannon just his way of messing with Kushner and his wife, the president’s daughter, and getting back at them? The pet name, “Jarvanka,” certainly contains a bit of contempt for them and, from my viewpoint, probably deep-seated anti-Semitism. But it’s hard to know what is inside Steve’s two lobes, you know there are good people on either side.

What I take away from the comments released so far is that Bannon is thinking about running for president, Jared and Ivanka are thinking about running for president and that the real Donald Trump didn’t think he would win. As much as people push back on all this from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the excerpts do seem to be hitting a nerve. Most shrinks will tell you that your reaction to someone else just might show you more about what you think of yourself than what you think of them. Over reaction to the truth is always more than just pointing out a lie.

The Great Orange Leader’s statement attacks Bannon:

“Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind. Steve is learning that winning isn’t as easy as I make it look. Steve had very little to do with our historic victory. Steve pretends to be at war with the media, which he calls the opposition party, yet he spent his time at the White House leaking false information to the media to make himself seem far more important than he was. It is the only thing he does well. Steve was rarely in a one-on-one meeting with me and only pretends to have had influence to fool a few people with no access and no clue, whom he helped write phony books.”

First, Trump’s remarkable and unseemly knee-jerk reaction is to lie to solve any problem, and that always makes things worse. Bannon convinced him to stay in the race after the Access Hollywood tape was released and, for all intents and purposes, Bannon was his wing-man. Why try to make him a “coffee boy?” Everyone in America knows Bannon was the strategist. But Trump won’t stop there, fighting negative press is what he was born to do.

We are already seeing an all-out attack on Bannon, the book and its author, even before this book hits the stores. Trump attorney Charles J. Harder released this statement, “On behalf of our clients, legal notice was issued today to Stephen K. Bannon, that his actions of communicating with author Michael Wolff regarding an upcoming book give rise to numerous legal claims including defamation by libel and slander, and breach of his written confidentiality and non-disparagement agreement with our clients. Legal action is imminent.

As Trump has warned before, if you cross him, you will get attacked. And he uses his legal team to do his dirty work. It must have worked, because Bannon offered this statement this morning on the Breitbart Sirius XM channel (1-4-2018), “The president of the United States is a great man. You know I support him, day in and day out, whether going through the country giving the Trump miracle speech or on the show or on the website.” See, Bannon loves money and he doesn’t want to have to pay lawyers to get him out of this one.

But it doesn’t stop there. This just in, Trump’s personal lawyers sent a cease-and-desist letter to Wolff and his publisher, Henry Holt, demanding that the publisher “cease and desist from any further publication, release or dissemination” of the book “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.” THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES JUST TOOK A PISS ON THE FIRST ADMENDMENT AND THE CONSTITUTION. All caps demanding your damn attention.

There is no way that the publishing company, Henry Holt, will not proceed with the release of the book. After all, it has already become a best seller. The majority of what has been disclosed in this book must be true because Trump and his murder of lawyers have set up a battle line in the sand. And if they do go to court, get ready. Each of the people quoted in the book will be called to testify, including Bannon and maybe the President himself. Then, we will see them all crack like eggs under cross-examination.

What started out as a mistake election has turned into a circus and now, with a little exposure, it is only getting worse. It’s not Bannon or a book. It’s the belligerence and maladroitness of the moron in the White House that is the real crime. God save the nation.

QUITERS AND LOSERS

Trump’s Polluted Swamp

What is happening in Washington, DC? With Senators Flake and Corker leaving their offices at the end of this term, they are liberated and able to say what they really think about Donald J. Trump. And what they are saying is the same thing we have been saying here from the beginning of this terrible presidency. But they both stop short of using the “I” word. Why?

When someone declares a leader unfit for office, one would think that they would use any legal method to correct that mistake. But in the world of politics, you cannot accuse someone of being dangerous to democracy and call for his impeachment. Why? Because they are still in the Senate. To use the term, impeachment, you have to back it up.

When you use polite, well-written prose, as Jeff Flake did yesterday (10-24-2017), your words will never be heard by the people you need to convince. The conservative Republicans have bought into this president, partly because they think they can use him to slam through their agenda. That is a fallacy, as they have already realized, but they cannot turn against Trump because of a good-old-boy pledge to party above country.

Donald Trump is not on the same page as the Republican party leaders. If anyone crosses him in any way, he goes after the person without a regard for any possible damage it might do to the Republican brand. Some are so wounded they decide not to run for reelection.  What happened to local politics? What happened to political parties? What is happening to America?

That old adage, “you are either with me, or against me” seems to have been created in Washington and has now seeped into the body politic of a nation. The division between citizens in this nation is one of the worst by-products of the Trump presidency.

I was speaking with a gentleman about the NFL controversy and I used the term “Black Lives Matter.”  He replied, “That’s a false narrative.” I asked, “Is it?” He immediately knew which side I was on and backed off. If you are programmed what to say, you never have to think about what you are saying. Most Republican Trump supporters just mimic what the President or the talking heads plant in their heads. Brainwashed and hung out to dry.

Let’s look at the past ten days. The President of the United States failed to respond to four soldiers being killed in Africa. The press brought it to his attention and asked why he didn’t mention the tragedy. So, Trump made the calls and got caught in bad form and lies, which then dominated the media.

When placing a similar call back in June to Chris Baldridge, the father of a fallen solider, the President learned of Mr. Baldridge’s frustration that his son’s ex-wife would receive a $100,000 death gratuity from the Pentagon, while he would receive nothing. Trump offered to cut him a $25,000 check, which he “forgot about” until the press brought it to his attention. The check was finally mailed, but was dated 10-18-2017.

It was the most glaring example of who Trump really is. Trump related to the sad father’s complaint about an ex-wife and offered a payment of $25,000. The White House was open and upfront about the check mistake, because it made the Donald look good. Will the President be cutting checks for all the soldiers’ fathers?

After speaking with the wife Sgt. La David Johnson, Donald Trump claimed he spoke the serviceman’s name “from the beginning” of the conversation, contradicting his widow’s account of the call. I guess giving your life for your country doesn’t buy you respect. Could it be that Trump can relate only to fathers?  Maybe he has a problem communicating with women, especially black women.

This “exclusionary stance” creates a fear-threat component that Trump exploits, which then explodes on the front pages of the newspapers. The words of Donald Trump hold more weight than anyone else’s, and his base then creates a mob mentality which can take down politicians who challenge him.

If the truth be told, Bob Corker and Jeff Flake are not running next year because they know they will be tormented by Trump, brutalized by Bannon and castrated by their own constituents. People on the far right will dismiss anyone who says anything critical about our great Orange Leader. Where is the counter propaganda to this seething idiot?

You cannot say the buck stops here, and then quit. You cannot say you care about the country and then say that you don’t want impeachment. We are the real losers in this scenario. The Koch brothers and Bannon will just line up the people who will do what THEY WANT, and they will pour millions into getting them elected.

In the end, the swamp won’t be drained but simply restocked with a bunch of ideologs who believe America is better without regulations, diversity and constitutional law. The revolution will be televised and those visuals will be bought by those with the most money. It’s a sad day in America when party-shaming keeps honest people from saying what they really feel.

SECRETS, RIDDLES AND LIES

Trump’s Russian Roulette

There is a great word that helps us understand the current President. It’s publicity: the notice or attention given to someone or something by the media. It also has a second meaning, the giving out of information about a product, person, or company for advertising or promotional purposes.

With all the complaints about leaks from somewhere inside the White House, Donald Trump just may be the leaker himself. He loves to talk and brag and when no one else is in the room, how do we know what he is saying on the phone to the hundreds of people he talks to in any given week?

The Russia story is a saga because Trump and his surrogates have never been able to say the right things. Their push-back only exacerbates the matter. Donald Trump did business with Russians, that is a fact. Just look up the company Bayrock with which Trump was involved in SoHo and Florida.

According to USA Today, Trump addressed potential investors in Moscow and bragged to Real Estate Weekly about his access to Russia’s rich and powerful, “I have a great relationship with many Russians.”

Also, Donald Trump, Jr. went on the record in September of 2008 by saying, “In terms of high-end product influx into the United States, Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets; say in Dubai, and certainly with our project in SoHo and anywhere in New York. We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”

According to Bloomberg News, “One of Bayrock’s principals was a career criminal named Felix Sater who had ties to Russian and American organized crime groups. Before linking up with the company and with Trump, he had worked as a mob informant for the U.S. government, fled to Moscow to avoid criminal charges while boasting of his KGB and Kremlin contacts there, and had gone to prison for slashing apart another man’s face with a broken cocktail glass.”

The first secret isn’t so much a riddle, but an out-and-out lie on Donald Trump’s part about involvement with Russians. Why Congress hasn’t demanded total disclosure of the President’s financial entanglements is a riddle that can only be solved by the old maxim, “winning is all that matters.”

The President of the United States is playing Russian Roulette, the practice of loading a bullet into one chamber of a revolver, spinning the cylinder, and then pulling the trigger while pointing the gun at one’s own head. He can say that this story is a “hoax” and part of “fake news” but deep down inside Trump must have some guilt about his involvement with the Russians.

John Harris, the Co-Founder and Editor-In-Chief of Politico, was on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show (6-21-2017).  He made an extremely cogent point about the Trump Era by saying this is one of the most transparent White Houses he’s covered.

Harris added, “It’s the most secretive and transparent administrations.” He made the observation that the President is so obsessed with press coverage, many of the staffers, immersed by infighting, can only get their message to their boss by leaking. They are aware of his lack of openness and cannot find any other way to deal with his isolation as a leader. So, I guess he’s inaccessible and a poor listener.

One of the sad things about this administration is its need to hold political rallies to keep a fist-grip on the base and to extract funds from the middle-class to pay for his ego massages. Donald Trump has created nothing short of a cult who really believe his lies and listen to his harsh rhetoric as something pure and patriotic. He insults them with, “I’d rather have a rich person than a poor person running the economy.” (6-21-2017) I assume he means that poor people aren’t smart enough to make economic decisions because they are poor. Sad!

With each bold-orange-faced lie we learn more and more about the American populace and how far one man can abuse power and obstruct justice. The insults are free. Trump has business dealings with Russians and he has been lying about this from the start. The bullet in the chamber is Michael Flynn. Will Flynn bring the President to his knees?

NOT ALL TWEETS ARE EQUAL

Trump’s Newspeak Man: Jay Sekulow

In the brilliant classic 1984, a book by George Orwell, the term “newspeak” was introduced. This noun is defined as ambiguous euphemistic language used chiefly in political propaganda. The Wikipedia page on it says: Newspeak is a controlled language, of restricted grammar and limited vocabulary, a linguistic design meant to limit the freedom of thought—personal identity, self-expression, free will—that ideologically threatens the régime of Big Brother.

While there are those in the Trump administration who hold a belief in some “deep state” that is controlling everything, there are those Americans who believe that if our President was given more power he would become Big Brother.

It is a fact that Steve Bannon, Trump’s right brain, declared his desire to destroy the “Administrative State”, whatever that is. But now we have a new dance partner in this affair. His name is Jay Sekulow and his job is that of personal lawyer for Donald Trump. Good luck, Jay.

While the multiple personalities in Trump’s head appear then disappear, it will be Sekulow’s responsibility to explain and defend the Donald. His role is already off to a rocky start with the tweet that was heard around the world.

Jay Sekulow went on all the Sunday morning talk shows to say to make it “crystal clear” that the President is not, and has never been, under investigation. And the attorney attempted to dismiss the tweet in which the President actually says he is under investigation. Jay also said that the tweet was only acknowledging the Washington Post article. Huh?

In the tweet, Trump didn’t use a question mark.  He used an exclamation mark, which meant he wasn’t questioning the Washington Post story.  He was saying exactly what he wrote. The lame claim by Sekulow that his client was limited by 140 characters is complete BS. Anyone familiar with how Twitter works, including Trump, can create a short string of words to add more meaning. In fact, the candidate and President has many times done precisely that.

If Trump doesn’t know the facts then why are his lawyers saying he does know. How can he not be under investigation? You can’t declare a known when you’ve never been told what it is either way. I could say Donald Trump is a woman, but I have no proof he’s a man or a woman. I just know that he says he’s a man.

The best question on the issue came from Chris Cuomo on CNN (6-19-2017) when he confronted Sekulow with the simple question: You are his attorney of record, why not just pick up the phone and ask Robert Mueller if your client is under investigation? Chris, who has a law degree from Fordham University, asked the right question, a question that all those talking heads on TV who would preface their comments with, “I’m not an attorney but…” but never knew to ask.

Trump and his legal team have a right to ask that question and no prosecutor has to tell a citizen if they are under investigation, but it would be proper for an attorney to, at least, ask the question.

One of my friends over the weekend claimed I was being “hysterical” about all of this political stuff, which seems to be the new go-to word when trying to explain why people forcefully disagree with something. I told my friend, I just want to make sure when the smoke clears, and we really understand all this, that I can be counted with those who spoke out against a President who is wasting time, acting guilty and becoming so untrusted in the world.  Surely our country will suffer.

Newspeak, with its linguistic design meant to limit the freedom of thought, is what Donald Trump is all about. His lawyers will try to bend the meaning of his words by saying things like, “Oh, he is very good at using social media.” Perhaps, but he’s an abysmal writer. If someone else has to explain what his Tweets mean, then he didn’t write them very well.

When a surrogate then says, “The Tweets stand on their own,” then we must take them at face value. But you cannot Newspeak your way around this. The worst thing Trump does is using Twitter as his psychological vomiting tool. He should invest in a shrink who can come by at 3:30 AM to help him over these emotional mole hills.

If I was his shrink, my first question would be, “Why do you obsess about whether or not you are under investigation?” That comes with the job description. Now you know, Mr. Trump, how Obama felt when every action he made was questioned with a law suit or an investigation of congressional blockade. You wanted the job and you go it. Now, do your job and stop bitching!

CUBAN MISSIVE CRISIS

Trump Turns Back the Clock to 1960

Donald Trump wants to do a better deal with Cuba. What he really doesn’t understand is that Cuba will get a better deal from someone named Vladimir Putin. The same Mr. Putin who used similar language saying he would protect Russians in Ukraine without any respect for their sovereign state. And now, with Donald Trump slapping the sanctions back on Cuba, he has opened the door for Russia to come back into Cuba with gifts and money.

His denunciation of Cuban policies (6-16-2017) in Florida might have fired up the large community of anti-Castro Cuban-Americans in Miami, but didn’t match his actions. It’s a selective sucker punch against the current regime in Havana, but after sixty-years of blockades, sanctions and containment by America, Raúl Castro is already on the phone to Moscow.

Trump used words like maintaining blockades and sanctions and canceling the policy, but in reality, he only modified the Obama executive order. The new order from Trump might block US citizens and companies from doing business with establishments that are controlled by the Cuban military, but it doesn’t stop Americans from going to Cuba. It just adds red tape and more bureaucracy. His rhetoric of making things easier to do and ending unnecessary regulations has been thrown out of the window on this one.

The speech in little Havana in South Florida was full of stories about the struggles that Cubans and Cuban-Americans have endured since Fidel Castro converted the island to communism. The real changes that Trump claimed his new approach will deliver sound more like an attempt to dictate the terms of how Cuba will be governed, a la “nation building.”

Sure, asking them to have elections sounds like a good idea. They must already think it’s a good idea. Elections in Cuba involve nomination of municipal candidates by voters in nomination assemblies, nomination of provincial and national candidates by candidacy commissions, voting by secret ballot, and recall elections. But then, Trump speech writers probably don’t know that.

Donald Trump’s declarations of the human rights violations in Cuban might sound righteous on the surface, but not once did Trump cover the human rights and cruel and unusual punishments of his hosts in Saudi Arabia. And lost in this whole reality is that our government is still holding people without charges or due process at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, right on Cuban soil. As they say, this man speaks with forked-tongue.

Is this is his way of thanking Cuban Americans for their votes and keeping a campaign promise, while creating another opportunity to say something bad about Obama? Why do I find his actions feel like a way to fulfill rather than a introduce a well-thought-out way to change the way we deal with a country.

Trump may have sent a strong missive to other nations who abuse their people, but if America could help the Cuban people with tourism and more American influences, they just might take things into their own hands. We don’t need another Bay of Pigs invasion, but certainly tourism is better than isolation.

Due to the lack of free speech in Cuba, Trump’s harangue will not be heard by Cubans, but the stifling of the tourism industry will surely hurt Cuban workers. Of course, it’s easier to justify communism when things are going badly, but Trump gets to check a promise off the Bannon list.

The question that one should ask now, if you didn’t cut off diplomatic relations with Cuba, why not appoint an ambassador and start talk about a better deal? Or does Trump feel like he’s finished with it?

The lady doth protest too much, methinks!

The Inner Voice of Lunatic

REPOSTED FROM FEB 22, 2017

Most political and marketing experts’ analysis of the presidential election of 2016 showed that Twitter played a major role. And there is no question that social media is a double-edged sword.

It cuts one way when instantaneous reactions and pronouncements are transmitted to a wide number of fans and opponents. Trump has more than 25 million followers and has dumped 34.5 thousand 144-character bundles of wisdom our way. That may seem like a lot, but Kim Kardashian West, Kanye’s wife, has 50.2 million followers.

Like a teenage girl, Mr. Trump must psychologically vomit once a day. He pays a price for his uncensored use of a non-secure consumer phone and exposes his lack of depth and any real desire to ‘bring us all together.’

In this most recent tweet, Trump is deflecting once again, but there is some truth in what he is saying. He just doesn’t see what’s really happening.

Let’s look at this missive. Trump is limited in his mastery of the English language and uses repetition rather than significant revelation to reveal his inner voice. Catch his use of “so-called” which is his code for “Not Legit”; as in “so-called” judges. He could have used that against Obama with a quick slap: “so-called American.”

He uses the word “some” as if he isn’t sure of the facts. He peppers it into his speech like, “some of them are good people, I guess.” Or as I might say, “some of the things you say Mr. President, simply aren’t true.”

He says, “in numerous cases” giving him plausible deniability for later, when someone accuses him of painting with too broad a brush. But the one phrase that is absolutely true is the line, “…planned out by liberal activists.” Yes, can you believe the opposition to your policies have a plan? Planning is good idea, wink, wink.

If he looked a little deeper, or had someone in the White House who wasn’t filling his belly with expense Beluga caviar he would see what those liberals are doing. They use this web site called Twitter to spread the word and organize these protests. They are simply using the other side of the knife against you. Many phones against one.

Time to quote Newton’s third law here: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. For every Tweet, you push through your illegal phone Mr. President, there will be an opposite reaction and it will continue until you finally grow up and go back to posing as a successful business person.

And finally, Mr. Trump, for the good of the nation, would you please seek psychiatric help from a medical professional. The number of times you have declared your sadness in these legal documents called Tweets is alarming. It’s downright Sad!

THE SERIOUSNESS OF IT ALL

The Day I Finally Figured Out Trump

Today, Flag Day 2017, gun shots rang out on a baseball field in Virginia. The GOP baseball team was practicing for their annual charity game with the Democrats. Both parties take this event extraordinarily seriously; to the point of practicing in early mornings weeks leading up to the event.

I’ve often said that I am not very smart. I don’t mean that in some self-deprecating way, I truly don’t understand people. How I have been able to understand things at times is by converting the abstracts of life into pictures. My emotions are tied to visuals of every kind. My father was born on Flag Day, so when I see the flags on the streets of our great nation I think of my father. He used to joke, “Hey, look, everyone is celebrating my birthday. They’ve put their flags out.”

When I learned of a man shooting members of the GOP baseball team during their practice today I had a sick feeling. Not just because it was an act of violence but, that as we later learned, there probably was a political motive to the shooting.

For me to understand how politics work I draw a circle. At the top of the circle, say 12 o’clock, exists a place I call the middle, or the moderate, position. Then I can move to the right or the left on that circle. When I get so far down, say around 6 o’clock, it’s hard to distinguish the far right from the far left. They galvanize into this exposed nerve ending. The far right, Alt-Right or white supremacists, look similar to the far left, Patriot fighters, anarchists and Marxist revolutionaries.

On Fox News, Newt Gingrich, a political financial exploitation artist, talked about the meaning of the shootings. He said, “It’s part of a pattern. You’ve had an increasing intensity of hostility on the left.” Maybe you see only the intense increase of the left, Mr. Gingrich, but there has been an increase intensity on both sides and the reason is Donald Trump. You either own that and take your rewards from dirty dark political money, or stop your intellectual charade.

Trump opened a can of worms and no one wants to eat worms. No matter how you serve it up, someone, somewhere, has to stand up and say, TRUMP put the worms in the can. And here is how he started it.

It began with his message against political correctness. People got the message. It was banged on TV for weeks and weeks. It’s okay to say what you want. So, when we had violent rallies the emotional band aids were ripped off and people screamed. They screamed at the Bernie rallies, they screamed at the Donald rallies. The moderate people, like Hillary Clinton, bounced between 11 o’clock, to lure some Bernie voters, and 1 o’clock, to buffer some of the Trump nuts.  But Hilary’s moves didn’t matter.  The distrust that was sown over the years by critics and the campaign bombardment of hateful fake news and mistruths on social media created a myth too big for Clinton to overcome in the Electoral College.

Trump was louder than Bernie and the Democrat machine didn’t want to turn over the reins to a part-time Independent socialist. On the other hand, the avarice of the Republican party permitted Trump to hijack their club. Winning mattered more than principals, which is page one in the Trump and Newt playbook. Trump needs to cut the silly game show crap and start to become serious about America and ALL THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

The fact that the Capitol Hill Police were able to kill the gunman who targeted Republicans on that field means we won’t get to hear his side of the story, but his electronic footprint is the same as those angry “let’s take some action” radicals on the right. You see, when you go so far to the right, you meet up with the crazies who have taken the message of hate too far to the left. They see themselves as freedom fighters, like the minute men. Oppressed white people with guns, far right, or far left?

Trump has to lead or leave. If he had a real brain and better people around him, he would see that he has stirred the pot and added hate toward immigrants, putting just enough salt into the wounds of people who have been economically displaced by years of globalization.  He has “called for things” rather than really getting anything done. He is as fake as the real news he dislikes.

Wait until the people figure out that his “great movement” has achieved only drug prices without oversight, fake job creation without training, education without a budget, environmental policy without a result and healthcare that doesn’t work for the very people who voted for him. They will be screaming, “Lock him up!”

I loved the irony of members of Congress quickly cancelling their hearing on gun control because of the shootings. What, too soon? The language they used in the halls of democracy, “An attack on one of us, is an attack on us all” Finally they understand why NATO exists. Doh!

The Trump administration should realize the harder they push the more push back they will get. Where are all the “best people” Trump said he would get to help him? All the President’s men, and a few women, sat around the cabinet table the other day kissing his ass and wasting the taxpayers’ money.

The more Donald Trump governs only to his base the angrier the rest of America becomes. The thing that gets in the way of any good ideas Trump has is his inability to float above his emotional level and need to be original. It’s not a bad piece of advice to be a moderate in America, especially with so many guns in the hands of crazy people.

LEAKER vs LIAR

Trump Plays Defense

Now everyone must take a stand: Do you believe Jim Comey or Donald Trump? And the biggest question remaining is whether Donald Trump is fit to be the President of the United States.

People will cherry pick the things they heard in the Comey testimony that they liked and that they didn’t like, but the damage has been done. Reasonable doubt has been established here and we have to look beyond the pundits to find the real truth.

One of the fallout items of what the internet called “Comey Day” (6-8-2017) was some people saying that Trump has no experience as a politician or the knowledge of the legal boundaries associated with being President. Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House, said, “The president wasn’t trying to obstruct justice, but just doesn’t know enough about political protocol.” Oh, I guess Trump missed the orientation class for being President, Sad!

If you thought 24 hours of no tweeting set the new tone, all that evaporated with new tweets today and the post hearing statement from Donald Trump’s personal lawyer. In that statement, Marc Kasowitz made the following points:

1.The President was not under investigation as part of any probe into Russian interference and there is no evidence that a single vote changed as a result of any Russian interference.

  1. The President never sought to impede the investigation into attempted Russian interference in the 2016 election.
  2. The President never, in form or substance, directed or suggested that Mr. Comey stop investigating anyone, including suggesting that that Mr. Comey “let Flynn go.”
  3. The President also never told Mr. Comey, “I need loyalty, I expect loyalty” in form or substance.
  4. The President feels completely vindicated and is eager to continue moving forward with his agenda with this public cloud removed.

The use of the word “cloud” in Mr. Kasowitz’s statement is quite interesting. This was the word James Comey used in describing the conversation he had with Donald Trump. So we do have imprinting here, and a key to Donald Trump being the author of his own defense.

The quest ion one might ask is why, in almost every conversation, does Trump seem to be obsessed with clearing his name from some investigation that no one ever said he was under? He is doing a pre-emptive denial.

If in fact Michael Flynn talked to the Russians and took money from a Russian news service and his company was highly compensated by the Turkish government, then Michael Flynn is part of the investigation into Russian tampering. Therefore, any defense of Flynn after his firing would seem to say that, at least, Trump was offering a character testimony for his “good guy” Michael Flynn. Using the presidential podium to argue Flynn’s innocence is, in effect, attempting tom affect the outcome of charges and a mild form of obstruction.

The idea of vindication seems to be a bit premature. Assuming that things are moving forward with Robert Mueller, the Special Counsel, there is now an additional element to his investigation: obstruction.

And the next point is that Jim Comey admitted, under oath, that he leaked the facts of the memos he had written after each meeting with Trump to the New York Times through a professor “friend” at Columbia University. He also said that the reason he leaked the information was based on a tweet from Donald J. Trump, typed on May 12, 2017: James Comey better hope that there are no “tapes” of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!

Kasowitz also claimed in his statement that Comey leaked before that tweet. This is a major mistake in the timeline. The New York Times never quoted the Comey memos prior to Trump’s 5/12/17 tweet and the first time the story ran was 5/16/17. That fact was from Julie Hirschfeld Davis from the New York Times.

Acting out of a sense of loyalty to his country, the FBI and, I am sure, his own reputation, he wanted to get the word out so that the Department of Justice would appointed a special prosecutor, or counsel. And like a great chess player, James Comey got just what he wanted.

The Trump machine has started to accuse Comey of being part of the deep state and they will try to sue its way out of this mess. One would think that after being in office for 4 1/2 months, they would have found the deep state already. This legal action will only make it worse. I don’t think Trump is naive about the job, I think he is just plain dumb.

The UK has now rejected the politics of Theresa May. The French rejected the dark politics of Marine LePen. And now it’s time for America to figure out how to get rid of the liars and start to listen to the leakers.

Donald Trump may be a leaker and a liar. There are web sites dedicated to his lies, but now we know that his twitter account leaks his personal inner thoughts. And if you look through 35,000 tweets, you can find all the leaks in his logic.

“It’s a Travel Ban!”

Trump’s War with Words

This morning before 7 a.m., Donald Trump tripled down on his desire for the first executive order travel ban to be the law of the land. His tweet on June 5th, 2017 has legally connected both orders and once again reinforced his real intent. His fiery surrogates got it wrong, the commander has decreed, it’s a TRAVEL BAN dummies.

Any judicial mind can clearly see that the order has its roots in keeping a certain religion out of the US. It’s not a temporary pause for us to figure out how people are vetted elsewhere, it’s simply a goal on a list that was created by Team Trump. A list of campaign promises that have been given a free pass outside of constitutional clearance or citizen mandate.

We have knowledge that the original order was to keep Muslims out of American; the man said it. And in his tweets today he said what he really wants. We have to take the man at his word. The first ban is his real intent. The president legally married the two orders this morning. His tweets are legal documents because he is the President. He cannot have two personalities, one on paper and one on social media.

The other problem with the order is the clear proof that the order will do nothing to stop terror. One could say that if the order was so necessary to prevent terror, we would have had a terror attack already. There has been no logical evaluation of a situation with new facts. We are doomed as a nation if mistakes occur by involuntary actions by this neophyte president.

We never said Donald Trump was smart, but anyone can see that all his words and actions are a reward for those who voted for him, not for the whole America. It’s so repulsive that the majority of those who didn’t vote for him have to put up with his self-serving narcissism. The more he caters to “his “base” the less he’s America’s president.

Donald, you are right, the other counties are laughing. They are laughing at you.

The travel ban is a bad idea. The real test of any immigration system is how it’s administered. If 700,000 people over stay their visas, what are you doing about that? Are we monitoring people who have been radicalized here and then travel to countries of risk? That seems to be a connection to terrorism. Do we know when they come back in? Who are you trying to catch with this travel ban, poor refugees or real terrorists?

Why not add more state department people so we can really study what “the hell” is really going on? Are you really interested in what is really going on? Using your faulty logic in the last three weeks, surely the U.K. would be put on your list. Your whole administration seems to be talking around the truth and trying to figure out what you meant. Why don’t you figure out how to talk so that everyone gets it?

STOP TWEETING and start communicating. Your language is poor and unclear. And you obviously have a very low reading comprehension. The Mayor of London was talking to his people and being very clear. Londoners are not used to seeing people walking around with guns like we are. He was saying, no need to be alarmed by seeing lots of people with guns. Observational awareness is not your strong suit.

You misread Sadiq Khan’s statement and you decided that when an ally is attacked you insult them. Now we know why you didn’t reinforce our commitment to NATO’s Article 5, you really don’t believe it. See more here. And by the way Donald, Sadiq is not a terrorist.

Rather than making things worse, why don’t you figure out why Russia has increased trade to North Korea by 73%. Wouldn’t that be something you should care about? Before you tweet about your stupid travel ban and how everyone got it wrong except you, why not slow down and THINK.

Surely you have the intelligence at your fingertips to understand that this country was attacked during the election. Why aren’t YOU leading the charge to get to the bottom of this mess. Or, is that just how you roll? Making nice with Russia is your priority above all else.

Trump is off the tracks and must be stopped. We may find out that he broke the law, but what is for sure, he’s a bad administrator, a poor communicator and a malicious president.

NOTE FROM CNN 6-5-2017: Executive Order 13769 is headed to the Supreme Court; the President’s lawyers are arguing it does not constitute a “travel ban,” so the President immediately undermined his own team by labeling it just that on Twitter. (Deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders repeated the phrase “travel ban” at a news conference Monday afternoon.)
